My body was numb and i couldn't open my eyes.
Did i really die?
That was impossible, im sure Chancellor wouldn't give me such ridiculous task like stop my fall... right?
He never had student's so i didn't have a slightest idea as to how i was going to learn. But for me to die so quickly is sure pathetic.
I wish i could have seen a little more of this world.
Wait how am i even still thinking, aren't i dead?
If i truly died then i probably wouldn't be able to have even a single thought, or atleast i think so, with all these strange things happening i might even have an afterlife or something.
Maybe it's an illusion aswell
With how popular this forest was in illusion spells then the sensation im having right now is probably fake. Now that i think about it, i didn't even feel any physical contact with the ground.
Then i probably will wake up any minute, i think the point of it was how id react to my 'death'
My guess was right because after what felt like a few hours i could move my body and finally open my eyes. I barely stood up, still not completely free from the senselessness i experienced and looked around my surroundings.
The floor was layered with some light yellow rock-like material, and around me were about six different doors covered in runes which seemed to lead nowhere with darkness acting like the walls. It was then that i noticed a small tablet hanging above me.
'After you wake up open the doors and proceed with studying, you can enter each door only once and il take you out in about three and a half months, try to use your time efficiently'
This crazy bastard really did fake my death
For him to make me think i died will require the Chancellor to be sick in the head, who the heck will be gratefull to him for this, what kind of lesson am i supposed to learn.
I didn't dwell on it too long before shifting my attention back to the doors, they looked similar but when paying close attention to their engravings you could notice that all of them had their own purpose.
What should i try first.. oh i know!
While i didn't know about rune language, i thought that my luck would be somewhat helpfull. I took out a water bottle from the pouch and placed it in the middle of the room before giving it a spin.
The bottle spun around for about ten seconds before pointing on the door with the biggest engravings.
I placed it back into the pouch and walked to the door, i stretched out my hand for the doorknob and twisted it slightly. My vision blurred for a moment and i found myself standing inside a big training grounds with dummies and weapon racks aswell as some training equipment.
There was also a bookshelf which most likely contained some instructions on how to fight with certain weapons.
So the physical one is first
After admiring the room i sat down and ate some food, i haven't even had a proper meal for labout two days and i needed to train immediately so that i could prove my worth. When i thought about it i simply wanted to cry, why should i train when i got transported in this world, they didn't even give me time to adjust, i would preffer sitting in my room and doing nothing then this.
Even though i didn't want to, i needed to train and i did after a few minutes of rest and adjusting to my body. First things first i went and picked my weapon from the weapon rack, i didn't want to learn some weird style so i took the most common weapon i thought about.
Il take the sword
When someone asked me if i would use any weapon from the medieval times i always picked a sword, it was a versatile weapon that could adapt to anything, atleast in my opinion.
I tried to swing it a couple of times but it was way too heavy with it being made out of metal.
its a good thing i can train my body first
Even though i didn't have problems with my physique, i was just average, in this place i needed alot more than just average strenght with people around me that could move faster than a bullet.
Maybe it's all about mana?
I tried to swing my sword while sensing the mana around my body but it proved to be a waste of time, sensing and actually using it were way different.
With the sword placed back in the weapon racks i made my way to some training equipment and read a book from the bookshelf about how to develop my body most efficiently.
I just have to steel myself and go along with all of it, not just half-ass it and be happy
The time passed quickly and before i even noticed, two months already passed from my original time.

The Chancellor observed Julius from time to time like some experiment and couldn't help but notice how much he focused only on physical exercise.
Doesn't he want to learn magic? I thought he was like me but maybe i was wrong...
He thought so when about two day mark passed and no change occured in his schedule but..
After a few days he saw that the kid in front of him didn't want to train, he looked like he was being forced to do it. Which was partially true since he was thrown inside by Edward himself, he didn't say though that he needed to only train his body.
That's probably because his affinity lies only in blood magic of all things
Blood magic didn't really have much records but with some of the most troublesome wanted criminals using it, they branded it as a heretic magic and tried to kill all of the blood mages.
There was about 8 spells at most with half of them being for healing. Even when it didn't pose much danger when weak people had capability to use them, public's opinion on it was outrageous demanding to eradicate any trace of blood magic.
When two month's passed, a change happened in the boy, he looked like he wanted nothing more but to die out of embarassment. Edward saw this and noticed Julius standing next to a tablet which was left there in case someone fell inside.
It was then that he understood what was happening. Julius didn't train here because he was scared of learning blood magic, he just didn't know how to get out.
How can someone be so abscentminded to not notice it??
Even with all his years of experience the shock he experienced was beyond anything else, he covered his eyes and let out an exasperated sigh.
Haaa
The person he picked as a disciple turned out to be a complete bumpkin. But seeing how much he has grown made his worries go away.
Even if he makes a couple of silly mistakes like this it wont take away his talent
With how fast he was growing it would be even on par with the top students that are coming as first years.
Ah theres also him...
His thoughts shifted to the most promising student that at the mere age of eighteen reached stage four of mana control. Only the royal family could learn mana control from the childhood with everyone else having the need to start at the age of sixteen.
What was his name again... ah!
He took out his small journal that he kept in his pocket to document promising talents and wrote his name down. The ink stained the paper and what was written is a single name surrounded by a bunch of small notes stating his accomplishments and rate of progress.
Micheal Dornton, the so called once in a lifetime prodigy.
