Chapter 61 - SURVIVAL 18: TRAP part 2

"Ah!" I squirm in pain.

"What's wrong?" Sectwen asked.

"I sprained my legs," I lied.An old rotten trick but I hope it works.

Fifzen released my arms and supported me to stand up properly. They are kind, maybe they were just driven by emotions and the desire to win so they are like this. I'm sorry, but I have to do this—for my teammates who have sacrificed. I don't want their hard work to come to nothing. Fifzen is holding both of my arms from my back, Thirtwen is holding the needle in front of my glass bubble, Sectwen is leading them the way, and Ninezen is at the back of Fifzen. Looks like Sixth got a gist of what I am planning as she immediately picked up the big golden flag on the right corner side of the cave then swam away. Fifth pulled Fifzen and Thirtwen away from me. He held my right arm, and we swam away too.

Fifth, Sixth, and I swam faster. Sixth gave the flag to Fifth to secure it. Although they were surprised by what I did, they did not ask first. Fifth was holding the largest golden flag hidden on the side. I turned around and the three of us followed. We just kept swimming until we thought we would first rise above the water to see how far or close we are to the floating finish line. We felt joy in our hearts to see that we were only about 40 meters away. I can already see the red ribbon attached to the two sticks stuck in the sand, the finish line. Just a little and-

"Hey! You can't escape us!" someone yelled.

They are already catching upon us.

"Sixth!" Fifth calls her and throws the big golden flag at her which she immediately catches. "I'll slow them down!"

Fifth sacrificed himself that he immediately rushed Fifzen and Sixzen. I saw Sectwen continue to swim to chase us.

"You won't get to the finish line!" I gasped when Sectwen shouted. She's enraged.

We ignored her and just continued to swim. I turned around and saw Sectwen hold Sixth's hair and pierce her glass bubble.

"Haha! I told you," She is mocking us.

I came back to help Sixth.

"Leave her alone!" I shouted but Sectwen just sneered.

Sixth handed me the flag then smiled. I grabbed it out of confusion. With that smile, she sank and was swallowed by the water.

"No! Sixth!" I thought we were going to swim together to reach the finish line. "What do you want, Sectwen? You weren't like this before?!" I confronted her.

She snickered. "Before? Ah! Of course, I used to." She even pointed herself. "It's gone. The old me is gone. Now that I know what my real life is, my life is miserable! The reason I joined this game was because I want to live in a fair world. To claim what I deserved, you all must die! "

She started swimming to chase me. Are her memories back? If that's how desperate she is to win the game and if that's also the reason why I'm here now... can't we just have the same experience while we were still on earth?

"You're not paying attention."

She surprised me by trying to pierce my bubble. I should protect this. Despite it, I got out of her and hit her with the flagstick so that she is in pain.

"You b*tch-aw!" she cursed.

I'm sorry, Sectwen. I don't want to do this but please I need you to let me go.

"Sh*tty teammates!" she cursed again.

I ignored her and tried to remain focused. I swam and it was only 25 meters. Oh no! I couldn't help but sneer at the pain I felt. I stopped swimming and stayed afloat. I rolled my eyes and was surprised to see Sixzen behind me.

"W-Why?" Sectwen has backup. Fifth was not able to stop Sixzen because he also faced Fifzen. This is bad. I'm all alone. Where is my team? How did it turn out like this?

"I'm sorry, Second, I hurt you. By the way, we've already completed your three silver flags, and you?" she looked at me holding a large gold flag. "Looks like we're the winner, goodbye!" then she swam under me.

I writhed in pain when Sixzen wounded my foot with a rough and sharp rock while I was swimming. Annoying. She injured me to buy time.

Will I still swim and beat Sixzen? They have completed the three flags. We only have one. The gold team found the two small silver flags. The only reason I continued to swim was because of the possibility that we could still win even though the chances of that happening are very low.

If I am only 25 meters away from the finish line, will I still give up? I-I shouldn't! I forgot about the excruciating pain and continued swimming. Sixzen turned to me grinning. 15 meters... I'm a bit ahead of Sixzen. It looks like carrying the three flags slow her down.he's That's an advantage for me.

"You can't beat me, Second!" And she even pushed me to the right. Maybe she forgot we were in the water, and I wouldn't stumble?

12 meters...

"Argh!" I groaned. Why do we have to do something like this?

Sixzen slapped me with a flagstick on my shoulder.

10 meters...

She was about to punch me when I pulled away, so she released the two flags. I just kept swimming. She also swam to retrieve the flags and became more aggressive.

7 meters...

When I got close, she grabbed my left foot and bit it, so I twisted in pain again. This is not fair anymore! She uses bold violence so I will use a strategy not to hurt, but to annoy. I swam first when she swam even though he was a little ahead of me. When she got close, she climbed up for a moment and smiled to see the finish line up close. I called her when I saw that she had no more glass bubbles. How did that happen? Then I saw that she was holding a needle. Sectwen must have given it to her to burst mine but was not able to.

"Sixzen!"

She turned around. Then I spit her eyes. I swam too fast.

5 meters...

"Whaaa!" she screamed in pain.

I'm sorry, Sixzen! She must be feeling her eyes ache so bad as if her eyes had been soaked in salty water. I don't want to do this but at the same time, my team is hoping for me to win this. I don't know what happened to the rest of them, but this is the least that I can do who put their trust in me. Now that I witnessed them, my friends, and even myself being like this, being desperate can be really scary. We are all fighting for something, but victory demands something in return. Now, I can see clearly how friendship ties are slowly breaking off because of this game that forced us to play with.

She chased after me while squinting her eyes. She pulled my legs again. Didn't my plan work? No, that should work.

"Argh!" I groaned.

After she pulled my legs, I felt a slight hint of pain in my ankle. Sixzen must have sprained my ankle. I bit my lower lip. This is really getting bad. I tried to ignore the pain in my ankle and exerted myself to my limit. I should finish this game and reach the finish line no matter what. I'm so near yet the finish line feels so far.

1 meter

Here I come…
