Chapter 31 - Chapter 30: splendid night.

As the hours ticked by, both Ben and Mark found themselves lost in thought, their minds drifting back to the evening ahead. Ben couldn't help but feel a flutter in his chest, wondering what Mark had planned for their date. Meanwhile, Mark was busy finalizing the details, making sure everything would be perfect. The anticipation hung in the air, a palpable excitement that neither of them could ignore. As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the city, Ben and Mark both felt their eagerness grow, each counting down the minutes until they could be together, enjoying their special evening. The promise of a lovely night out lingered, and they both couldn't wait to see where the evening would take them.

Mark was on the phone with the quaint Italian restaurant, confirming the booking for 6 pm and finalizing the food orders that would be ready for them when they arrived. "Yes, I'd like to confirm our reservation for two people at 6 pm. And could you please have the bruschetta and a bottle of Pinot Grigio ready for us as soon as we arrive?" The restaurant staff assured Mark that everything would be taken care of, and he hung up feeling organized and prepared for a lovely evening with Ben. With the details settled, Mark's mind turned to Ben and how he will look like for their date that evening and how they will spend it together.

Ben swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood up, feeling a surge of excitement as he thought about the evening ahead. He headed to the bathroom, turning on the shower and letting the warm water wash away the day's fatigue. As he lathered up and rinsed off, Ben couldn't help but smile, thinking about seeing Mark soon. After drying off, he walked to his closet and pulled out the outfit his sister had gotten him recently – a stylish shirt and dark jeans that made him feel confident and handsome. Ben got dressed, took a final glance in the mirror, and nodded in approval. He felt good, and he knew he was ready for a great night with Mark. With a spring in his step, Ben headed out, eager to meet Mark at the restaurant.

As Ben stepped out of his hostel, he spotted Mark waiting for him by the entrance, looking dashing in his outfit. Mark's eyes lit up as he caught sight of Ben, and he couldn't help but smile at how handsome Ben looked in his new outfit and couldn't helped but admire how it looked good on him. Ben's face broke into a wide grin as he walked towards Mark, and the two shared a warm moment as they met outside the hostel. "Hey," Ben said, his voice filled with excitement. "Hey," Mark replied, his eyes locked on Ben's. They shared a brief, tender moment before Mark gestured towards the waiting car. "Shall we head to the restaurant?" he asked, and Ben nodded enthusiastically.

"Yeah, let's go," Ben replied, his smile still plastered on his face as he fell into step beside Mark.

Ben and Mark slid into the backseat of the waiting taxi, the door closing behind them with a soft thud. As they settled in, Mark gave the driver the address of the quaint Italian restaurant, and the taxi pulled away from the curb, merging into the evening traffic. Ben and Mark sat close together, their thighs touching, and the proximity sent a spark of electricity through both of them. They exchanged a glance, and Mark smiled, feeling a sense of comfort and excitement as they rode together towards their dinner date. The city lights blurred outside, but inside the taxi, all that mattered was the gentle hum of the engine and each other's presence.

Their table was set awaiting the duo to arrive st their booked time.

The restaurant manager asked his workers "has the table been set to go" and they replied "ready sir, just as they have booked."

As the taxi navigated through the city streets, Ben and Mark continued their conversation, their words flowing easily as they chatted about everything from their day to their shared interests. The taxi driver's occasional nod or glance in the rearview mirror were the only interruptions to their lively discussion. Ben laughed at one of Mark's witty remarks, and Mark smiled back, feeling a connection with Ben that grew stronger with each passing minute. The ride flew by, and before they knew it, the taxi pulled up to the restaurant, the soft glow of the Italian eatery's lights beckoning them to come inside. As they paid the driver and stepped out onto the sidewalk, Ben turned to Mark and grinned. "We're here," he said, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.

Ben and Mark pushed open the door to the restaurant, and the warm aroma of Italian cuisine enveloped them. They stepped up to the hostess stand, and Mark gave their name, confirming their reservation. The hostess smiled and led them through the cozy dining area to their table, situated by the window with a lovely view of the city at night. As they sat down, Ben gazed out the window, taking in the twinkling lights, and Mark couldn't help but notice how handsome he looked in the soft glow. The hostess handed them menus and let them know their waiter would be right over. Ben turned his attention to Mark, and they exchanged a smile, both feeling happy to be there together. The atmosphere was intimate and relaxed, and they settled in, ready to enjoy their evening.

Their waiter arrived promptly, bearing a tray with two glasses of ice-cold water. "To get you started," he said with a smile, setting the glasses down in front of Ben and Mark. "Your food and wine will be out shortly." Ben and Mark thanked him and took a sip of the refreshing water, using the moment to glance over the menus and chat quietly while they waited for their orders to arrive. Mark had already ordered their food and drinks, so they knew it was just a matter of time before the bruschetta and Pinot Grigio would be served. The water was a thoughtful touch, and they appreciated the chance to relax and unwind while they waited.

Before long, their waiter returned with a tray, bearing the dishes Mark had ordered. He set a plate of bruschetta in front of Ben and another in front of Mark, the aroma of toasted bread and fresh tomatoes wafting up to greet them. Alongside the bruschetta, the waiter placed a chilled bottle of Pinot Grigio in an ice bucket, pouring each of them a glass. "Enjoy your meal," he said, smiling as he stepped back from the table.

As Ben took a bite of the bruschetta, his eyes lit up with delight, and a pleased smile spread across his face. "Mmm, this is amazing," he said, the flavors of the fresh tomatoes, basil, and garlic mingling on his palate. Mark watched him, happy to see Ben enjoying the food so much. "Glad you like it," Mark said, smiling back at him. Ben nodded enthusiastically, taking another bite, and Mark couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction knowing he'd chosen something Ben would truly enjoy. The delight on Ben's face was all the confirmation Mark needed – the evening was off to a wonderful start.

Ben and Mark dug in, savoring the flavors of the bruschetta, and took a sip of the crisp wine, the combination perfectly complementing each other. The food and drink were a delightful start to their evening together.

As they finished their bruschetta and sipped the last of their Pinot Grigio, Ben and Mark both wore satisfied expressions. The flavors had been rich and satisfying, and the company had been even better. Ben leaned back in his chair, his eyes sparkling with contentment, while Mark smiled across the table, feeling grateful for the pleasant evening they were sharing. They lingered over their empty plates, reluctant to break the spell of the moment, and simply enjoyed each other's presence. The silence between them was comfortable, a testament to the ease and connection they shared. As they sat there, it was clear that both Ben and Mark felt like they'd had a wonderful start to their evening together.

As they lingered over their wine, Ben and Mark's conversation flowed effortlessly, their discussion meandering from topic to topic. They talked about everything and nothing, their words punctuated by laughter and smiles. The restaurant's ambiance faded into the background as they focused on each other, their connection growing stronger with every passing minute. Ben leaned in, his eyes locked on Mark's, and Mark felt his heart skip a beat as he met Ben's gaze. The wine glasses sat forgotten on the table, the drink now secondary to the company. They were lost in their own little world, where time stood still, and all that mattered was the two of them, together.

Mark smiled warmly at Ben, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You know, I didn't just bring you here for dinner," he said, his voice low and gentle. "I wanted to take you out so you could unwind and feel more relaxed. I know you were a bit nervous about the play the other day during rehearsal, and I figured a night out would do you some good." Ben's face softened, touched by Mark's thoughtfulness. "Thanks, Mark," he said, his voice sincere. "This has been really lovely. I do feel a bit more relaxed now." Mark reached out and covered Ben's hand with his own, a comforting gesture that spoke volumes about their connection.

As they continued their conversation, the hours slipped away, and the restaurant began to quiet down around them. Mark couldn't help but think to himself, "I need to be bringing him on more dates like this in the future." He enjoyed Ben's company immensely, and the ease with which they talked and laughed together made him feel like he'd known Ben for years, not just a short time. Mark's thoughts drifted to the possibilities of what the future might hold for them, and he found himself looking forward to exploring more moments like this with Ben. As they chatted, Mark's gaze lingered on Ben's face, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for what might come next.

As the evening drew to a close, Ben turned to Mark with a sincere smile. "Thank you again, Mark, this has been an amazing night," he said, his eyes shining with appreciation. "I really needed this, and I'm so glad you took me out." Mark's face lit up with a warm smile as he replied, "The pleasure's all mine, Ben. I'd love to do it again sometime." Ben's words were a lovely validation of Mark's efforts, and he felt happy knowing he'd been able to make Ben's evening so special. The gratitude in Ben's voice and eyes made Mark feel even more connected to him, and he knew he wanted to spend more time with Ben in the future.

As they stepped out of the restaurant, the cool night air enveloped them, and Mark hailed a taxi with ease. Within moments, a cab pulled up to the curb, and they slid into the backseat together. The familiarity of being close in the confined space felt natural, and they sat together, shoulders touching, as the taxi driver asked for their destination. Mark gave the driver the address, and as the taxi pulled away, Ben leaned his head back, looking relaxed and content. Mark glanced over at him, feeling a sense of companionship and affection. The city lights blurred outside, but inside the taxi, all that mattered was the gentle hum of the engine and each other's presence.

As they rode through the city, Ben and Mark sat together in comfortable silence, their hands naturally intertwining as they gazed out the window at the beautiful night scenery. The twinkling lights of the city cast a magical glow over the streets, and they watched in tandem, their fingers gently entwined. The soft touch sent a sense of calm and connection through both of them, and they sat there, enjoying the peaceful moment, the gentle hum of the engine and the soft glow of the city lights lulling them into a sense of serenity. In that quiet moment, everything felt right with the world.

The taxi pulled up to the destination, and the driver announced their arrival. Ben and Mark reluctantly untangled their hands, paid the fare, and stepped out onto the sidewalk. As they watched the taxi drive away, they turned toward Ben's hostel, walking side by side in a comfortable silence. The night air was filled with the sounds of the city, but their focus was on each other. They strolled at a leisurely pace, savoring the last moments of their evening together. As they approached the hostel, Ben slowed down, not wanting the night to end. Mark smiled understandingly, and they lingered outside the entrance, reluctant to part ways.

As they stood outside the hostel, Mark looked down at Ben and smiled softly. "We'll see each other tomorrow, and I'll come get you, okay?" he said, his voice low and gentle. Ben nodded, a smile spreading across his face. "Okay," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper. Without another word, Mark leaned in, and they shared a tender kiss under the bright light of the moon. The world around them melted away, leaving only the two of them, lost in the sweetness of the moment. As they pulled back, Ben smiled up at Mark, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation for the next day. Mark smiled back, his eyes shining with affection, before turning to walk away into the night.

Ben stood outside the hostel, watching as Mark walked away into the night, a smile still on his face. He waited until Mark was far enough away, not wanting to break the spell of the moment. Only when Mark disappeared into the darkness did Ben turn and make his way into the hostel, his heart still warm from their tender kiss. He walked up to his room, feeling a sense of contentment wash over him. As he entered his room, he couldn't help but think of Mark, replaying the events of the evening in his mind. The memory of their time together lingered, a pleasant accompaniment as he settled in for the night.

It was a splendid night for them both, each having a smiles on their faces. Mark happy that he got to go on a date with Ben and helped him got refreshed.

Ben on the other hand was happy that he had a good time that his nerves were calm and he looked forward to their meeting tomorrow morning with Mark.
