-------------------------------------------------------------

Early Morning.

Gu Yue approached Bai Xu, who finally had more free time after his breakthrough. During this period, he had been consolidating his cultivation and focusing primarily on his soul power.

The two chatted casually.

"Bai Xu, do you want to go tower climbing with me?" Gu Yue asked.

"Tower climbing? You mean going to the Spirit Pagoda to obtain a spirit soul?"

"Yes. Xiao Yan has broken through to the 30th rank. Her situation is a bit special—she needs a thousand-year spirit soul. But buying one directly is too expensive, so this is the only way to get it. The headquarters of the Spirit Pagoda has a Spirit Soul Tower with a total of 108 floors. Each floor is protected by different formations. If you clear a floor, you can select a spirit soul from that floor to purchase at a 50% discount."

Bai Xu thought for a moment and asked, "I remember there are ten-thousand-year spirit souls, even beast-grade spirit souls in the Spirit Soul Tower, right?"

"Yes. From the 18th to the 36th floor, there are ten-thousand-year spirit souls. Above the 36th floor are spirit souls with cultivation levels exceeding ten thousand years. It's said that the top nine floors house beast-grade spirit souls—those from soul beasts with over a hundred thousand years of cultivation, each one a rare and precious existence collected by the Spirit Pagoda over millennia."

"Alright, I'll go."

Gu Yue knew Bai Xu wanted to fight to his heart's content. His Five Viscera combat power was formidable, but no one knew exactly how strong he was. This was also an opportunity for him to test his limits.

"This trip requires a team approach, with a maximum of seven people. Right now, we have me, you, Xu Xiaoyan, Tang Wulin, and Xie Xie. Tang Wulin said he has two good candidates for the remaining spots."

Unsurprisingly, the other two were likely Yue Zhengyu and Yuanen Yehui. This would also give Bai Xu a chance to get to know Yuanen.

"Let's go then. You're the only one left—we'll introduce you to the others first." Gu Yue took Bai Xu's hand and led him out of the dorm. Everyone had gathered in Tang Wulin's room.

"Xiao Yan, I brought him!" Gu Yue pulled Bai Xu into the room, surprising Xu Xiaoyan.

She lowered her head shyly and said, "Bai Xu… would you be willing to help me with this?"

After all, Bai Xu's strength was undeniable. He had effortlessly defeated Wu Siduo, ranked seventh on the Young Genius Leaderboard, without a scratch. His true power was likely above that of a Soul Ancestor. Xu Xiaoyan had also asked Gu Yue about Bai Xu's strength—it was terrifyingly strong.

"Sure. If your third spirit ring requires a thousand-year spirit soul… it shouldn't be too difficult."

Hearing this, Xu Xiaoyan's eyes lit up with excitement. If Bai Xu said so, it meant one thing: success was guaranteed!

"The other two have also agreed. Yuanen is the strongest in the second grade, and she's also reached the 40th rank, so she needs a new spirit soul. The other one is Yue Zhengyu…" Tang Wulin said happily. This was not just an opportunity but also valuable experience that would benefit all of them.

"Can the Spirit Soul Tower be entered multiple times?" Bai Xu asked.

Gu Yue nodded. "Yes. Since both you and I have joined the Spirit Pagoda, we just need to apply for a qualification certificate to enter. But for the others, it's much harder unless an insider helps them with identity verification each time."

Clearly, this opportunity was hard-won.

Gu Yue added, "The qualification review will take a few days. Let's go on our next day off. Everyone should prepare. With seven people—and especially with Bai Xu—we can go much further, and Xiao Yan can get a good spirit soul."

"Thank you, Gu Yue… thank you, everyone!" Xu Xiaoyan bowed tearfully. Gu Yue had gone to great lengths to arrange this for her.

"Haha, no problem! We're all teammates!" Xie Xie reassured her.

Tang Wulin also chimed in, "That's right. We've come all the way from Eastsea City—we won't fall here. Xiao Yan, as long as we help each other, we'll definitely pass the final exams!"

Xu Xiaoyan was indeed feeling the pressure. If she didn't take things seriously, she might be eliminated in the first semester's final exams.

"What about you, Bai Xu? How will you handle the final exams?" Gu Yue suddenly shifted the topic to Bai Xu.

"Me?" Bai Xu was taken aback. What did the final exams have to do with him?

"Bai Xu, I remember your profile says you don't have a secondary profession, and you're in a group by yourself. Do you need our help?" Tang Wulin offered eagerly.

"No need. I'm not particularly interested in mechas, and if I wanted to, I could find a way to build one myself. No need to trouble everyone."

Bai Xu declined the offer and turned to Gu Yue. "Don't worry. If I want to, the final exams won't eliminate me."

His control over metal was becoming increasingly refined. With his powerful spiritual power, as long as he understood the basic structure of a mecha, he could easily replicate someone else's work.

At the very least, submitting a final project wouldn't be difficult.

"Alright then. In that case, how about we all go eat together?" Tang Wulin suggested.

The sun had just risen—it was time for breakfast.

But as soon as he said this, the others grew awkward, subconsciously moving closer to Bai Xu and farther away from Tang Wulin.

Xie Xie pointed out bluntly, "Captain, we don't dare eat with you!"

Tang Wulin's extreme appetite drew too much attention—it was embarrassing for everyone except him, who remained blissfully unaware, lost in the joy of food.

"Haha, I just can't help it!" Tang Wulin scratched his head and laughed awkwardly.

---

Late at Night.

Gu Yue couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned in bed, peering through the curtains at Bai Xu's silhouette. He wasn't cultivating—instead, he was staring out the window at the moonlight, lost in thought.

Deciding she wouldn't sleep either, she got up and said, "You finally have enough rest time after your breakthrough. Aren't you going to sleep?"

"Force of habit. Just thinking about some things, reviewing the situation," Bai Xu replied honestly.

Gu Yue was puzzled. Bai Xu always had a way of surprising her. "Reviewing? Reviewing what?"

Bai Xu smiled and stood beside her at the window. "Just my actions. But you, Gu Yue—you've improved a lot. Today, were you trying to use the others to persuade me to stay at Shrek Academy?"

Under his gaze, she averted her eyes slightly, as if her thoughts had been laid bare. "A… a little."

But then, as if steeling herself, she decided to voice her feelings.

Gu Yue locked eyes with Bai Xu, her tone firm at first but softening as she spoke. "Do you know, Bai Xu? I feel like I can't keep you. The more time I spend with you, the more I realize how insignificant I am. It's a feeling I've never experienced before. In the past, as the Silver Dragon, the mastermind behind everything, I felt like I controlled the world. But now I realize it was just a chessboard—even I was just a tiny piece, so small that being by your side makes me feel a little… inferior. It's as if you're the one who should be soaring through the world as the Silver Dragon, while I'm just an ordinary person, unable to stand beside you."

Her voice grew quieter, barely audible by the end.

But then she spoke up again, louder this time. "I want to keep you by my side!"

Perhaps Bai Xu's words about traveling the continent had left a deep impression on her. She didn't want him to leave. The time they had in their youth was already limited—if he left now, the next time they met, it might be as the Silver Dragon King, not as Gu Yue.

Under the moonlight, her silver-and-black hair shimmered. Her violet eyes, illuminated by the night, made her seem like an immortal descended to the mortal world, her aura transcendent.

Yet her gaze was filled with reluctance and longing for the person before her.

Bai Xu sighed softly. "I didn't expect my words that day to leave such a deep impression on you. But it wasn't an empty promise. Shrek Academy is just a stepping stone—I really do want to see more of the world…"

Suddenly, Bai Xu stepped forward, wrapping an arm around Gu Yue's waist and pulling her close. She blushed furiously, struggling slightly before giving in.

"Both of us have our own missions, Gu Yue. This is our responsibility, our duty—and our dream. What reason is there to stop someone chasing their dream?"

Gu Yue was stunned. Bai Xu always had a way with words, making everything sound so reasonable.

She bit her lip and whispered, "Yes… we're both free. But I cherish the present. So… can you leave a little later?"

Bai Xu smiled. "Of course. Even if I want to explore, I won't drop out after just one semester at Shrek and Gu Yue, grow well. In the future, you may come to understand the secrets of your dragon race… and the truth of the Dragon God."

"The truth?!" Gu Yue's heart raced. What else did Bai Xu know?

"Now's not the time. I won't say more." Bai Xu had successfully piqued her interest.
