Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Where's the promised wand

selection wizard?

After Ollivander had cleaned up the mess Tom had made while choosing wands, he turned to Levander.

"Okay, your turn. Is your dominant hand left or right?"

  "Right."

"Okay, please stand still while I take your measurements..."

Then, the familiar process resumed.

After collecting the data, Ollivander delved into the pile of wands again.

When he emerged, he was clutching seven or eight wand boxes in each hand.

"It's quite strange, you two are quite similar... At least five of these were tried by the gentleman just now."

Ollivander put down the wand boxes and looked at Levander and Tom with interest.

It was Tom's turn to sit on the bench and eat his ice cream.

He frowned again at Ollivander's words.

"What do you mean by that?" Tom asked.

"He means that we share many similar traits," Levander replied.

"That's right! So, some wands suit both him and you," Ollivander said with a smile.

Suddenly, Levander asked, "So... if I use Tom's wand, would it suit me too?"

"Haha, maybe it would be perfect!" Ollivander said happily.

"No! It's my wand, don't even think about it!"

Tom quickly pocketed the yew wand he had been holding so fondly.

"Don't be so stingy, Tom.

If there's ever a special situation and I need your wand, are you really not going to lend it to me?" "

  Forget it!"

Tom covered his pocket and viciously scooped up a large piece of ice cream with a spoon, as if digging into Levander's head.

"Haha, you two really are close friends.

It reminds me of our good friend..." Ollivander said with a smile.

Tom glared at Ollivander angrily.

"I don't know him well."

"Mr. Ollivander, he's still sulking about the ice cream.

We don't need to worry about him," Levander said with a smile.

Ollivander also remembered his business.

"Okay... then, let's try these five first. These are the five your friend just tried."

With that, Ollivander handed a sandalwood wand to Levander.

  "Buzz!"

As Levander tightened his grip on the wand, a dazzling white light emanated from it!

"Ah! Excellent! This wand suits you perfectly!" Ollivander exclaimed delightedly.

He hadn't expected that Tom had such a hard time choosing a wand, while Levander, whose characteristics were so similar to his, had succeeded on his first try.

Ollivander was about to embark on a second, arduous "battle.

" Tom's mouth dropped open, staring intently at Levander's back.

How could he have been chosen so quickly?

There's no harm without comparison. Thinking back to how much trouble he had just gone through to finally find the right wand... Tom felt very unhappy!

However, Levander's face didn't show much joy.

Instead, he was sizing up the wand in his hand, seemingly lost in thought, which struck Ollivander as odd.

"...You've got the perfect wand, but why don't you look excited?" Ollivander asked.

"Indeed...this wand looks great, but...I just don't think it's the best for me.

" Levander raised his head and said,

"Oh, if you say that, the wand in your hand will be unhappy.

After all, it's the wand that chooses the wizard, not the wizard who chooses the wand." Ollivander's expression grew a little serious.

"No offense, Mr. Ollivander. I just think... since it's the wand that chooses the wizard, shouldn't I give the other wands a chance to observe me? After all, as you just said, these wands are actually very suitable for me. It just depends on who can choose me, right?"

Ollivander nodded.

"Okay, you have a point.

If that's the case, then let's try them all."

Ollivander didn't have any objections to this.

After all, the wands were already out, so it wouldn't be a big deal to let Levander try them.

Tom couldn't help but curl his lips when he saw Levander actually wanted to try other wands, and then finished the last bite of ice cream.

He felt Levander was wasting his time...

"This wand has a black walnut shaft and a dragon's nerve core..."

  "Buzz!"

Ollivander hadn't even finished his introduction when the black walnut wand in Levander's hand began to glow with golden light!

"Huh?" Ollivander's mouth dropped open, and he forgot to continue his introduction.

He had never seen anyone experience unusual phenomena with two wands in a row.

After all, only when a wizard gets a new wand that's perfectly suited to them would they experience phenomena like glowing lights...

But how could such a perfect wand ever have a second one?

"Hmm... it still feels a little off. Can I try a third one?" Levander handed the black walnut wand back to Ollivander.

"Oh... of course, of course..." Ollivander quickly produced a third wand.

In fact, at this point, Ollivander was eager to see if the third wand would exhibit any unusual properties.

So much so, that Ollivander even forgot to introduce the wands.

This time, the wand didn't glow.

However, the moment Levander picked up the wand,

  "Swish!"

The wand box directly above the wand tip transformed into a squeaking little white mouse!

"Oh! Merlin! This wand actually suits you better than the previous two!" Ollivander exclaimed.

Only then did he realize that Levander's words about neither wand being the best for him weren't an exaggeration.

"Still a little short..." Levander handed the waxy yellow wand back.

Ollivander no longer had any objections and continued to offer another wand...

Sure enough, the strange phenomena continued.

Sometimes they glowed, sometimes they deformed objects, sometimes a thick fog suddenly appeared in the room, sometimes objects in the store levitated, and sometimes Levander himself floated...

The strangeness and irrationality of each event left Ollivander stunned for a long time.

Tom, watching from the back, suddenly felt the yew wand in his pocket lose its appeal after seeing all this commotion.

Before long, a vast pile of wands had piled up on Ollivander's counter.

The constant flickering of light made passersby think the shop was thundering.

A moment later, Ollivander, holding a reddish-brown wand, excitedly asked, "What's this wand made of?"

"Oh... this one, it's made of beechwood, with a core made of dragon nerve. Twelve and a third inches, very flexible..."

Suddenly, Ollivander paused, stunned to discover that the wand in Ollivander's hand held no signs of anything unusual.

Ollivander tapped the wand on the white mouse he'd accidentally conjured.

"Whoosh!"the mouse instantly transformed back into its wand box.

"How...how is this possible? This wand doesn't appear to have any special effects in your hand, but...it seems to be more compatible with you...no! It's the most compatible ever!"

Ollivander felt as if his previous understanding had been misplaced...

"That's because it's a little shy...I can sense that." Levander handed over the beech wand. "I'll take this one."

"Ah...of course, of course..." Ollivander seemed a little distracted.

"I'm sorry to have made such a mess here," Levander said.

"Oh, that's okay...it's okay..." Ollivander finally came to his senses.

Tom suddenly asked, "Hey, didn't you say that the wand chooses the wizard? How come he's choosing the wand now?"

"...Ah, it seems my understanding of wandology isn't as thorough as I thought..." Ollivander sighed.

  "The wand chooses the wizard..."

Ollivander glanced at Levander and continued, "The wizard also chooses the wand...Merlin, I've never seen that happen before!"
