Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: A Different Kind of Transmigration and Family Introduction

(Konoha Village, Root Division Human Experimentation Base, Brain Maintenance Section. Please place your brain here for maintenance before reading; this can save you from many troubles.)

It was the 34th year since the beginning of the Hokage era. At the Ninja Academy in Konoha Village, it was once again time for the annual opening ceremony. The Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, stood on the stage delivering a speech. After nearly two hours of speaking, lunchtime approached and finally, with a lingering sense of satisfaction, Hiruzen concluded his address.

He ended dramatically with the Will of Fire: "Wherever the leaves dance, fire will continue to burn. Its light will illuminate the village, giving rise to new shoots among the trees."

At that moment, a student from the Uchiha clan sitting in the audience had initially been quite pleased when he thought the old man's speech might be ending—but then he heard that last line, which felt like biting into a half-cooked noodle while eating chow mein.

So inwardly he added: "You mean to burn us all up just to light the way for your Four Noble Clans? Letting your rotten old branches sprout fresh shoots? One day, I'll burn every last one of you to ashes and use that fire to light my path instead."

Of course, this version of Hiruzen wasn't yet as terrible as he'd later become during the Second Ninja World War. Back then, he still lived up to the title of "Shinobi no Senya" to some extent. Unlike the wartime version who eventually evolved into something more akin to a Shinobi Bear—no one really understood how that happened. Even so, Shiyu Uchiha couldn't help but internally complain about the endless droning.

Although he grumbled in his thoughts, outwardly he looked genuinely excited. Not all of it was pretense either—the sooner the speech ended, the closer they were to dismissal.

To others watching, it appeared as though he wholeheartedly agreed with the Hokage's words, clapping along enthusiastically with everyone else as the Third Hokage departed.

Once the Hokage had gone, several teachers visibly relaxed and quickly seized the opportunity to explain some basic school rules. Soon afterward, all the teachers gathered together and assigned each student their class.

Finally, they announced the official start of school the next day, ending precisely on schedule with the dismissal bell. Obviously, these teachers were seasoned professionals.

As the teachers dismissed the students for the day, Shiyu Uchiha walked out through the gate with the rest of the crowd. Yet unlike most other students who were picked up by family members, Shiyu Uchiha headed home alone.

His family could've picked him up—it's just that he didn't enjoy it. With a mental age of over twenty, he found it awkward being escorted like a child. In fact, even back when he truly *was* a child, he had never needed anyone to pick him up.

By now, readers probably understand our protagonist is actually a transmigrated soul—but not the kind who died from being hit by a truck or worked to death.

In his previous life, Shiyu Uchiha had suffered intense pressure from both work and daily life. On top of that, he always carried an unshakable feeling that something huge was going to happen that very day, preventing him from falling asleep. Even after midnight passed, he tossed and turned without success. Bored, he grabbed his phone and watched some videos, only to find them equally uninteresting.

Then, he searched online for cures for insomnia hoping to salvage his night. Surprisingly, there were plenty of suggestions available—and curiosity took hold.

He mindlessly clicked on a video. And well, curiosity didn't just kill the cat—it could kill people too.

When he opened the video, he caught sight of a very familiar-looking man in a suit who was just starting to explain how to fall asleep quickly using crystal meditation. Normally, he wouldn't have had much patience for this sort of thing, but after his gaze landed on that crystal, he got hooked and ended up watching the entire video.

Since the process was extremely simple, he remembered it perfectly after just one viewing and decided to give it a try.

Because the method required help from an actual crystal—and he didn't have one—he rewound the video slightly, paused it at the perfect frame, and gave it another careful look before beginning his meditation.

The first step was to empty his mind and gradually calm his heart.

Maybe his natural talent fit the technique perfectly—or maybe it was something else altogether—but the moment he started meditating, he got sucked in, like there was no turning back.

As time passed and his heart calmed down, he moved on to the second step: visualizing the shape of the crystal within his mind. Since the crystal shown in the video was extremely simple in design, he successfully shaped its image clearly in his mind, completing the second step flawlessly.

Next, following the instructions from the video, he continued maintaining the mental image of the crystal while constantly refining and carving it, making it increasingly identical to the physical crystal. Supposedly, once completed, the mental crystal would exist permanently just like a real one.

Just as he prepared to further refine the crystal in his mind, the phone that should've been quietly resting on the bed beside him—the crystal image that should've remained frozen on the screen—unexpectedly began resonating with the crystal in his consciousness.

And as this resonance between the two intensified, the mental crystal became more and more complete, growing ever closer in resemblance to the crystal shown in the video. The more alike they became, the stronger the resonance grew, creating a loop that only fed itself.

Finally, when his mental crystal had become absolutely identical to the one in the video, something astonishing happened—the crystal on the paused video suddenly vanished. In the next instant, it merged perfectly with his mental crystal, pulling his soul directly inside.

Then… there was nothing more. He immediately lost consciousness and was transported to another world.

What he couldn't see was that on the phone screen—where the paused frame should've been—the man explaining the sleep-inducing crystal meditation method had actually begun moving again. A faint smile appeared on his lips; he looked quite satisfied with what he'd accomplished.

Shortly afterward, the Galaxy smartphone exploded, destroying the scene completely. As for him, he became a cautionary tale featured in fire department educational materials urging everyone not to leave their charging phones beside them while sleeping.

Eventually, the crystal containing his soul pierced through reality itself and arrived in another world, where it fused with the soul of a young boy whose life was about to end.

The reason this particular boy was chosen was primarily because his soul vibrations closely matched Lin Yan's. When his soul appeared in this new world, it manifested right beside this boy's.

Then the two souls began to fuse amidst intense resonance, gradually merging together while releasing a surge of spiritual energy. Driven by instinct, this energy started healing the boy's fatal wounds and subtly transforming his body—mainly his brain—to allow their memories to integrate.

Eventually, after completing the initial fusion, the released spiritual energy was completely consumed. However, the boy's injuries merely improved from critical to severe; although far from fully recovered, he would survive. Lin Yan's consciousness naturally slipped into a deep sleep. For complete fusion, an immense amount of time would be required.

(Since the soul merging wasn't fully completed, it explains why the protagonist couldn't initially use genjutsu. His talent gradually improved along with the soul fusion, so he was only an ordinary genius in the beginning.)

When he opened his eyes again, he realized he had already arrived in the *Naruto* universe. He had become Shiyu Uchiha, a nearly four-year-old boy from the Uchiha clan in Konoha village. The reason he knew this was the *Naruto* world was entirely due to the blessing of soul-fusion and memory inheritance.

He also learned the cause of his previous vessel's death—the boy had fallen from the bed while playing alone, hit his head, and entered a dying state, which led to the subsequent soul fusion.

However, since an adult's memories were poured directly into a child's brain, his head immediately started throbbing severely. Fortunately, it wasn't lethal.

His headaches gradually improved as his physical wounds healed and he slowly adapted—from constant pain to intermittent episodes—until finally, by age four, he returned to normalcy.

In the end, Lin Yan gained the child's memories and discovered he had transmigrated into an anime world—one very popular anime called *Naruto*. This was an anime he had followed from elementary school all the way through college until its completion.

Though a sequel—*Boruto*—was later released, he only watched a few episodes because of an awkward sensation that made him unable to continue watching. In netizen slang, it was considered *unwatchable garbage*.

Although shocked by this revelation, he accepted it—after all, there was no going back now. Fortunately, he hadn't died completely yet and had been granted another chance at life.

Thanks to the soul fusion, he could instantly understand the world's language when he arrived. It was like getting free language training—a fantastic perk.

After initially adapting to this new world, he decided to take on the original name of this body: Shiyu Uchiha, burying his past life deep within his memories, recalling it only when truly alone.

At that moment, he truly understood how Tang poet Li Bai must have felt composing those famous lines: *"Raising my head, I gaze at the bright moon; bowing my head, I think of home."* In a way, he felt it even more profoundly—for now, his home lay beyond reach.

While reminiscing about these thoughts and walking forward, just finishing reflecting on his past, he reached his clan's residence, arriving at his family's doorstep. Before even stepping inside, he smelled food coming from within. Standing for the entire morning had left him hungry, so he hurried indoors, ready to eat.

Walking into the house after opening the door, Shiyu Uchiha hadn't even finished taking off his shoes when he heard his mother's gentle voice coming from the kitchen: "Shiyu, you're back. The meal will be ready soon. Go wash your hands first and wait for me in the dining room."

The sound of cooking resumed shortly afterward, and Shiyu replied, "Alright, Mother. I'll head there now."

After putting down his bag, he went to wash up and then sat properly at the table waiting.

The Uchiha family had a long history and therefore came with many rules and customs to follow. At first, still adjusting from his reincarnation into this world, Shiyu found them completely foreign.

However, so as not to let his family notice anything strange about him, he did his best to imitate his former self. Luckily for him, his injuries gave him a convenient excuse to get through that awkward adjustment phase.

Once his injuries healed, possibly because of the Soul Fusion, he had mastered every habit and mannerism of his former self flawlessly, as if those skills had always belonged to him but were simply forgotten — now suddenly remembered.

Only in interpersonal relationships did he fall short. To avoid suspicion, he started acting more reserved and quiet. Eventually, it just became second nature.

It wasn't long before a stunning young woman with long, straight black hair — Shiyu Uchiha's mother — entered the dining area, carrying a large plate filled with delicious sushi. Noticing another family member missing, Shiyu curiously asked, "Where is my sister?"

"You mean Mikoto? She went out with her friends and probably won't come back until tonight. Do you have something to tell her?" his mother responded.

Shiyu answered, "No, I just noticed she wasn't home, so I asked casually."

"Is that so?" his mother said with a knowing smile. "Or are you hoping she'd celebrate your school enrollment? Didn't you say you could handle it alone? Hmm, feeling disappointed she didn't wait for you at home?"

Then she gently tapped her son's forehead with a slightly teasing smile, enjoying herself provoking her child. With nothing much going on usually, she loved playing around with her two kids, though they weren't as playful as when they were little anymore.

"No, you misunderstood, Mother," Shiyu instantly changed the subject, feigning confusion before diving into the sushi.

His mother chuckled softly and joined him in eating. Soon the room was filled only with the sounds of their dinner.

Shiyu Uchiha's older sister was none other than the future model daughter-in-law and mother of the Rain Repeller — Mikoto Uchiha. When Shiyu first learned this news, he had been deeply shocked. He never imagined he'd end up born into such a legendary family — let alone become the uncle of those two infamous figures.

However, Mikoto Uchiha's personality wasn't nearly as good as described in the original story — she wasn't gentle at all, especially not toward him, standing out starkly among other beauties in the Uchiha clan.

She often even threatened Shiyu. Had he not submitted quickly enough, he might've already gotten beaten countless times. Naturally, one important reason he yielded so fast was due to the predecessor's painful memories and that overly eager, tail-wagging dog-like personality.

Then again, Mikoto Uchiha fiercely protected him—like any big sister would. As she once directly declared: "My brother's the only one I can beat up! Lay a finger on him and see what happens!"

Thanks to Mikoto's strength, Shiyu Uchiha had never been bullied his whole life. After all, she was someone who had already awakened her first tomoe—a very outstanding Genin-level fighter.

Her current talent was already just as impressive as that of her future eldest son. Her first tomoe had actually awoken when she saw Shiyu Uchiha nearly dying. She was barely eight years old that year.
