Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 – Growth.

After acquiring the skill [Golem Crafting] alongside learning the basic knowledge about golem crafting, the dungeon master had finally started an proper research and developing the of the coding, showing now noticeable results.

The dungeon monsters were not only able to do extremal basic commands now, but with each passing test and experiment, their actions were improving more and more.

Their movements became more refined, more useful and more deadly.

And this wasn't all.

The dungeon master started seeing some things it couldn't see before when it came to its wooden mannequin and human mannequin.

The first difference was coding.

Different bodies require different coding.

The wooden mannequin body was extremely simple and extremely simple coding will do.

However, the human mannequin body require more coding and it could use more specific coding.

Not only that, but after now apply the basic coding, the power of the human mannequins became clearer unlike before.

Not only their bodies were able to move somewhat better than wooden mannequins, but the difference in the physical power had also became now way better.

However, the human mannequin bodies were…. Only "better" than wooden mannequins. There were an limit of what they can and what kind of coding they could handle.

But right now, they can somewhat handle the basic enemies like the horned rabbits somewhat instead of getting one sidedly beaten down….. But the dungeon master wasn't satisfied.

Wooden mannequins don't have anything like claws or sharp parts of their bodies; they use their thump arms like clubs while the human mannequins pretty much punched.

The human mannequins had fingers, but no sharp claws.

Can using its fist be really enough?

….

"!"

And then an idea came.

An very simple and plain idea.

"What if I give these puppets an weapon to wield?"

The idea was good…. But problem already came.

The dungeon master didn't had enough weapons.

It had some of the rabbit horns, since it though they could be somewhat used as weapons, including the murder rabbit horn, it had also sword, long sword, dagger, bow and staff…. But there was no way it could be enough for the dungeon monsters.

So, it started wondering…. And then where it tried using the dungeon core and informations it had to figure out an answer.

And there was an answer.

Dungeon can produce items by using its DP, but the process was complicated.

The first problem was that dungeon COULD produce materials, but they need do to an research AND it needed an data very often in order to create an lead.

What sort of lead? Simple put, absorbed enough of the specific material in order to create an research path for the dungeon.

So yes, the dungeon was capable of making stuff besides monsters, like iron ingots or other sorts of materials.

Then what about weapons?

Well, it was possible, but the problem is that the dungeon couldn't really make some sort of "legendary" weapon left and right.

It needed to research and design its own weapons in order to give it to the monsters. And the option of just having dungeon absorb the "legendary sword" will only give "sword" result. The dungeon itself needs to create its own weapons and design them from the scratch.

So, dungeon can create materials and weapons, good, right?

Well, no.

It cost DP.

However, there was an way to go around it.

"FAKE BODY".

Dungeon monsters bodies are fake and cannot operate outside the dungeon.

And there is an trick that can provide an small upgrade to the monsters called "fake gift", simply put, you can equip an goblin monster with an armor and weapon, resulting in the dungeon monster having its own armor and weapon without using all of the DP to create the weapon.

However, this method had 4 side effects.

Dungeon monsters needs to be born alongside the same weapon, the monsters who are already in the dungeon cannot be given these special upgrades. Only the dungeon creates that were equipped with these weapons can wield these weapons, simply put, these weapons are part of monster being. These weapons disappear when the monster wielding them dies. These upgrades aren't free; dungeon master still needs to spend DP points to 'upgrade' its monsters.

This is the basic information about dungeon item production as well as the dungeon weapon equipment system.

Now, here is the question what sort of weapons the dungeon master could give the monsters?

There were few weapons that the dungeon COULD provide to the monsters, but the problem was the cost.

Even with the reduced cost of giving "fake gift", the cost of giving an single weapon was still high and there also came the materials that could be used.

And there was also the problem that the dungeon was still very young and was also "Poor", so something like iron weapons were out of the dungeon master league…. The only thing it could make though was only this.

[Wooden Club]

An very simple. An piece of wood that can be used as weapon. Simplest and cheapest weapon.

"Still better than nothing"

Though the dungeon master.

However, the dungeon master then realized an new problem.

The puppets didn't knew how to use the weapon at all.

This requires an new sets of coding and work.

….

But did the puppet had time?

Honestly, even after seeing the light of the hope it was still terrified, still terrified of the future…..

But it also knew that if it won't do anything, it will die.

And so, it started researching and developing its puppet to learn how to wield the clubs.

….

The time went by.

Dungeon master continue its research while the dungeon monsters generated miasma.

Things were going…. "Peacefully".

However,…. The dungeon master froze with fear as soon as he found out that somebody had invaded the dungeon.

The terrified dungeon master used the dungeon management to see who was the intruders…. And the it go scared

(Unknown! Unknown enemy!)

The brand new enemy it never seen before had made its way into the dungeon that wasn't horned rabbit nor human.

Grey wolves.

The horned rabbit territory was left abandoned by the monsters and no monsters showed any sort of interested, since the source of food "rabbits" were gone.

But obviously, sooner or later some monsters would decide to make this place territory their own.

And the monsters that wanted to take this place were the grey wolves.

Right now, 3 of these wolves had made their way into the dungeon, walking around and sniffing around while the dungeon master was both curios and terrified. It wanted to know what sort of creatures they were…. But it was also scared and worried about "how strong they are?"

And then, didn't took long for them to encounter the dungeon monsters, waiting to confront them.

"…"

(Not rabbits. Unknown monster.)

(Danger? Low? High?)

(Unknown.)

(Test, basic conducted.)

(…)

(Assert the danger.)

The wolves growled and rushed at the puppets, tackling one of the wooden mannequins, but as soon as they were, the human mannequin swinged around club and hit the wolve in the face, surprising the wolves.

The dungeon monsters that confronted wolves were the mix of the wooden mannequins accompanied with some human mannequins.

But the wolves didn't cared as they started attacking the puppets, trying to destroy them, while the dungeon master observed the fight.

The wolves bit into the puppet wooden bodies, destroying them, but it wasn't an once side fight this time.

The mannequin monsters were able to swing much better now, allowing them to hits much easier, while the human mannequins were now able to deal some proper damage after being equipment with clubs.

However, the wolves were noticeable stronger than rabbits and were far more easily destroying the puppet bodies.

At first dungeon master was scared and worried, thinking that it needed get ready as it though its dungeon monsters may once again end up getting wiped out.

It saw its monster getting killed and it already realized that the wolves notable stronger than rabbits, even one of its human mannequins was taking an beating….. But then it saw one of the wolves completely catching the dungeon master off guard as it didn't expected that.

The wolves didn't gave up and continue fighting, but the puppets fought back, they were not going down easily.

THEY WERE FIGTHING BACK AND WOUNDING THE INVADERS.

The second wolve was killed, exciting the dungeon master….. And then the last wolve was killed, wiping out the invaders.

It couldn't believe its eyes!

The puppet beats the wolves!

However, obviously not without sustaining damage and stuff, not some damage that can't be ignored, but still, the puppets did it!

The dungeon master honestly believed that the dungeon monsters would all get wiped out, but here they are! They had destroyed the dungeon master expectation and won the battle!

The puppet honestly was still overcome with fear and terror after the swordman fight.

"What if it won't work?"

"What if this isn't the right path?"

"What if this is all wrong?"

"What if this will make only things worse?"

It was doubting itself.

It was scared.

It though all would fail.

It didn't had any faith in its monsters.

"Despair"

It was slowly entering the dungeon master head as it continue asking questions over and over its head, thinking that maybe none of its answer were really correct.

….

But now?

The "HOPE" it could see before was just an light, but now? It was an "path".

"This dungeon can develop"

"This dungeon can survive!"

The despair that tried to invade the creature body had like that instantly disappeared as soon as the hope was no longer an light but an path to the future, an path to survival that it was desperately searching for!

"…"

"But this isn't enough."

It though.

"This is nowhere near enough."

It though.

Even though it was overcome with joy, the dungeon master started asking itself questions once again, wondering about the future.

Even though it had gotten rid of the "despair" in its head, it realized that it's not over.

The dungeon was still in danger.

If somebody like swordman came or maybe two of them, this dungeon would never survive, even with its upgraded state.

The "despair" was gone and the dungeon master could think now somewhat more straight…. But it then realized something.

"One hope isn't enough"

"One path isn't enough.

"Grow."

"Become stronger."

"Expand."

"Develop."

"Experiment."

"Learn."

It needed more.

IT NEEDED MORE PATHS!

IT WANTED MORE PATHS!

IT NEEDED MORE ASNWERS!

IT CURIOSITY WAS SOMETHING THAT COULD BE USED TO SURVIVE!

It wanted to hunt down everything that stood in its path.

Hunt down everything that stopped it.

And hunt down everything that dare to invade the dungeon.

If not, then dungeon will be the one getting hunted down and killed.

Kill or be killed.

"The research will continue."
