The sound of footsteps echoed off the moist layers of hard rock lining the interior wall of the tunnels.
Lila led the way, a glowing orb of blue light lighting their path. Kion followed directly behind her, while Penelope lagged a few inches back.
They had been walking together for what seemed to be hours with nothing really out of the ordinary to report. It had just been a never-ending cycle of rocks, dust, and the occasional bat squeaking from the darkness above.
"How long will we keep at this, my lord?" Penelope asked, her voice ragged and croaked dry.
"Until we find something. There has to be something here we can—"
"You're already tired?" Lila asked, glancing at Penelope.
"Not really. My throat's just…parched." Penelope replied, a hint of something vague in her voice.
"Here, you can have my flagon." Lila offered, but Penelope declined politely.
"I appreciate the offer, but thank you, I have my own flagon." She said.
