Walking through the virtual forest, Bai Xu and Gu Yue observed their surroundings without speaking aloud, communicating instead through telepathy. Their conversation had nothing to do with the ongoing competition.
"What do you think of Na'er?" Gu Yue had been wanting to ask this question ever since they met Na'er the other day.
"Hmm?" Bai Xu was slightly surprised but answered nonetheless. He pointed to his temple and smiled. "Not right in the head—utterly foolish."
"Foolish...?" Gu Yue was taken aback, not expecting such an evaluation.
"Actually, I talked with her a lot that day..." Gu Yue continued. "She became the disciple of Yun Ming, the dean of Shrek Academy and master of the Sea God's Pavilion. The Holy Spirit Douluo, Yali, even wanted to adopt her as her goddaughter."
"Ah, what a splendid life!" Bai Xu showed no surprise, instead lacing his words with sarcasm.
He said, "This kind of person can't even figure out their own origins. After barely integrating into human society with a shallow understanding, they forget their roots. On the surface, they seem noble and self-assured, but in reality, they're nothing more than puppets—pitifully insignificant. Add to that their indecisiveness, and they're simply not fit for the grand stage. If she had actually thrust that spear at me instead of just posturing, I might have called her decisive. Gu Yue, I'm genuinely worried about what will happen after you merge with her."
Gu Yue's eyes flickered. As expected, Bai Xu had already seen through Na'er. She asked, "Can you elaborate? About your assessment of Na'er."
Bai Xu glanced at her, then remained vigilant of their surroundings before replying, "Of course."
"She's a classic case of someone ruled by love. She throws herself recklessly into what can hardly even be called love, abandoning her true self as if her entire existence revolves around Tang Wulin. Three years of nurturing is indeed a great kindness, but it's not enough to make her forget her lineage and identity. And most importantly, she doesn't even understand her own life. Born from the Silver Dragon King, she possesses the top-tier martial soul, the Silver Dragon Spear. Her talent goes without saying—enough to make the world's strongest expert take her as a disciple and even want to adopt her. Do you think she earned any of this through her own efforts?"
Bai Xu's voice was calm. "She merely stands on your shoulders, effortlessly obtaining everything. The three blissful years of her youth are forever etched in her heart, consuming her entirely, leaving no room for anything else. If she lost her talent, lost that Silver Dragon Spear martial soul, all of this would be nothing but a dream—shattering in an instant."
Gu Yue was stunned. Her lips parted slightly, her eyes widening as she pondered his words. The more she thought about it, the more she realized how right Bai Xu was.
"What if I want her to return to me?" Gu Yue asked.
"Simple. Take back her talent and martial soul. Let's see if Na'er can still stand on her own in Shrek Academy."
In the Douluo Continent, no matter how beautiful or talented you were, if you couldn't keep up with the protagonist's team, you'd eventually fade into obscurity.
Once Na'er lost the Silver Dragon Spear and her monstrous talent—even if she retained innate full soul power—she would never rise again in this lifetime.
Yun Ming had seen more innate full soul power holders than there were students in Shrek Academy. And this was an era, twenty thousand years later, where combat power had exploded to absurd levels—dual martial souls weren't even considered top-tier anymore.
If Na'er could still earn Yun Ming's recognition and maintain her current status even after losing everything, it wouldn't matter—because she wouldn't be able to overcome the turmoil in her own heart.
Human nature could never withstand such tests.
Gu Yue nodded silently, a faint smile playing on her lips. "Bai Xu, what if Na'er falls in love with you?"
"Absolutely impossible." Bai Xu didn't even entertain the thought.
"Don't be so sure. And you should take the initiative too—because after we merge, I want to love you twice as much."
Bai Xu's heart skipped a beat, his face filled with disbelief. "Since when did you learn to flirt?"
"Don't overthink it. Right now, I know exactly what I'm doing."
Gu Yue's every smile and glance carried a hint of enchantment. The once aloof and sacred Silver Dragon had changed, as if the purest immortal had descended into demonhood—her allure surpassing even that of a succubus.
"Now!"
Unnoticed, enemies had been lying in ambush among the treetops, activating their martial souls to pounce on the two.
But fire elements materialized instantly, drowning them in a barrage of fireballs. Bai Xu and Gu Yue showed no surprise, continuing forward as if nothing had happened.
A sinister glint flickered in Gu Yue's violet-hued eyes. "It's time for Na'er to suffer a little."
"What are you planning?" Bai Xu asked.
"I want to make another bet with Na'er. If she wins, I won't take the Golden Dragon's origin energy—I'll spare Tang Wulin's life." After hearing Bai Xu's analysis, Gu Yue was brimming with confidence.
"She'll definitely take the bet!"
"You trust my judgment so much? What if I'm wrong?" Bai Xu chuckled.
"Then I'll forget about the Golden Dragon. Even on my own, I can fulfill the beast souls' aspirations."
The rest of their journey was no longer easy. Gradually, explosions, shouts, and chaotic noises erupted from all directions. It wasn't just Bai Xu's group fighting—the entire class of 101 students was competing for just three positions.
The intensity of the battle was unimaginable. These were all young talents, bold and unyielding, each carrying their own pride. None wanted to miss this chance to showcase their strength and leave a lasting impression on their teachers.

"Senior Brother, who do you think will become class monitor?" Shen Yi asked, gazing at the circle of large screens covering the room's walls as she spoke to Wu Zhangkong beside her.
"Tang Wulin," Wu Zhangkong replied.
"Tang Wulin? You're that certain?"
Wu Zhangkong nodded.
"But Gu Yue and Bai Xu are both far stronger than Tang Wulin. Especially Bai Xu—he hasn't even used his martial soul yet." Shen Yi watched the figure weaving effortlessly through the crowd, curiosity gnawing at her. How was he doing it? His physical strength alone allowed him to fight martial soul users head-on.
And he didn't even have Tang Wulin's mutated bloodline!
"Bai Xu and Gu Yue are aiming for the vice-monitor positions. The class monitor is the leader—it's not an easy role, and their ambitions lie elsewhere," Wu Zhangkong explained.
"Elsewhere? Right, they joined the Spirit Pagoda."

Virtual World.
Bai Xu effortlessly defeated multiple opponents, arriving before a young girl.
Her name was Wu Siduo. A pair of dark ears twitched atop her head, and her figure was far more developed than her age suggested. She stood coldly at the center of the arena, arms crossed.
As the top-ranked genius on the Young Talent Leaderboard, she was prepared to face all challengers.
The sound of Bai Xu's footsteps made her ears perk up. She opened her eyes to look at him.
Neither of them was the talkative type, so words were unnecessary—their fighting spirit said everything.
Wu Siduo instantly shifted, her Nether Spirit Cat martial soul enhancing her speed as she sought to overwhelm him with agility.
But as she darted forward, Bai Xu's figure flashed into her vision.
He had matched the Nether Spirit Cat's speed in an instant!
The next moment, nearly a hundred claw strikes rained down on Bai Xu—yet the man blocked every single one with his fists.
"Use your full strength. I, too, wish for a true battle." His voice carried a trace of loneliness, as if he had yet to find a worthy opponent among his peers—yet he recognized her strength.
