Chapter 16 - Dark Cave 5— her tears like a river of grief

Anyway he stored the knowledge in the back of his mind and decided to answer the little serpents innocent question.

Hence Black looked below at her with a contemplative expression.

Since the little serpent would not believe if he were to simply tell her that he won't eat her or had any intention of harming her at all.

Just gazing at those two beautiful Scarlett orbs Black could tell that she was still fearful and wary of him.. and he could guess it must be because of what she went through in just those 4 hours after her birth.

He wondered 'just what kind of horrible experience did she went through within those 4 hours. To make a 4 hours old baby this untrustful, fearful even terrified!?' Nevertheless no matter how curious he was about the outside and what happened to her. Black first have to win her trust. And to that end he changed his question a little, asking in the language she understood.

"Of course neither will I kill you nor will I eat you only if.. you tell me who you are and how did you come in this cave!?" Black asked while he pointed his finger at the rough ceiling. Then the flat ground even the right wall behind him and the left wall behind her since she was coiled up at the end of the left wall.

The question was asked in the language she understood — First tell her that he wouldn't harm her then adding a threat of 'only if' she answered his question. And by seeing her reaction he knew that his plan of using the carrot and stick method worked.

But just from where did he learn this method was everyone's guess.

Meanwhile the little serpents onyx slits widened. Stunned. She understood that if she didn't tell this unknown creature 'who she was and how she got in this dark cave' he would surely eat her.. and then she would surely die.

'No, I don't want to die' The little serpent shuddered.

Thinking that. She quickly replied. She looked up at the unknown creature as her serpentine scarlett eyes shone in the abyssal darkness like two embers burning in the mouth of the cave.

She started. "Um.. hm.. I'm a magical beast born near the.. uh.. Near The Dark-Fall Lake outside of this small cave.. just a.. hmm.. a few hours ago and.. and as for how.. I.. I got in here.. th-that.. " although her voice was broken and even a little husky the little serpent still started to tell him who she was. She even told him that she was born in some place called 'Dark-Fall Lake' yet just as she got to the part of 'how she came in this dark cave' she started trembling.

Clearly whatever had happened to her had left her little-self traumatized. Evident that just by remembering the unfortunate incident she started trembling.

Seeing the little serpent trembling in fear. Black also got worried and moved a little closer about 10 centimeters or a single step close on his knees and asked.

"Are you alright little serpent.. you don't have— " But before he could continue.

He paused, his golden eyes widening...

...

Although the little serpent didn't panic or back off when seeing Black moving closer while she had abruptly stopped speaking.

She still looked at him, more precisely at his two golden orbs and seeing the worry in those pair of Golden eyes reminded her of her mother who died in front of her an hour or two ago.

All those pent up emotions — The griefs! The sorrow! The hurt! The sadness! All these tumultuous feelings and sensations.

Her little self just couldn't hold it in anymore when she remembered those traumatic scenes to answer Black's question previously furthermore seeing the same look in those golden eyes that she only saw in her mother.. even if she wasn't with her for more then an hour.

Thet was the last straw that broke the camel's back. She broke down, tears started spilling from her beautiful scarlet eyes, each one like a drop of blood shed by her very heart.

She cried — her tears like a river of grief — She cried with abandon.

"Waaa.. hicc.. hicc.."

"Waahhh.. sniff.. sniff.."

She cried really hard as she stared at those twin golden stars which had widened in shock. Those eyes remind her of her dead mother, her dead family, and the protection and security they provide.

As Black stared at the crying little serpent still on his knees. Stunned. Dazed. Even dumbfounded — she also gazed up at him with.. he couldn't tell what that look or emotion in those scarlett orbs hers ment.

He was confused even shocked — He had just asked her to tell him 'who she was' and 'how she got in this dark cave.'

While at the start everything was fine she even told him about the place she came from called The Dark-Fall Lake or something. He even thought 'it must be someplace outside of this dark cave' and even got excited at the prospect of learning something about the outside. However then as she continued to the next part, she started trembling and stuttering.

Then she suddenly stopped.

Black got worried as she trembled and stuttered so he only moved a little closer as he didn't want to frighten her even more then she already was and asked 'if she was alright' but before he could even continue.

He saw her eyes turning watery and she started crying! trembling while at the same time gazing up at him.

Initially Black thought that he had done something to make her cry when she stared him in the eye her innocent tears flowing like a broken river of grief. Since he couldn't even tell what that stare ment through her watery eyes.

He was already feeling really terrible and guilty seeing the state she was in — Crying so horribly.

Even so as time passed he could tell that the gaze the little serpent directed towards him. It wasn't one of blame like he had initially thought.

The gaze had some other emotion to it — another meaning that neither could he tell nor could he understand.

"Auuuu... "

"Wuuuu... "

While the little serpents grisly cries echoed in the Dark Cave, even Black felt his heart hurt by the immensity of the emotions he saw in those crying eyes, the pain, the sadness, the sorrow.

With a heavy heart Black wondered 'Just how much had she suffered or experience for her to show such complicated emotions just as a 4 hour old baby.'

He was overwhelmed by such negative emotions. He didn't know what he should do to lessen her suffering, to lessen her pain.

After thinking about it for a second he moved forward, towards the little serpent still on his knees not braking their eye contact.

Black advanced with a lumbering movement. The Dark-vail parting like clouds. Each step heavier then the other like a lost echo.

All the while He watched the little serpent crying in abandon —
