Chapter 22: The Fallen (and the Idol's Empathy)
Nanda Parbat. The very name tasted like dust and ancient secrets. Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow, was gone. In his place stood Al Sah-him, the Heir to the Demon, a man stripped of his identity and seemingly consumed by the League of Assassins.
"Well, this is just peachy," Adam muttered, watching a grim video feed of Oliver undergoing a ritualistic transformation. "He's gone full cult leader. Next thing you know, he'll be selling essential oils and demanding we all wear matching robes. And Ra's al Ghul? Seriously, that guy needs a new hobby. Maybe knitting. Something less… world-domination-y." His sarcasm was a thin veneer over his genuine discomfort. Oliver's transformation was deeply unsettling.
Jisoo, however, was focused on Nyssa al Ghul, who stood heartbroken, watching the man she loved (and hated) embrace his new, dark path. Jisoo sensed Nyssa's profound pain, a quiet, mournful song in her aura. "She is sad," Jisoo observed simply, walking over to Nyssa with a small, perfectly peeled apple. "Like a very beautiful, but broken, melody."
Nyssa, surprised by the idol's presence, looked at her, her eyes narrowed. "Who are you?"
"I am Jisoo," she replied, offering the apple. "And he is Adam. Your… friend is doing a complicated story. Like a K-drama with too many plot twists. Sometimes, people do bad things for… complicated reasons. But it's still bad."
Adam, meanwhile, decided to inject a little absurdity into the grim proceedings. "System, Minor Wish: 'Rubber Chicken Sword.' Target: Random League of Assassins member. Activate now."
[SYSTEM MESSAGE]: Minor Wish 'Rubber Chicken Sword' Used. Cost: 25 Days. Current Wish Balance: 351 Days. League's confusion: High. Host's amusement: Dark.
During a tense training session in the courtyard, a stoic League member, mid-swing with his gleaming sword, suddenly found it transform into a floppy, bright yellow rubber chicken, complete with a comical squawk. He stared at it, then at his hand, utterly bewildered, before Ra's al Ghul's sharp gaze made him quickly hide the offending poultry.
"Worth it," Adam thought, a grim satisfaction settling over him. "Even in the face of absolute despair, a rubber chicken can bring a little joy. Or at least profound confusion."
Jisoo, seeing the depth of Nyssa's sadness, extended a hand. Her eyes glowed, and a small, ethereal image flickered in Nyssa's palm: a fleeting glimpse of Ra's al Ghul, a rare, almost tender expression on his face as he looked at a younger Nyssa. It was gone in an instant, but Nyssa gasped, a flicker of something unreadable in her eyes.
"He… he cared," Nyssa whispered, her voice barely audible.
"Even bad songs have a small, good note," Jisoo said, her expression unbothered but her eyes filled with empathy.
Adam watched Jisoo, a profound sense of awe washing over him. "She just gave Nyssa a moment of peace. My chaotic queen. She's too good for this grim, dark world. And I'm still stuck with a healthy Wish Day balance. Time to find more ways to spend it."
