Chapter 205: Prehistoric Bloodline!
Author: Samsung Charmander
Within the soul, the two of them were silently observing the battle, enjoying the show.
Red remained seated in his Grand Master's Chair, rocking back and forth with no intention of getting up.
Green, ignoring his actions, was experiencing the battle from Gary's first-person perspective. As if discovering something, he couldn't help but speak up.
"Hey, Red, this Aerodactyl seems..."
"Mm, indeed."
Red nodded. He himself had an Aerodactyl, hatched and restored from an Old Amber, so he understood this type of Pokémon.
"In that case, this Aerodactyl is truly something remarkable. If it's true, then..."
Green's eyes flashed. Even as composed as he was, he couldn't help but feel a stir of excitement. If Gary could catch it and give it some training, it might just become a true overlord of the sky in the modern world!
His expression quickly became placid again, as if he were indifferent.
He was right, in a way. No matter how high its aptitude, it was of little significance to the two of them, who had already reached the peak. To ascend further required more than just talent and aptitude.
But for the current Gary and Ash, its significance was boundless.
This was something worth fighting for!
A wise look, as if he had grasped the entire situation, appeared in Green's eyes. Without betraying any emotion, he walked over to Red's side with his hands behind his back and placed a hand lightly on his shoulder.
He spoke casually, as if it were just a passing thought, his tone tinged with a hint of nostalgia.
"Red-san, don't you think the flowers in our Hometown should be blooming by now?"
Red: "?"
His movements froze. Green's words had caught him completely off guard.
Back in reality.
Alakazam's Guard Split was successfully activated.
This move brought their two Defense stats to the same level. For Alakazam and Aerodactyl, this meant stripping a portion of the latter's Defense to supplement the former's.
Although for a glass cannon like Alakazam, the supplement was as good as nothing, it was a significant debuff for Aerodactyl.
"Sha-roooar!!"
Feeling itself inexplicably weakened, Aerodactyl grew furious. Just as it was about to open its massive maw to tear into Alakazam, the Gengar by the rock wall made another move, suddenly throwing a punch at the cliff face behind it.
Aerodactyl was baffled. Where was this fat, dark creature punching into the void?
The next second, a black fist of shadow energy shot out from a shadow in front of it, flying straight for its face.
"Swoosh!"
Shadow Punch!
Aerodactyl hurriedly flapped its wings to gain altitude, but the Shadow Punch seemed to track it, rising as well and striking its face from a tricky angle.
"Smack!"
HP -2.
Shadow Punch was a sure-hit move, impossible to dodge.
Aerodactyl shook its head, its eyes turning a deeper crimson, yet its mind grew even calmer. As a prehistoric overlord of the sky, this little trick was not enough to make it panic.
Its rock-like wings and body suddenly began to rub against the air on the spot, producing a heavy, grinding "shhh-shhh-shhh" sound.
Its body seemed to grow lighter, its figure zipping and weaving through the Deep Pit Cave at extreme speed, which increased explosively.
Pokedex: "Rock Polish. A Rock-type Pokémon can greatly increase its speed by polishing its body to reduce air resistance."
Ash's Pokedex chimed in.
Next, a blue light flashed in Aerodactyl's eyes. This wasn't a psychic power, but it materialized several rocks out of thin air above Gengar's and Alakazam's heads, which then came crashing down.
"Zam!"
"Gengar!"
The two Pokémon were equally fast, easily dodging the large boulders with a few quick steps back.
"Crash-crack..."
However, the moment the large boulders hit the ground, they shattered into countless small pebbles and dust that clung tightly to Gengar and Alakazam. Their bodies now burdened with extra weight, the two wore uncomfortable expressions as their speed immediately dropped by one stage.
Pokedex: "Rock Tomb. Can lower an enemy's speed."
On the main battlefield, Aerodactyl used this opening to land on a Rock Platform. The sharp claws on its wing joints and its two powerful hind legs began tearing at the rock. Each scratch gouged deep marks several centimeters into the stone.
A thick, aggressive red light began to glow around its body.
Hone Claws, a move that could raise Attack and accuracy.
"I finally understand why it let us attack it before..."
Gary's tone became deeper than ever before.
Prehistoric Pokémon slumbered for thousands, even tens of thousands of years. Upon reawakening, their bodies would naturally be exceptionally sluggish. Aerodactyl had been intentionally dragging out time, even remaining indifferent as its own kind were captured.
It was all to slowly acclimate to its own body.
In other words, it was continuously making itself stronger!
"We have to end this fast!"
Ash exclaimed in a low voice, also sensing the danger.
He didn't understand all these fancy tricks. He only knew that even after a series of battles, Aerodactyl's aura hadn't weakened; on the contrary, it was growing stronger.
And the "clink, clink, clink" of digging from above was getting closer.
The two exchanged a glance and launched another joint offensive.
"Sha-roooar!!"
With Hone Claws complete, Aerodactyl's physical stats rose by a stage. It once again gathered several brown rocks to envelop its body and, with an even more terrifying and powerful presence, let out a heavenward roar and charged.
Ancient Power!
Gary quickly shouted:
"This time it's our turn to provide cover! Alakazam, use Psychic!"
"Zam!"
Alakazam flipped the spoons in its hands, and an incredibly powerful telekinetic light wave erupted from its body, so intense that it visibly condensed into a giant, pale-blue energy hand that tried to grab the charging Aerodactyl.
"S-snap!!"
In less than half a second, the large blue telekinetic hand shattered, and the Psychic attack was instantly broken through as the Aerodactyl, empowered by Ancient Power, continued its charge toward the Alakazam in front.
Even as it flew, several fierce red lights flashed across its body again; Ancient Power had a chance to increase all of its user's stats.
Unable to dodge, Gary could only choose to take the hit head-on.
"Alakazam, use Protect!"
As a glass cannon, the move Protect was a must-have.
"Zam!"
Facing the ferocious Ancient Power-wielding Aerodactyl, Alakazam held its silver spoons before it, conjuring a strange, spherical green barrier out of thin air to shield itself.
"CLANG-BOOM!!"
Ancient Power slammed into the Protect shield, instantly setting off a terrifying explosive roar. Energy scattered wildly as dust billowed.
At the center of it all, Alakazam gripped its spoons tightly. Faced with this immense force, not only did its spoons bend, but its fingers were also twisted into a sickening arc.
Although Protect was defined in the data as an invincible move that could block all attacks, in reality, it wasn't that outrageous. Once the power gap was too great, the move would fail.
"Sha-roooar!!"
The Aerodactyl, under the effect of Ancient Power, roared again. This time, a thick, crimson, blood-like energy surged from its body, reaching for the sky. Its power, already at its peak, somehow climbed another step, reaching an extremely terrifying degree. The entire Deep Pit Cave began to tremble with it, as if it could collapse at any moment.
"Rumble..."
The sound was similar to the commotion caused by the Hiker above. At this moment, they were less than two meters away from the surface rock layer.
"Is this the power of the Prehistoric Bloodline..."
It was the first time Ash and Gary had ever seen such crimson energy. They were both stunned by the power displayed before them, as if an Ancient Fierce Beast had traveled through time and space to appear right in front of them. They didn't even dare to breathe.
