Chapter 4 - Chapter Four  Escape!

Finding what Doctor Young had told her about the experiments unbelievable, Stacey continued looking around the lab for a way out. Could they really use people as super soldiers for the military? Stacey wondered.

'Come on, my dear,' the doctor purred as she held out her hand. 'Don't be foolish, there's no escape.'

As she spoke, a bright, orange light flashed, followed by a loud bang. Realising the change in her physique, she used her new-found strength and threw Doctor Young over her shoulder and crashing to the floor. Spinning round, she hit the assistant standing next to her, knocking him unconscious before grabbing the other assistant by her neck.

'Please,' she begged, 'don't hurt me. I'll do anything you want.'

Stacey brought the assistant close and looked her in the eyes. 'Help me escape from this place, then I'll let you go.'

'Escape,' the assistant said softly. 'No one has ever escaped from here.'

Holding her neck even tighter, Stacey hissed, 'Get me out of here, or you're going to die.'

The assistant started panicking. 'Okay, please, let me go and I'll show you how you can get out of here.'

After releasing her, the assistant made her way to the unconscious Doctor Young and started going through her pockets until she found what she was looking for.

'Here,' the assistant said as she handed a security card to Stacey. 'This is Doctor Young's pass card, it allows free access in and out of the building. Here take it.'

Stacey grabbed the card from the woman and hid it inside her gown, which had become ripped in the tussle. Quickly, she made her way towards the lab's door. As she was about to leave, she heard the assistant calling out.

'You aren't thinking of leaving dressed as you, are you?'

Stacey turned and walked slowly towards her, one of her green hands now in a fist. 'What are you suggesting?' she asked harshly, as the assistant backed away from her.

'Why don't you take Doctor Young's uniform?'

'Thank you, that sounds like a good idea,' Stacey grinned, as she hit the assistant, knocking her out.

Making her way to the recumbent doctor, Stacey began undressing her. Once she was dressed in the doctor's goggles, lab coat, latex gloves, hairnet, and surgeon's mask, she left the lab. Stepping through the doorway, she began thinking about Ben.

'I can come back for him later, first things first, I've got to get myself out of here.' She muttered to herself.

Exiting the lab, she noticed that the corridor she found herself in was clear and at the other end stood the exit door. As she began to run, she noticed that she had increased speed, and it only took her seconds to reach the exit. From her pocket, she pulled out the security card, inserting it into the lock. The door swung open, and she was free. Stepping outside, the air hit her. Immediately, she began to run straight for a wooded area just outside the medical centre. As she ran, she threw the lab coat off, leaving it lying in a puddle of water. Not watching what she was doing or where she was going, Stacey tripped and ended up flying. When she came to after her fall, her leg was bleeding. Glancing around the area she also noticed that she was by a stream.

Looking at her leg she noticed that her blood was dark green, not red, and for some strange, unknown reason the large cut was healing. Not only had she developed super strength, and an increase in speed, she apparently had super healing power. Once her leg was completely healed, she made her way towards the stream. Seeing her reflection in the water, she realised she wasn't a monster. No, now she was extremely attractive, with light green skin, dark green lips and eyes, and long, blonde hair. Standing, she admired herself.

'From this day forward,' she said aloud, 'I'm no longer Stacey Roberts,

I'm The Green Girl.'
