Chapter 12 - Meaningless Hope

"Where are we heading to Saksham?"Advitya asked.

"To the eastern gate, all the loud sounds are coming from the south and western gate so the eastern gate should be relatively safe.",Saksham replied as it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Advitya found it so ridiculous that he literally chuckled but didn't stopped him

'If we die, so be it.'

Advitya and Saksham found no interruption along the way , they were out of the headquarters now between the trees away from the stench of the blood screams of people in pain.

They still decided to run but with caution staying vigilant then suddenly they could see only white and when the light faded man came crashing down in front of them. The man laid on his stomach covered in blood and wounds, they both wanted to run but Advitya stopped seeing the robe this person wore.

"Elder Dharampal" Advitya screamed and moved toward the man. Saksham followed.

Elder Dharampal was gravely wounded but he still had power to open his eyes and look at Advitya recognising him he said "Child run Dhuryodhan is going to detonate himself."

"Boom"

A tingling sound could be heard from his ears. He opened his eyes but could only see shadow casting over him beside him lay Saksham shaking.

Then the shadow fell, Advitya could finally make out who was wrapping around him and Saksham it was Elder Dharampal shielding them by placing himself between them and the explosion. Absorbing every bit of it so no harm will be done on either of them.

Saksham lunged forward trying to wake Elder Dharampal up but Advitya knew it was a futile effort, Elder Dharampal eyes are closed he will never open them again.

Instead of stopping him he looked at the surroundings once the area that was filled with trees and sounds of birds chirping has now turned into dust with nothing but a scorching heat radiating from the ground.

The explosion directed for revenge has also gobbled up everything it touched, the radius of the explosion even reached the headquarters whose eastern side now completely obliterated.

Advitya then started making his way to the headquarters alone, he could hear Saksham calling his name but he didn't listen and this time Saksham also did not follow him.

He walked towards the headquarters feet burning but he ignored it. He walked there slowly but surely. He entered through the eastern side going into the direction where Sneha laid hoping by a miracle her body would have been shielded by the stone.

His gaze went in every direction and all he could see was that within 50 m radius everything had already turned into dust. The buildings once stood, the families that once lived, the garden that attracted people in love now all turned into nothing.

He hoped that Sneha's body could have been shielded by the rock and remained intact, it was a meaningless hope cursing only a few drops of water fall from his eyes. He took a deep breath steading himself and walking towards the western gate. His eyes shone with killing intent.
