Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 – Research in desperation.

"The enemy invaded the dungeon."

"The enemy was strong enough to invade the dungeon and possible destroy it."

"The enemy retreated even though they didn't had any problems what so ever."

Those are the three questions that the dungeon master asked itself about the situation.

The two question that the dungeon master understood was 1 and 2, but the third was completely random and did not made any sense at all to the dungeon master.

However, what it did understood in that desperate situation is that the predators may come back here at any moment, so it needs to continue preparing and don't stop researching.

So, the dirt golem research and how it went.

The dirt golems that the dungeon master had made and the dungeon expansion were both going better and better…. But there no extremely big break thoughts.

Right now, the best dirt golem that the dungeon master had made was an gorilla like golem, with thick body and especially large and thick arms.

The reason why the dungeon master made this brute looking golem was simple, dirt.

The thing bodied dirt golem had their body easily collapsing and were getting constantly destroyed from their own actions.

This problem could be prevented by giving it stronger core… But it wasn't worth it, the golem now had too much energy and that was instead causing it to self-destruct since dirt couldn't handle it.

So instead, it tried making an bigger golem, an one with much thicker body that wouldn't collapse.

The attack power of the golem was notice stronger, buts its movement was sluggish, since the form of the creature wasn't really working its favor.

It tried smoothing its body, but it didn't worked, it wouldn't keep an proper shape at all, resulting in the golem keeping its rough appearance.

And that was the end.

The humanoid dirt golem was working perfectly and it was an finished golem prototype and that was the golem prototype that the dungeon master had "targeted" and put it in the dungeon monster catalog, allowing the dungeon to produce this monster.

However, it wasn't finished with this research.

"…"

(If thick body is good, if big body is good, then what about make it bigger?)

As simple though that led to the next experiment, with resulted in the gorilla like monster.

The test and experiment was successful and this golem had already showed its power to the dungeon master….. But there was problem.

It wasn't enough.

It was nowhere near enough to beat predators.

Not only that, the dungeon master didn't made any BIG discoveries that it had hoped for…. And the despair had marched forwards towards the dungeon master head further in.

But it didn't stopped experimenting.

(If not the monster, then body.)

The dungeon master switched over to his other objective, creating stronger body.

However, there was problem as soon as the dungeon master used the DP to get himself some wood… He cannot carve properly.

The blades it's had, claws, stones or the rabbit horns won't do at all.

It needed an proper tools.

But another problem popped up.

Miasma.

Even creating simple items and tools does use DP and the dungeon is still too weak to have an big output, not only that but over half of the dungeon monsters had been slain by the predators that entered recently.

"Was there any way to secure large amount of miasma in short amount of time?"

That was the question that dungeon master asked itself…. But honestly, it couldn't find anything that would give it an direct answer.

So instead, it started searching around, trying to find where it could get miasma.

"!"

And the answer came.

"Dungeon monsters manifestation"

The dungeon monster will absorbed portion of the miasma they produce and once they had accumulated enough of their own miasma, they will manifest, obtaining the true body AND their manifestation will also cause an burst of miasma, giving it to the dungeon.

This was an interesting discovery.

….

However, there was problem.

The first problem would be obvious; the monsters would need to stay alive long enough to complete the manifestation.

These monsters were too weak, they wouldn't survive…. The only way to do it would be to guard the monsters with different monsters and make sure that the monsters would survive long enough to manifest.

But that plan wouldn't work.

The predators would take down any defenses and monsters protecting the dungeon.

Nor the dungeon can even make strong enough monsters to even put up a fight against these predators.

Should the dungeon master then create new monsters? Specifically, the dirt golems and see if they would be able to do anything? They are maybe slow, but their offensive power is way higher than other puppets.

No. It wouldn't work.

The predator with the shield was able to easily destroy puppets without being bothered…. He was holding back then…. No chance.

Then does that mean that the dungeon master has to focus instead on creating itself new body?

But-

"!?"

(Intruder.)

The dungeon master instantly was filled with the dread.

"Did the predators returned already?!"

Despair raged on inside the puppet head, causing it to panic and be afraid of what will come…..The dungeon master opened its "camera" and…. Saw somebody else?

"Huh…. So, this is that puppet dungeon?" – asked the young girl with long brown hair.

"Pretty much…. But are we sure we should be going here as soon they announced it?" – asked the girl with glasses.

"Yeb, its an low rank and stuff, we can pretty much take it on easily." – said the confided girl with red hair.

"Anyway, common."

"…"

(Not predators?)

The dungeon master was quiet surprised and catched off guard.

It was expecting the predators from before, but instead an different group of invaders appeared?

3 people.

3 young girls.

….

They looked and reminded the dungeon master of the first adventurers that the puppet had killed.

"???"

Confusion.

It didn't understood what was going on.

"Where the hell are predators from before?"

"Who are these new invaders?"

The dungeon master was completely baffled with the current situation and it really didn't knew if should take it easy… Or be still filled with despair.

….

So, it watched.

It watched as the group of the adventures made their way into the dungeon and before they had encountered the puppet monsters.

"?!?!?"

However, unlike the people from before, they had visible struggled against the puppets, especially against human mannequins.

They managed to beat one, but they struggled a bit….. And in the end, the group gathered all the loot they could get and retreated.

"…"

(What is going on?) – though the dungeon master.

(They were not dangerous, but they had some power.)

It was an total confusion.

The dungeon master did not understood at all what had happened…. It didn't understood what was going on….. But it returned back to its research.

However, after sometime had passed while the puppet was in the middle of its research, another party of the adventures barged into the dungeon, this time the group was much larger and noticeable stronger, with the dungeon master understood when it saw them diving deeper into the dungeon, taking down the monsters and gathering the loots, alarming the dungeon master as it though it should get ready to fight…. But then they also retreated.

The dungeon master somewhat understood why they had retreated; they were exhausted and stuff…. So, it once again resumed its research… And as the time went by, an single adventurer went in and got his ass kicked by the puppets, almost getting killed, but managing to somehow get away and run away.

"…"

"WUT."

The dungeon master was completely confused.

"First strong, then weak, then weak but bit stronger, then extremely weak."

The pattern of the recent invaders didn't made any to the dungeon master.

Not only that, but all invaders were the same kind of being.

Not rabbits or sometimes wolves, but instead just humans.

There were no rabbits or wolves appearing at all now as well.

"What is going on?"

The dungeon master didn't understood at all what was going on with the recent attacks….. And so, the explanation is needed.

Why the dungeon wasn't destroyed by the inspection party?

This is the simples and straight forward question.

And as for the answer, simple.

Profit.

Dungeons are sources of the profit and growth for the adventures.

Not only for them, but also for the settlements and nobles as well.

An source of money and power.

Isn't this something appealing?

….

And by now the situation became clear.

They are trying to domesticate the dungeon, turn it into the source of income.

The adventurer guild and the nobles are aiming to enslave the dungeon, turning it into their profit machine.

An grim fate that the dungeon master wasn't aware of that its approaching for it and its dungeon.
