The rest of the journey passed in tense silence, the air filled with unspoken words.
Soon after, they arrived at Golden Vila. Willow hesitated near the car door, trying to figure out how to help Rainer without offending him. Before she could decide, Ken was already there, smoothly positioning the wheelchair and helping Rainer into it.
Willow hurried to follow, walking beside Rainer. "Let me push you inside," she offered.
"No need," Rainer's tone was flat. His eyes shifted to Ken, who, without a word, stepped forward and gripped the wheelchair handles.
Rainer gave Willow an indifferent glance, his voice cold and distant. "It's late. You should eat. I have important business in the office."
He would return to the study again.
She watched Rainer leave with a sense of uncertainty, feeling like the distance between them more like space wall than empty space.
