Chapter 4 - Hoops,Halls & Hairflips

"Welcome to the court," Ava said with a grin. "Basketball. But magical."

🏀: Basketball arena

The enchanted gym buzzed with energy. The hoops adjusted their height based on who was playing.

Three boys were in the middle of a very… competitive one-on-one-on-one match.

"BALL!" one of them shouted, diving dramatically — even though no one had passed it.

He was short, wiry, and had a fresh buzzcut, his sneakers colorfull.

"That's Ryan," Ava whispered. "Small. Loud. He's so short but he somehow wins half the time."

"I HEARD THAT!" Ryan yelled, while pouting.

The second boy wore round glasses and had a messy haircut, like a bowlcut but better— and had the smuggest smirk Kinova had ever seen.

He caught the ball mid-air, spun once, and shot it.

Missed completely.

"Stylish." Ava noted. "That's Sky Who you just saw."

Sky adjusted his glasses coolly. "The hoop dodged me. It's intimidated."

"Oh wow." Kinova muttered.

And finally — a figure in the corner, hood up, purple fringe falling over one eye, quietly dribbling the ball and avoiding eye contact with the girls.

"That's Will," Ava said softly. "Emo Is how you would exactly describe him."

Will pulled his hoodie over his head after he saw them.

🗄️: Lockers

Now Ava guided Kinova through the hallway where lockers were located.

Two girls were leaning against their lockers.

One had her dirty blonde hair slicked backed into a bun with gold hoops glinting in her ears.

"Oh hey," she said, eyeing Kinova up and down. "New girl. I love you already."

"That's Madison," Ava said lowly. "Everyone thinks she's into them. She's not. It's just a hobby."

Next to her, a girl with dark pink hair tied in a messy side braid stood a little awkwardly, holding a glittery notebook and nodding way too eagerly.

"And that's Marine," Ava added. "She's... uh-"

"Hii!" Marine blurted out. "I already know your name, Kinova! Ooh and uh if you need anything at all just tell me!" "No-one would know!"

Ava whispered to Kinova carefully so she doesn't hear "yeah no-one like the principal, teachers and your whole bloodline."

Kinova gave a awkward chuckle

The locker next to them slammed shut, and a self-cleaning broom rolled past, mumbling something rude in Goblish.

"And that's just a normal day here." Ava chuckled, "Alright we're almost done, lemme show you our class. It's in the second floor!"
