Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Catching Ghosts

"Your Ghost Skill is really impressive." Mo Lin wasn't flattering; he was speaking the truth.

The Ghost Eye skill might seem useless to others.

But for Mo Lin, it had tremendous benefits.

He could use Ghost Eye to locate some powerful ghosts.

After all, the space in the Ghost Suppression Book was limited. What if it was filled with low-level ghosts?

Encountering a stronger ghost later and being unable to capture it would be frustrating, wouldn't it?

The Ghost Eye skill could help Mo Lin weed out the lower-level ghosts.

"Lord Mo, do you want to tame a ghost even more powerful than me?" Chen Xi's eyes rotated 360 degrees in their sockets, fixedly staring at Mo Lin.

Mo Lin frowned and retorted, "Don't put on that ghastly face, it disgusts me."

This remark was truly heartfelt.

The ghosts Mo Lin had encountered in Yedou were uglier with each meeting, making him instinctively averse to ugly things.

Chen Xi quickly stopped rotating her eyes and stopped making a grotesque face, sheepishly smiling, "Master, I know of a Jiangzhou ghost stronger than me, of Horror Level, and with your ability, you can definitely tame him."

Since she decided to follow Mo Lin, she naturally wanted to offer some advice to show her worth.

"Take me to see."

Mo Lin was quite interested in the powerful ghost Chen Xi mentioned, capturing it to lock inside the Ghost Suppression Book would add considerable strength.

...

Mo Lin followed Chen Xi's directions, heading east downhill along a concrete road.

This concrete road was narrow, just wide enough for two small cars to pass.

The surrounding hillsides were overgrown with weeds.

After about ten minutes of walking, Mo Lin slowly stopped.

In the distance, there was a small village.

Calling it a village, there were less than ten households with dilapidated mud houses.

There shouldn't be anyone living inside.

Even from afar, an unusual aura could be felt.

"The Jiangzhou ghost is inside," Chen Xi reminded Mo Lin.

Mo Lin wasn't in a rush to go in and capture the ghost.

His attention was drawn to another place at the moment.

"Wanhui Fried Chicken Shop."

Even before approaching the shop, a fragrance wafted out...

Just the aroma made Mo Lin's mouth water.

Filling up before ghost hunting wouldn't delay much time either.

Who could understand the feelings of someone who hadn't eaten a proper meal for seven whole years?

Seven years indeed...

In the Underworld, Mo Lin survived purely on Ghost Qi.

Whenever hungry, he absorbed Ghost Qi to maintain bodily functions and wouldn't feel hungry.

Like this, Mo Lin endured for seven years in the Underworld.

The fragrance of the fried chicken made Mo Lin crave...

He lingered at the shop door for a moment.

"Young man, hungry?" The shop owner came out to take out the trash and saw Mo Lin lingering at the door, enthusiastically asking him.

"I want to eat, but I have no money..." Mo Lin felt a bit embarrassed.

He only had Netherworld Currency on him, no cash.

"From your getup, you don't look like someone who's broke..."

The shop owner had worked in a fashion team before and could tell at a glance that Mo Lin's cosplay outfit was expensive, starting at least a thousand.

Anyone who could afford such costly attire wasn't broke, right?

"All I have is Netherworld Currency, I wonder if I can use it to pay." Mo Lin joked.

"Of course, you can settle with that."

The shop owner grabbed Mo Lin's arm and invited him in.

"Netherworld Currency can be used to settle bills?"

Mo Lin looked puzzled. Since when did Netherworld Currency become a common currency?

"How long have you been indoors? Netherworld Currency has been a common currency for six years now, and many Ghost-Controlling Masters are willing to accept it." The shop owner handed the menu to Mo Lin to order.

The main circulation channel of Netherworld Currency was within the circle of Ghost-Controlling Masters.

Many Ghost-Controlling Masters were willing to spend money acquiring Netherworld Currency, turning it into a trading currency.

The prices on the menu were very cheap.

A large portion of chicken was only three Netherworld Cents.

"Two servings of large chicken."

Mo Lin decisively ordered two servings of large chicken.

Just about ten minutes later, the steaming hot chicken was served to the table.

Perhaps because he hadn't had chicken for a long time,

Mo Lin found it particularly delicious.

The taste was incredibly savory.

He buried himself in his meal.

An old man at the next table was drawn to the noise of Mo Lin eating.

This old man's face was full of wrinkles, wearing a grey-black smock, with a cloth bag slung across his body.

"Young man, are you here for that guy too?" the old man asked Mo Lin, pointing eastward.

"Yeah... That's right." Mo Lin said, as he bit into a piece of chicken.

"The guy inside might be a Dangerous Level ghost; you better not go, for your own safety." The old man kindly advised Mo Lin.

"No worries, I'm not afraid."

Mo Lin was from the Yin Department; would he fear mere little ghosts?

The old man shook his head, chuckling helplessly.

He had seen many young men filled with bravado like Mo Lin.

Unaware of their true strength, they'd eagerly try to confront a powerful ghost, ending up losing their lives.

The old man said no more and got up to leave.

Mo Lin waved and pulled out three one-cent Netherworld bills from the Ghost Suppression Book, handing them to the shop owner as he left.

When he left the restaurant, it was already dark.

A yellowish glow from the bulb outside the restaurant was illuminating.

In the distance, a blinding light lit up the entire fried chicken restaurant.

Two Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUVs drove up and stopped at the restaurant door.

Five people got out of the cars.

The five looked similar in age, all appearing to be in their twenties or thirties.

"Elder Yun..."

The five greeted the old man in the smock with cupped hands.

A woman wearing silver high heels descended from the car.

Her figure was slim, clad in a black cheongsam, with a willow-like waist, hair tied up high, a delicate face.

She wore golden earrings.

Definitely dressed like someone wealthy.

"Elder Yun, are these people I brought for you sufficient?" Xianyun softly asked the old man in the smock.

"Three Level Three Ghost-Controlling Masters, two Level Two Ghost-Controlling Masters."

The old man in the smock assessed the five Ghost-Controlling Masters in front of him and nodded, saying, "They're sufficient."

Hearing this, Xianyun felt assured.

"Elder Yun, I rely on you today to capture the Dangerous Level ghost inside, please help me."

Xianyun wanted to capture the Dangerous Level ghost inside to become a Level Three Ghost-Controlling Master.

To successfully capture the Dangerous Level ghost, she not only invited Elder Yun but also sought out five Ghost-Controlling Masters.

It cost over three million and she even offered two Ghost Artifacts.

As long as she could capture the Dangerous Level ghost, she could become a Level Three Ghost-Controlling Master, stabilizing her position within her family.

Spending a bit more money for her own benefit was no problem.

"Who is this?" Xianyun asked, pointing at Mo Lin beside Elder Yun, puzzled.

"I don't know him," Elder Yun calmly replied.

Since Elder Yun didn't know him, Xianyun ignored Mo Lin and waved her hand, instructing, "Block the road."

Seven bodyguards behind Xianyun pulled out barricades from the cars, blocking the concrete road, preventing anyone from entering the village.

Xianyun followed behind Elder Yun and together they walked into the village.
