Late that afternoon, Ben and Stacey got ready to go into the lab, both wearing a blue and white gown and had their glasses off. 'Whatever happens in there, know that you'll always be the same person in my eyes, babe,' Ben said as he held her hand.
Leaning over and kissing Ben gently on his lips, a voice rang out, 'Stacey, Doctor Young is ready for you now.'
'Okay, I'm coming now,' she called back to the assistant.
'Best not to keep the doctor waiting, babe.'
Stacey threw her arms around him, giving him a quick hug before rushing outside where the assistant was waiting to take her through to the lab where Doctor Young was waiting for her.
In her hand was a vial of green liquid. Stacey looked at it in wonder. 'Welcome, Stacey, are you ready?'
'Yes, I am, Doctor,' she said warmly.
'Good. Please take a seat.' she said, pointing to a chair.
As Stacey sat down on it, she suddenly found herself fastened to the chair as clamps secured her arms. Doctor Young stepped towards her, wearing a surgeon's mask and goggles, in her hand was a syringe full of the green liquid Stacey had seen earlier in the vial. Gently, Doctor Young injected the needle into Stacey's arm, until every last drop of liquid was used. For a moment, nothing really happened, then Stacey began to feel strange and closed her eyes. Doctor Young moved back as she noticed Stacey growing in height, her blonde hair becoming longer, and her skin colour changing from pale white to a light green. Stacey's eyes flicked open to find Doctor Young standing in the far corner of the room.
'Doctor,' she said, her voice sounding strange. 'What happened? Was the procedure a success?'
Doctor Young came forward as the arm clamps released themselves, 'I don't know how to say this, Stacey, but you're completely… changed.'
Stacey began to laugh. 'Changed? What do you mean changed?'
'Take a look for yourself, miss,' one of the assistant's said as he handed her a mirror.
Stacey took a good look at herself and then dropped it in shock. 'What the hell has happened to me? What have you done?' she demanded, alarmed by what she saw.
Doctor Young came up to her, placing her hand on her arm. 'Don't worry, Stacey,' she said soothingly. 'This is just a side effect. I'm sure it will wear off after a few days.'
Stacey looked at her in disgust. 'I'm just an experiment to you, aren't I?'
The doctor started laughing. 'Yes, you are. Now that we have carried out these experiments, we wanted to test the serum on soldiers. but the military wouldn't allow us to do that, so we had to use civilians like yourself as lab rats. The serum that has been used on you has proven to be a success, and now you, Ben, and the rest of the volunteers will be used by the military in their super soldier programme.' Stacey didn't like the sound of it and began to look for an escape. 'You really shouldn't think about escaping now, my dear, you
now belong to us.'
