Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Chronicles of the Hokage

The chronology adopted in this book places Naruto's birth on October 10th, Year 51 of Konoha. This has little relevance to the main story and can be skipped.

The Naruto series doesn't follow a strict chronological order, which can confuse readers and make it hard to fully grasp the story. By organizing the entire series chronologically, analyzing the plot's cause-and-effect relationships, and carefully reconstructing the history of the Naruto universe, this article reorders the century-long narrative using time as the axis and events as the framework, striving to accurately present the world within Naruto for readers.

Establishing the Timeline: Based on the timeline reference used by "The Book of Tactics"—the conclusion of The Fourth Great Ninja World War at chapter 691, with October 10 marking Naruto's seventeenth birthday—the year preceding the founding of Konoha sixty-seven years prior is designated as Year One of the Hidden Leaf Era, with all other historical events dated accordingly.

This chronicle is primarily based on the original Naruto manga and official publications. Content from TV anime, games, and novels is used only as reference. The narrative mainly follows the perspective of the Land of Fire—Hidden Leaf Village. Some dates and character ages were deduced logically and may involve slight discrepancies. Content related to deductions and analysis will be marked in blue italic font.

Warring States Era

32 Years Before the Era

More than thirty years before the establishment of Konoha village—approximately 32 years before the era began—two extraordinarily gifted children were born into the Senju Clan of the Forest and the Uchiha Clan respectively: Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha. In this warring and blood-stained Warring States Era, many civilians and even children were dragged into battles, with the average lifespan of both ninja and commoners reaching only up to thirty years old.

Two of Hashirama's younger brothers, Kawarama and Itama, were killed in battle. Madara originally had five brothers too, but Izuna was the only one remaining. With the same era background and growing environment, they developed similar ideals, bound together by destiny until they met and understood each other.

Hashirama and Madara first met by skipping stones across the river, becoming best friends while keeping their surnames hidden, constantly practicing ninjutsu techniques together and sharing dreams about life. Growing up amidst such brutal war, they devoted themselves early on to becoming powerful ninja who would establish an ideal village that protected children from the hardships of warfare, completely transforming this chaotic era.

However, carrying the destinies of the Senju Clan of the Forest and the Uchiha Clan, they had to uphold their families' positions and face off against each other. These two clans continued in opposition, slaying each other repeatedly until both matured into leaders of their respective clans. During their clan conflicts, the Uchiha gradually fell into disadvantage, and Madara's younger brother Izuna Uchiha was gravely wounded in battle by Tobirama Senju's [Flying Thunder God Slash], succumbing to his injuries shortly after. A portion of the Uchiha members weary of endless combat defected to the Senju Clan. Desiring peace, Hashirama proposed a ceasefire agreement to the Uchiha Clan. However, driven by hatred due to his brother's death, the clan head Madara awakened his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan and challenged Hashirama to a duel—this became known as the First Battle of the Valley of the End.

The First Battle of the Valley of the End

After the great war, Hashirama Senju once again proposed a truce and alliance to Madara Uchiha, then leader of his clan. Moved by Hashirama's sincerity, the long-standing rivals — the Uchiha and Senju clans — finally ended their hostilities and formed an alliance.

The term "First Battle of the Valley of the End" doesn't actually appear in the series. It's a name invented by the writer to draw parallels between the conflict of Hashirama and Madara and the later battles between Naruto and Sasuke, which are referred to as the First through Fourth Battles of the Valley of the End.

Hashirama Senju's and Madara Uchiha's birth and death dates are unknown, but two key dates provide historical context. The first is the birthday of Hashirama's eldest granddaughter, Tsunade — August 2nd during the 13th year of the Naruto calendar. In Volume 65, Episode 586 titled "Hashirama and Madara," there's a flashback showing Hashirama spending time with Tsunade, including a scene where she copies him playing games of chance.

Considering the high birth and death rates typical of the warring era, generational gaps probably ranged from 20 to 25 years. Based on this, Hashirama and Madara likely were born between 37 and 27 BHC (Before Hokage Calendar). If we average this to 32 BHC, Hashirama would have been around 45 when his eldest granddaughter Tsunade was born — a perfectly plausible age for a grandfather. Another key date involves Madara's younger brother Izuna Uchiha, who lived to be 24 years old. After Izuna's death, Madara awakened the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, which was soon followed by the First Battle of the Valley of the End. Following the battle, the Senju and Uchiha clans formally allied. While Konoha couldn't have been built overnight, Izuna's death date brings the timeline closer to the start of the Hokage Era. Based on appearances shown in flashbacks, Madara appears to be about 4–5 years older than Izuna.

Hokage Era

Year 1 of the Hokage Era

Deep within the forests of the Land of Fire — the childhood playground of Hashirama and Madara — a new village was established at the base of a cliff where they once played together. Madara named the village Konoha (Konoha Ninja Village, literally "Village of Leaf Ninja"). The character "Ki" (wood) symbolized Hashirama, representative of the Senju Clan of the Forest who wielded the Wood Release technique, while the "Ha" (leaf) referred to the Uchiha Clan, whose clan emblem was shaped like a fan resembling a leaf. Hashirama himself bestowed the title "Hokage" (Kaage, "Fire Shadow") upon the village's leader — a name symbolizing the ninja leader who protects the Land of Fire in secret.

Prominent clans such as Sarutobi, Shimura, and Hyūga joined the alliance, rapidly expanding the village into the most powerful organization in the Land of Fire. After gaining support from the Land of Fire government, which also desired peace and stability, the village and nation formed a co-governance system.

The creation of Konoha received high praise across the world, and the "one country, one village" system was quickly adopted by other nations. The Land of Lightning established Kumogakure, the Land of Earth founded Iwagakure, the Land of Water created Kirigakure, and the Land of Wind established Sunagakure. This system wasn't limited to the five great nations; many smaller countries also established ninja villages.

In the second year of the Hokage Era, just shortly after Konoha's founding, Madara left the village.

After the initial establishment of the Five Great Ninja Villages, at Hashirama Senju's initiative, the village leaders held the First Kage Summit. Hashirama promised to evenly distribute the Tailed Beasts among all the great nations, with recipients repaying through monetary compensation. This agreement eased conflicts between countries.

The First Kage Summit laid the foundation for the "one country, one village" era in ninja history, carrying profound significance. This summit brought together ten Kage-level leaders.

The distribution of the Tailed Beasts was as follows:

Land of Wind - Sunagakure: One-Tail Shukaku (already possessed by Suna)

Land of Lightning - Kumogakure: Two-Tails Matatabi, Eight-Tails Gyuki

Land of Water - Kirigakure: Three-Tails Isobu, Six-Tails Saiken

Land of Earth - Iwagakure: Four-Tails Son Goku, Five-Tails Kokuo

Land of Hot Water - Takigakure: Seven-Tails Chomei

Land of Fire - Konoha: Nine-Tails Kurama

Using the monetary compensation gained from the Tailed Beast distribution as startup capital, the Land of Fire heavily invested in Konoha's development, cultivating high-quality ninja and accepting missions from various regions. The nation consequently received substantial mission rewards, driving national economic growth. With ample financial resources, the country could allocate funds for military expenses, maintaining a large ninja force as national military power. Combined with its favorable geographical conditions, the Land of Fire became the world's strongest nation.

However, Madara Uchiha controlled the Nine-Tails and launched an attack against Hashirama and Konoha. The two warriors engaged in even fiercer battle. Fighting day and night, their clash dramatically altered the landscape. Later generations named the battlefield the Valley of the End and built statues of both warriors at the canyon.

The Second Battle of the Valley of the End

To protect the peaceful Konoha, Hashirama killed his former best friend. Then, together with the Uzumaki clan, he sealed away the Nine-Tails to prevent it from being manipulated again. His wife Mito Uzumaki became the first Nine-Tails Jinchuriki.

The Uzumaki clan were distant blood relatives of the Senju clan. Skilled in sealing techniques, clan members excelled at creating barriers. Ashina Uzumaki, the Uzumaki clan leader, established the Hidden Whirlpool Village using his formidable abilities. Renowned for mastering powerful sealing arts, he was hailed as the master of sealing techniques in Konoha. Through First Hokage Hashirama Senju's efforts, the Hidden Whirlpool Village became Konoha's ally. The emblem of the Uzumaki clan is imprinted on the uniforms of Konoha ninja, symbolizing the eternal bond of friendship between the two countries.

In the 11th Year of the Hokage Era

To ensure educational stability and efficient talent cultivation, Tobirama Senju founded the Konoha Academy, which graduated its first class of 36 students. Additionally, Tobirama created most of Konoha's institutions, including the Military Police Force and Anbu.

When Second Hokage Tobirama Senju initially took control of Konoha, he established the academy, Anbu, and Military Police Force (later imitated by other hidden villages).

Anbu, short for "Assassination and Tactical Special Unit", functions similarly to a special forces unit. Members are handpicked elite ninja from the village who primarily protect the Kage and prevent enemy intrusions into the village. Additionally, they conduct reconnaissance missions and perform assassinations. Their tasks often involve extreme hardship or tedious routines, such as guarding high-risk prisoners. Due to the sensitive nature of their work, Anbu members wear white animal masks during operations and refer to each other by code names. All details about their missions and related information are treated as classified secrets. Directly commanded by the Kage, Anbu receives orders solely from him and is organized into multiple squads of four or five members each, led by squad leaders responsible for passing down commands and directing missions.

Born five years before Year 1, Sarutobi Hiruzen, Danzō Shimura, Kagami Uchiha, Homura Mitokado, Koharu Utatane, Torifu Akimichi, and others formed the first generation cultivated by Konoha. Due to the distant historical period, this group will be called the "Bronze Generation".

Sannin

Silver-white hair and a radiant, chakra-infused tanto blade—this was the fearsome sight of 'Konoha's White Fang' on the battlefield. Ninja used these distinct features to identify enemy targets, gather intel, and devise effective strategies accordingly.

Konoha's White Fang

Appearing originally in flashbacks, Sakumo Hatake wore a short-sleeved red-patterned jacket, somewhat similar to the red Hokage cloak worn by the Fourth, Minato Namikaze. The original description of "Konoha's White Fang" also came from the "Yellow Flash": "Kakashi's father was Sakumo Hatake, the genius ninja known as Konoha's White Fang—legendary Sannin themselves feared him!" Thanks to his extraordinary feats during the Second Great Ninja War, Konoha's White Fang briefly outshone even the legendary Sannin.

Year 15 of the Hokage Era:

Originally established as an independent educational division called Konoha School, it incorporated military and internal affairs departments to train battle-ready ninja and was officially renamed "Ninja Academy."

The Great Ninja World War

Hokage Hashirama Senju, with unmatched strength, brought an end to the Warring States Era and ushered in a new age for the ninja world. This was both an ode to heroism and a sign that history was calling for change. The fragile peace during the early years of this new era relied on the balance established at its foundation. In truth, the peace was maintained not solely because of the treaties signed in those early talks, but due to the immense respect all factions had for Hashirama Senju's unmatched prestige in the ninja world. However, with the passing of the First Hokage, these carefully constructed accords among the Five Great Nations gradually collapsed.

Year 18 of the Hokage Era

Kumogakure struck first, organizing massive groups of shinobi to invade the Land of Fire. At the same time, conflicts erupted between Iwagakure Village and Kirigakure Village. Thus marked the beginning of the First Great Ninja World War. Konoha declared war on Kumogakure, and the elite forces of the Bronze Generation formed the core fighting strength of this war. Leading this elite fighting force personally against Kumo's invasion was Second Hokage Tobirama Senju.

Due to its sparse population, barren land, and weak economy, the Land of Wind played little role in the war narrative. On the contrary, Shamon, the Second Kazekage, made remarkable achievements in the development of Sunagakure Village. He integrated [Shukaku, the One-Tail], once sealed in temples in ancient times, into the village's combat capabilities, devoting himself to researching military applications of tailed beasts. Moreover, he created a series of puppet techniques capable of replacing actual Suna shinobi, along with Magnet Release techniques that enabled small numbers to effectively utilize terrain advantages. Shamon's strong army policy significantly advanced Sunagakure's military might, with his developed puppet and magnetic release techniques bringing profound influence upon the village.

Year 20 of the Hokage Era

As the war progressed, internal divisions emerged within Kumogakure—two factions arose: pro-war and pro-peace. The Second Raikage led the pro-peace faction, deciding to establish a ceasefire alliance with Konoha Village.

During the alliance ceremony, Kinkaku and Ginkaku — later known as the Gold and Silver Brothers — staged a sudden coup d'état, killing the Second Raikage on the spot and seriously injuring Second Hokage Tobirama Senju. Leaf forces took advantage of the chaos to escape the scene, only to be pursued by an elite squad led by none other than Kinkaku and Ginkaku themselves.

In this critical moment, Second Hokage Tobirama deliberately tested his comrades' judgment and resolve before sacrificing himself to draw the enemy away and cover their escape. Hiruzen Sarutobi was then appointed the Third Hokage.

The First Great Ninja War brought enormous losses to all major nations—the Raikage, Hokage, Mizukage, and Tsuchikage, four of the leading figures, perished in this war. With each nation suffering substantial combat losses and losing their top leadership, the First Great Ninja War finally subsided.

Born five years before the current year, Kagami Uchiha lived twenty-five years total, confirming his death in Year 20 during the First Great Ninja War. Furthermore, during Tobirama Senju's last battle, Kagami Uchiha was still on the battlefield.

It can roughly be calculated: Tobirama Senju lived from BC 28 to Year 20 (total 48 years); Kagami Uchiha from BC 5 to Year 20 (total 25 years); Kinkaku and Ginkaku were born in BC 24 and died in Year 20 (aged 44).

Second Hokage Tobirama Senju, Kagami Uchiha, and Orochimaru's [parents] were also among those who fell during the First Great Ninja War. Afterward, all countries signed ceasefire treaties, ushering in nearly two decades of relative peace and development.

As a child, Orochimaru discovered the shed skin of a White Snake while paying respects at his parents' gravesite, thus forging a fateful bond with the White Snake. After experiencing multiple wars and contemplating life, Orochimaru resolved to explore all truths of the world and unravel every secret of Ninjutsu in pursuit of his goal: understanding the essence of life itself.

This was Konoha's golden age—a time bursting with extraordinary talent. Among them were the heirs of Konoha's Eight Great Clans, each of whom would eventually become a clan leader. Among elite Jonin, Minato Namikaze stood out with his legendary reputation as the "Yellow Flash," sweeping across major battlefields of the Third Great Ninja War. At only twenty-three years old, he succeeded to the Hokage title, emerging as the leader of Konoha's "Golden Generation" born during the 20s (Hokage Era).

September 3rd, Year 34: Aoba Yamashiro was born.

In Hokage Year 33, Kushina Uzumaki arrived in Konoha, becoming the second Jinchuriki to hold the Nine-Tails. She met Minato Namikaze at the Ninja Academy and earned the nickname "The Red-Hot Habanero."

The Tides of Fate Shift

Economic imbalances between nations widened the gap between them, allowing militant factions within each hidden village to rise in power. Claiming they were fighting for fairness, these factions used force to expand their military influence and plunder resources. What had once been a stable situation started to fall apart, and tensions between nations steadily grew.

Hokage Year 36

Tsunade's younger brother Nawaki tragically lost his life at only twelve years old when he accidentally fell into a trap and was killed by exploding tags during a mission.

Jiraiya, who had been traveling abroad, was recalled to Konoha due to rising tensions. All sides were on high alert, preparing for large-scale military action with war ready to ignite at any moment.

Hokage Year 37

The Second Great Ninja War fully erupted. Ame, caught between the Lands of Earth, Wind, and Fire, became the main battlefield. Ninja forces from multiple nations clashed within Ame, and years of endless warfare brought devastation to its people. Civilians inevitably got dragged into the conflict, losing their lives and homes. Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan's parents perished in the chaos, leaving them as wandering orphans.

Sanshouo Hanzo, the leader of Amegakure, declared war against invading major nations. The Land of Fire and the Land of Wind fought fiercely against the Land of Lightning and the Land of Earth on multiple fronts, driving the Second Great Ninja War into its bloodiest phase.

During this war, Chiyo's poison techniques were overcome by Tsunade, and Sasori's parents were killed by Sakumo Hatake—whose title "White Fang" spread throughout the ninja world. Ultimately, the conflict between Konoha and Sunagakure ended in victory for Konoha.

Hokage Year 39

On the battlefield of Amegakure, Sanshouo Hanzo—revered as a "semi-god" at the peak of the ninja world—successfully contained Konoha's elite fighters Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade. However, foreseeing that Konoha would ultimately prevail due to overall strategic advantages, he proactively ended hostilities and bestowed upon them the honorific title "Sannin of Konoha."

Shortly after concluding the battle against Amegakure's main forces, Jiraiya encountered three war orphans—Yahiko, Konan, and Nagato—and chose to stay behind alone to care for them, hoping to help heal the wounds left by war.

Hokage Year 40

Tsunade's lover Dan Kato sustained critical injuries during the war and died without recovery. This devastating war claimed both Tsunade's younger brother Nawaki and her beloved partner Dan, leaving her heartbroken. Witnessing his gruesome death left her emotionally shattered. As a Medical Ninja, developing a deep fear of blood—something that would haunt her from then on—was especially tragic.

Hokage Year 41

Kumogakure continued experimenting with tailed beasts for military use. However, since jinchuriki couldn't fully control the beasts, the Eight-Tails rampaged multiple times, causing massive destruction in Kumogakure. Each time it took enormous casualties to stop the beast from running wild. To gain full control over the tailed beasts, Kumogakure urgently needed to master techniques to suppress their chakra.

Iwagakure struggled with its research on tailed beasts, so they dispatched ninja to secretly infiltrate Konoha and abduct Kushina Uzumaki, whose special chakra could seal the power of tailed beasts. Minato, still young at the time, had already shown extraordinary talent during this incident. By following clues left by Kushina, he tracked down the enemy, swiftly defeating three adult Iwa ninja and successfully rescuing Kushina Uzumaki. At the same time, he also won her heart, seizing the red string of fate that bound them together.

The Rise of the Platinum Generation

Most members of Konoha's Platinum Generation were born during the height of the Second Great Ninja War. They spent their brief childhoods between battles before becoming teenagers thrown into the chaos of the Third Ninja World War. Forged through brutal wartime experiences, these members of the Platinum Generation grew into promising elite ninja who would later become the backbone of Konoha more than twenty years later.

The ruling powers of the five great ninja nations began to weaken, leading to a series of invasions and internal uprisings across the continent, marking the outbreak of the Third Great Ninja War, with flames of war spreading across the entire world.

During this war, the Land of Fire faced large-scale confrontations against four other great nations simultaneously. Might Duy single-handedly confronted the Seven Swords, killing four of them. Biwa Juzo, Fuguki Suikazan, and Raiga Kurosuki fled defeated. Might Duy, the father of Might Guy, fell in battle. Might Duy, born December 10th, Year 13 – died Year 49, aged 35.

Year 50 of the Hokage Era

Kakashi Hatake, at age 12, was promoted to Jonin.

Iwagakure's army broke through the Grass Country and arrived at the border of the Land of Fire. Having committed a large force, Iwagakure launched a full-scale offensive to break through Konoha's defensive line, stationing a thousand ninja at the frontlines. Konoha failed to anticipate Iwagakure's rapid advance and found itself in a passive position. Though Konoha quickly sent in elite forces to counterattack, they were overwhelmed by Iwagakure's larger numbers.

With long borders to defend and enemies closing in from all sides, Konoha couldn't muster enough strength to stop the enemy's advance. To reverse this situation, Konoha devised a strategy: deploying elite ninja behind enemy lines to destroy support bases and cut off supply routes. Team Minato — two jonin and two chunin — received a special mission to carry out the secret operation to destroy Kannabi Bridge.

As an important strategic point along Iwagakure's supply route, Kannabi Bridge was guarded by three powerful jonin. After eliminating the enemy scout jonin Mushibi, Minato went to reinforce the main battlefield while Kakashi led his squad to continue their mission to destroy Kannabi Bridge. Soon, the team encountered attacks from Iwagakure jonin Huoguang and Taiseki, resulting in Rin Nohara being captured. Following an argument between Obito and Kakashi, Obito proceeded alone to rescue Rin. At a critical moment, he awakened the Sharingan and joined arriving reinforcements Kakashi to defeat the enemies and successfully rescue Rin.

Kakashi & Obito vs Huoguang

However, the enemy used the ninjutsu [Cave-In Crushing] to destroy the terrain. While retreating, Obito saved Kakashi from collapsing boulders but got crushed himself. Before dying, Obito gifted his Sharingan to Kakashi and entrusted him to protect Rin.

Obito Uchiha fell in battle.

Using the Sharingan together with Chidori, Kakashi killed enemy commander Huoguang. With Minato's timely arrival, they successfully destroyed the crucial support base at Kannabi Bridge. This battle forged two Sharingan heroes who turned the tide of war and laid the foundation for ultimate victory. This historic confrontation became known as the Kannabi Bridge Battle.

Mist Village sent multiple Anbu operatives and plotted to launch an attack using Three-Tails in an attempt to destroy Konoha Village. Aware of the enemy's intentions, Rin Nohara sacrificed herself to stop the enemy's scheme.

Rin Nohara sacrificed herself. Born on November 15th in the 37th year of the Hokage Era, died at age 12 in the 50th year.

By late 50th year of the Hokage Era, the Third Great Ninja War concluded. Paying a heavy price over prolonged battles, Konoha ultimately achieved victory. Many heroic names of those who gave their lives for wartime victory were engraved on the Memorial Stone Tablet. Facing severe losses brought upon Konoha by war, Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi took responsibility and voluntarily resigned from his position as Hokage. Minato Namikaze, who earned remarkable achievements during the war, succeeded him as the Fourth Hokage.

[Dark Currents Beneath Calm Waters]

With the cessation of war, Konoha welcomed a baby boom. The next generation of ninja made their appearance, signaling the *new generation* beginning to step onto history's stage.

Though war-weary Konoha believed they had finally turned the corner and would enter a new era of peace, what awaited them instead was an era of internal unrest lurking beneath calm surfaces.

A mysterious masked man attacked Konoha in the dead of night, causing the Nine-Tails to go on a rampage. Due to the suddenness of the attack, despite the Konoha shinobi's efforts to stop it, the Nine-Tails still caused massive destruction and many casualties among the ninja forces. The Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze and his wife Kushina Uzumaki died during this incident, an event known as the "Nine-Tails' Rampage."

After the chaos, the people of Konoha became disheartened, with various factions maintaining only superficial unity while remaining distant at heart. The Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi resumed his position as Hokage.

Year 52

Hiruzen Sarutobi personally led a team to investigate and expose secret bases conducting inhumane experiments. Orochimaru's human experimentation was exposed, leading him to betray and defect from Konoha. He established new bases, gradually developing into a regional power.

Year 53

Itachi Uchiha, still in first grade, graduated early from the Ninja Academy and became a genin.

Year 54

At age 8, Itachi Uchiha awakened the Sharingan.

Long-standing enemies Kumogakure and Konoha reconciled, deciding to sign an alliance treaty. On December 27th of Year 54, Konoha held an elaborate celebration. The leader of Kumogakure's delegation attended the ceremony at Konoha and formalized the alliance treaty, with all Konoha ninjas present. However, since this day also marked the third birthday of Hiashi Hyuga's eldest daughter Hinata, the Hyuga clan did not attend the alliance ceremony. On that day, Neji Hyuga of the Branch House received the Caged Bird Seal. That night, the leader of the Kumo delegation attempted to kidnap the young Hinata to study the secrets of the Byakugan, but was struck down on the spot by Hiashi Hyuga. Afterwards, Kumogakure's leadership accused Konoha of violating the alliance treaty, and tensions flared as neither side would back down, with Kumogakure even threatening war if the body of the deceased wasn't handed over. To protect the Main House, Hizashi Hyuga voluntarily sacrificed himself, dying in place of his elder brother.

Uchiha Shisui planned to [cast Kotoamatsukami] during the shrine gathering before the clan's rebellion, aiming to prevent the Uchiha coup d'état. However, Danzo stole his right eye beforehand. After entrusting his left eye to Itachi, Shisui threw himself into the Nanakawa River. This event marked the awakening of Itachi's Mangekyo Sharingan.

The next day, tensions flared between Itachi and other clan members due to conflicts surrounding Shisui's death, an event Itachi had not attended. Fugaku Uchiha stepped in to calm the situation. Sasuke witnessed how his older brother's Sharingan bore the distinctive Mangekyo pattern.

This clan means nothing to me... only despair remains.

The rift between father and son echoed the crack in the clan's emblem on the wall—a quiet omen of the Uchiha's tragic fate.

Hokage Year 59

At thirteen years old, Uchiha Itachi became an Anbu squad captain.

Shisui's suicide temporarily delayed the Uchiha clan's plans for revolt, yet their conflict with Konoha's leadership intensified daily. Political conditions in Konoha Village deteriorated sharply until ultimately, when circumstances reached an irreversible point, Itachi carried out the extermination order against his entire clan. Overnight, the Uchiha family was slaughtered completely. Framed for the massacre, Uchiha Itachi defected from Konoha and became an S-class rogue ninja. He joined the Akatsuki organization under the codename "Akutarutasu."

Hokage Year 60

July 7th — Akamaru was born.

Nonou Yakushi—"Wandering Shrine Maiden"—was killed in action. Kabuto Yakushi joined Orochimaru's ranks and assisted him in various human experiments.

With reduced manpower, Akatsuki sought out Deidara. After fighting each other, Deidara joined Akatsuki under the codename "Ao."

Also that year, Kakashi Hatake, who had worked in Anbu for ten years, was transferred away from Anbu. He became a jonin instructor responsible for training students who graduated from the Ninja Academy.

Following Orochimaru's orders, Kabuto Yakushi began participating yearly in Konoha's Chunin Exams to collect information on promising newcomers.
