Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Easy Control

"Uh, can I go in?" Mo Lin asked the guards, pointing at the village in the distance.

The guards standing there remained motionless, as if they hadn't heard Mo Lin at all, not responding.

Mo Lin wasn't in a hurry, sitting on the cement steps, gazing at the village afar.

While waiting impatiently, he began drawing circles on the ground with a stick.

The guards in the distance were staring intently in the direction of the village, their expressions tense.

Uncertain if it was some influence or just an illusion.

It felt like the sky had grown darker.

Without lights, one might not see anything.

Suddenly, Mo Lin stood up from the steps, eyes fixed on the east.

The guards in front of him were startled out of their wits.

As one guard was about to angrily rebuke Mo Lin, before he could speak, a cry for help was heard.

"Help... ah..."

The sound was particularly sharp.

Making their scalps tingle.

The guards' heads started buzzing instantly.

Even though they knew it was Miss's voice, they didn't dare make any move.

It was pitch black in the direction of the sound, nothing was visible.

One guard attempted to walk toward Xianyun's direction, only to discover that fear had paralyzed him.

His legs refused to move, unable to lift his feet.

Xianyun was very desperate, having never encountered such a terrifying ghost before.

She was enveloped by a swirl of black fog, her body felt heavy, making it difficult to take a single step.

All she could do was cry out for help loudly.

"Get out..."

A voice shouted harshly.

Xianyun, in her desperate state, surprisingly felt an inexplicable sense of security hearing this reprimand.

Her body suddenly felt much lighter, the black fog surrounding her dissipated.

A young man dressed in ancient red official robes appeared before her.

Without any hesitation, Xianyun threw herself into Mo Lin's embrace.

"Help me, take me out of here; I'll give you money... a lot, a lot of money... I beg you, save me."

At this moment, she clung to Mo Lin's clothes like a drowning person grasping at straws.

Xianyun's appearance was tragic at this point, her right ankle was hanging onto a high heel, her left foot bare, with no trace of the other shoe.

There was a bloodstain on her right leg, her cheongsam was torn, her hair disheveled, revealing large patches of white.

She looked like a woman fallen on hard times, wandering the streets.

Judging by her appearance, she seemed to have used some life-preserving charm to survive.

Mo Lin lifted Xianyun by her collar like a kitten, slowly returning her to the fried chicken shop.

Xianyun stared at Mo Lin intently.

She was captivated by Mo Lin's charming actions.

Seeing Xianyun return, the guards hurriedly came to greet her and handed her clothes.

"Stay here, I'll go inside and take a look," Mo Lin said slowly.

"Don't go..."

Xianyun quickly blocked Mo Lin, "The ghost inside is very powerful, a horror-level ghost; you could die."

Mo Lin seemed unaffected by Xianyun's warning, walking straight towards the village.

Xianyun panicked; the situation was spiraling beyond her control.

She took her phone and called her family for reinforcements.

.....

Mo Lin's right eye was a dark gray, with a pupil glistening in gray light.

He used the Ghost Eye skill.

In Mo Lin's vision, the pitch-black space was as bright as day.

He could see everything clearly.

The locks on these earthen houses were broken, and inside were merely dilapidated tables and rusted, decayed iron.

The scent of blood filled the air, guiding Mo Lin towards its source.

The ground was stained with fresh blood, and several men's bodies lay sprawled.

Mo Lin recognized these people.

They were the Ghost-Controlling Masters Xianyun had brought with her before.

Now they were all dead.

"Slap..."

A bloody hand slapped onto Mo Lin's shoulder.

Turning around, Mo Lin saw the person called Elder Yun, blood-streaked, standing behind him.

"Brother, quickly... get me out of here," Elder Yun rasped at Mo Lin.

Elder Yun's right hand was severed, the cloth bag draped over his chest now tattered.

Holding a half-broken Copper Coin, his expression was anxious.

"The ghosts inside are vicious; let's leave quickly," Elder Yun urged Mo Lin again.

As he spoke, Elder Yun glanced around nervously.

Yet, for some reason, that Fierce Ghost didn't pursue them.

The absence of pursuit was already fortunate.

"Brother, run quickly..." Elder Yun urged Mo Lin to leave.

Despite his injuries, which made movement difficult, if he could, he would surely abandon Mo Lin and escape on his own.

"I'll give you three thousand Netherworld Currency; please take me out," Elder Yun pleaded with Mo Lin.

Instead of leaving, Mo Lin started surveying the area, seemingly searching for something.

"What are you doing? Are you trying to provoke that Fierce Ghost?"

Before Elder Yun's voice faded, Mo Lin dashed forward into the black fog.

Inserting his hand into it, he suddenly yanked forcefully.

A black figure was pulled out from the fog by Mo Lin's tug.

An ugly male ghost appeared.

This ghost's face was decayed, oozing gray-black blood, looking especially disgusting.

Mo Lin felt intensely nauseated, not wanting to look at the ghost's face.

He didn't want to vomit up his dinner.

"Name: Chu Xing

Realm: Horror Level

Ghost Skill: Soul Chain."

Iron Chain: Using iron chains can bind enemies, restrain their attacks, delivering lethal blows.

This Ghost Skill, while standard, wasn't particularly powerful nor overly weak.

That's when the prowess of the Ghost Eye skill became apparent.

With just one glance, Mo Lin could see through this Fierce Ghost's entire being.

Chu Xing made ghostly faces at Mo Lin, baring his teeth, but his limbs were immobilized.

Attempting to resist, Chu Xing found himself overpowered by Mo Lin.

Mo Lin had confined all of Chu Xing's strength, rendering him helpless, like a cat held by the nape.

Despite the brief encounter, Chu Xing launched a fierce assault on Mo Lin.

Chu Xing's attacks were entirely blocked by Mo Lin's Yin Department robe.

Had it been Elder Yun and others, they might have perished at Chu Xing's hands in that instant.

Moreover, Mo Lin's method of restraining Chu Xing wasn't random grabbing.

It was the uniform Ghost Hunting Technique of the Ghost Messengers, the "Scattering Soul Ghost-Catching Technique."

The "Scattering Soul Ghost-Catching Technique" comprised thirteen moves.

Mo Lin employed the thirteenth move of the "Scattering Soul Ghost-Catching Technique," ghost confinement.

To the skilled, it was a display of mastery; to the untrained, it looked chaotic.

To Elder Yun, it appeared that Mo Lin simply caught the Fierce Ghost.

And the Fierce Ghost showed no resistance.

"This guy... is this powerful?" Elder Yun realized he'd misjudged.

The young fellow before him had skills, at least a level four Ghost-Controlling Master.

"Are you a ghost from Naihe Bridge, or Ghost Realm?"

The Underworld now divided into three major factions.

Yedou led by King Yan.

Additionally, Naihe Bridge domain led by the Judge and Meng Po.

Ghost Realm, led by the Ghost King.

Ghosts in Yedou were generally peaceful, without malevolence, rarely endangering lives.

Those in Naihe Bridge domain were varied, some harmless, others prone to taking lives.

However, Ghost Realm had only one kind.

Ghosts who relished endangering lives, stained by karma, with volatile tempers.

"Uh... get out...."

Chu Xing uttered angry curses, disregarding Mo Lin's questions.

Mo Lin skipped the idle chatter, grabbing Chu Xing and fiercely hitting the ground with him.

"Boom..."

The ground cracked, forming a big pit.

Several wisps of black aura dispersed from Chu Xing's being.

His figure dimmed substantially.

"Bang!"

Mo Lin slammed Chu Xing into the ground once more.
