Chapter 9 - 9. Pink diamond

"We can go to another salon, it doesn't have to be here, Riki," said Angeline when Riki's car suddenly pulled up in front of The Queen Crown.

One of the largest, most luxurious, and most expensive salons in the country. The salon has even expanded internationally, making it famous for its premium quality.

Even for the smallest treatment, tens of thousands of dollars will fly away.

But precisely because of that, Riki was even more eager to take Angeline there.

"This is just a small thing, Angeline. I just want the best for you. If I can give you the best, why would I settle for second best? You should know that you deserve to be treated like a queen. So, what are you waiting for?"

Riki got out of the car, while Angeline sat there speechless. It wasn't because she was waiting for Riki to open the door for her—well, Riki did do that. But Angeline just couldn't believe that Riki would take her to such an elite place.

Even as a daughter from a prominent family, Angeline rarely went to that salon.

"Maybe you don't know how expensive this salon is—"

"Angel, I've checked everything online. Chill, I know the prices and can afford it. You said you wanted a romantic dinner, so of course you have to look your best, right?"

At that moment, Angeline felt like crying. Because Riki was treating her so well. It was far from what she had imagined when thinking about going on a date with Riki.

In Angeline's imagination, they would just walk around and eat at a cheap place.

But what happened was the opposite.

Actually, Angeline didn't expect to be treated this well.

Angeline took Riki's outstretched hand, waiting for Angeline to take it.

They walked into the salon. The salon staff greeted them warmly and politely.

"Give this beautiful girl the best treatment, because tonight we're having dinner at the most luxurious place. Also, give her a suitable dress; don't worry about the cost, okay?" Riki said.

"Riki…"

"Angel, why are you always worried about the cost?"

"Well, because…" Riki pulled out his card and smiled slightly.

"I'll pay for everything now, so you can relax, okay, Angel?" Riki said.

Angeline agreed, though she still felt unsure. Many fears arose in her mind.

They selected everything Angeline needed at that moment, until they reached the total price.

"The total is $250,000, sir. You're lucky because you got a 5% discount since you're the first customers on a date. We have a promotion for young couples."

Riki couldn't believe they got a discount and the total was still that much. But it was amazing!

[You got 750,000$!]

Yeah, that's what made Riki happy.

Angeline couldn't believe it; Riki was smiling so widely after paying, instead of being sad because so much money was gone.

Actually, how much money does Riki have right now?

Didn't he already pay 80,000$ to Kaivan earlier?

"It's only that much, Angel, why do you look so worried? I'll go prepare a surprise for you. I'll pick you up at eight o'clock tonight, okay?"

Riki doesn't look like he's running out of money. But— who knows. Is Angeline overthinking it?

"You should relax, miss. If I had a boyfriend like that, I'd be tense too. It must be really hard because so many people are after him."

Angeline just chuckled at that. The salon staff didn't know what was really going on, but from their perspective, that's how it must look.

Back to Riki.

He left to take care of everything.

First, he would rent out the entire Skydine tonight.

It was the most luxurious restaurant atop the largest hotel in the city. Renting out an entire restaurant for one night, of course, wasn't cheap.

Riki had rented it easily, of course with the system's help. But the restaurant was a matter for later.

Now, Riki was heading to where the pink diamond ring was.

Riki's car has arrived at the largest jewelry store in town. Information about the pink diamond ring, of which there are only two in the country, is currently available at the store.

The problem is, Riki isn't the only one who wants the ring.

There are already ten people waiting in line to buy the two rings.

A small auction will be held inside the store in about fifteen minutes. Even some media outlets are covering it. Because such things are very popular with the public. When people compete for expensive items, when people spend money on a ring.

However, Riki didn't mind, because he loved drama and money. The more money he had to spend to get the ring, the more he would get back.

After waiting for fifteen minutes, the small auction finally began in the hall inside the large jewelry store.

"Isn't that Riki?"

"Damn it, why is he here?"

Hearing his name mentioned, Riki turned to his right and smirked at who he saw.

Anton's friend, who was far richer than Anton, came from a family almost as prestigious as the Velhart or Harland families.

Alvin Moretz and Gidion Dahl.

The spoiled children of those wealthy families often helped Anton to bully Riki.

Another fact about them was that their fathers were also rivals of Riki's father in the past.

Riki still kept an eye on them, as there was a possibility that those people had accused his father of corruption in the past. Anton's father, Alvin's father, or Gidion's father.

"Oh, hi, do you guys want to buy a ring too?" Riki asked, feigning friendliness.

They chuckled, though Riki was sure there was nothing funny about his question.

"Of course, Riki. We're not begging like you are here," said Alvin.

"You might be able to get some trash to sell later, Riki, keep up the spirit!" replied Gidion, and they all laughed together.

People with strange senses of humor.

"We'll see later, whether I'll be scavenging trash or getting a diamond ring," said Riki, remaining very calm.

Riki's eyes and ears were focused on the store employee on the small stage in front of them. He no longer heard Alvin and Gidion's meaningless chatter, which was still mocking him.

The jewelry store employee showed a pink diamond ring that was up for auction.

It had a beautiful design, with a cute heart-shaped pink diamond weighing 0.46 carats. Surrounded by small white diamonds around it.

The starting price was $195,000.

People began bidding with various prices. Alvin and Gidion, who had come with their respective girlfriends, also joined in. But they fell silent when the ring's price exceeded $300,000.

Frustrated by their lack of funds, they started mocking Riki.

"Look at him, not saying a word and just watching. I'm sure he's thinking of a way to rob the people who came here," said Gidion.

"What are poor people doing coming to a place like this?" replied Alvin.

Riki smirked at that moment.

"550,000 dollars! If no one else bids, then—"

Riki stood up then, holding up the board he had written the price he was offering on.

"Oh, the gentleman over there is offering 600,000$! If no one else bids, the ring will go to the young gentleman over there."

No one else bid, so Riki got the ring.

Riki then turned to Alvin and Gidion, who were staring in disbelief.

"Why? Can't you bid that much for your girlfriends? That's so sad."

Alvin and Gidion's girlfriends began to look embarrassed.

"You're just talking big, Riki! You haven't even paid for the ring yet!" said Alvin.

Riki smiled broadly, then sat back down.

"Of course not, who said I'd only buy one ring?"

"Has he lost his mind?"

Well, maybe Riki had lost his mind, especially when looking at the system screen showing how much he had earned so far.

[You have earned 1,800,000$]
