Anyways helloooo guys
This is a pretty boring chapter tbh
So enjoy your days i guess
I'm out
-------
All three of us went to STAR Labs where the others were waiting for us.
I went straight to Flash and dapped him up.
"Yo bro, how've you been?"
Flash looked at me with a smile.
"I've been good. And you? Anyways, you've got a new suit? It looks awesome."
Under my mask I started to blush a little and said, "I've been doing pretty well, thanks. I tried to make it look good, and you know what? I even added a cooling system into the whole suit."
"For real? Damnnn, that must be nice," Flash said, and then he went off to start examining the submarine, the reason we were all called here. Lantern, Shazam, and Superman were also inspecting the wreck.
"No energy signature. They did everything manually," Lantern said as he scanned the destroyed submarine with his ring.
Shazam flew around, looking at the wrecked sub, and muttered to himself,
"Who could even do this? Uhmm… other than us?"
Flash continued,
"There are four dozen unique fingerprints here."
Finally, Batman spoke up.
"Four fleets. It was a coordinated strike."
"Has Darkseid's army returned?" Wonder Woman asked.
"No, I don't think so," Batman said, and then he started staring directly at me.
"Why are you… staring at me like that?" I asked.
"You definitely know something. So spill it," Batman replied.
I sighed and leaned closer to him, close enough that no one else could hear us, well, Superman probably did with his super-hearing, but I didn't care.
"Listen, do you know what the Butterfly Effect is? If I told you who destroyed that submarine, I'd change the future, and I have no idea how much it would change. That's why I can't say anything. Plus you're gonna discover it very soon anyways"
(This guy is capping, he's just too lazy to explain it btw)
Batman nodded and didn't press me further. Instead, he turned to Cyborg.
"Run the recording."
We went inside the ruined submarine, and Cyborg started playing back his recording of the events that happened when he was attacked by the Atlanteans, or maybe it was the creatures from the Trench. Honestly, I didn't really care which.
Cyborg's recording started playing. I was standing next to Lantern and Flash when Lantern began talking about something I couldn't care less about.
"This is awesome. Like a 3D movie without glasses."
Then one of the creatures that attacked Cyborg passed through him, of course, it was only a recording, so nothing happened to Lantern. The creature continued, struck Cyborg in the back, and forced him to brace himself against one of the sub's control panels to keep from falling.
"Stop. Observations?" Batman said. The recording froze, and Wonder Woman started speaking.
"He didn't have them in his field of vision. They were stealthy, used the environment. They were soldiers."
"I agree," Batman said, and he was about to tell Cyborg to resume the playback, but this time I spoke up.
"They must've had enormous strength. Let's say Cyborg weighs over 100 kilograms, and I'm probably underestimating here. That creature forced him to nearly collapse without much effort. I wouldn't say anything if this happened on land, but underwater? Well, that proves these creatures are very strong. Physically stronger than Parademons, at least."
Batman nodded again.
"Continue."
The recording resumed, showing Cyborg taking an uppercut that lifted him off the ground.
Flash agreed with me, saying those creatures must be hella strong to pull that off underwater. Cyborg pulled out his sonic cannon and fired at them, but they dodged it.
Lantern paused the recording and started speaking.
"Stop. Those are barrel rolls. They move in full 360°."
"Agreed. And they're sensitive to sound," Batman said.
Flash added,
"Sound travels 4.3 times faster in water."
Lantern immediately shot back,
"Show-off."
"Bite me, Mr. Barrel Roll," Flash replied.
Lantern frowned but didn't say anything else. Meanwhile, the recording resumed again, this time showing one of the creatures stabbing Cyborg with some kind of sword or blade. As it swam away, Batman froze the footage again, giving us all a clear look at the creature's masked face.
"Enlarge it," Batman said, and he began examining the creature in front of us. We all noticed that the creature had gills.
"Gills? Like mermaids?" Shazam asked, and I seriously started to question whether he actually had the Wisdom of Solomon.
"No, like… in Atlantis," Wonder Woman said. She then asked Cyborg where he put the dagger, and Cyborg pulled it out and handed it to her.
Wonder Woman examined the dagger carefully.
"I've seen these engravings before, when I was a child, in books about Atlantis… It sank to the bottom of the ocean… but its inhabitants were saved by the magic of the King's trident, which irreversibly transformed them into sea creatures."
Lantern immediately scoffed.
"That's just a fairy tale."
I shot him a look.
"We literally fought a New God. You have a frickin' ring that can manifest anything you imagine, and you're telling me Atlantis is a fairy tale?" I sighed. How did I end up with such an idiot on the team?
"Speak. Where is it?" Cyborg asked.
"Unfortunately, no one knows today," Wonder Woman replied.
Lantern intervened, and it looked like he began to believe a little in Atlantis after what I said.
"And why would a mythical underwater world need rockets? And try saying that five times fast in a row."
"They probably intend to attack us," Batman said.
Lantern added,
"Whatever it is, it's bad."
Shazam chimed in.
"Just a thought… I've seen a lot on TV about Atlantis, with one professor. Maybe he can help us."
Lantern didn't like that idea very much.
"We're in STAR Labs, surrounded by the greatest minds in the world."
"Oh… I said something stupid again," Shazam muttered. But Cyborg didn't think so.
"Maybe not. Dr. Steven Shin..… I'm familiarizing myself with his research. His theories about Atlantis are remarkable."
Then Batman and Superman went to meet Dr. Steven Shin, while the rest of us were tasked with finding Atlantis, which was by no means an easy task.
