I manage to survive through the next five warm-up tortures because there's no way in hell that's a normal exercise. Each of them feels like a test of my sheer willpower, pushing my body to its limits.
My throat burns with thirst, yet the thought of asking Kaleb for water is unbearable; I'd rather collapse than show that vulnerability. Glancing around, it seems I'm the only one teetering on the edge of fainting.
Captain Derek claps his hands, signaling the end of the warm-up.
"Excellent work, champs! Welcome to your first battle training, Miss Kendrick. Most humans don't fancy being here. They find it stupid to fight alongside werewolves, but I'm glad you made that big step. I'm glad there's someone out there who also thinks there shouldn't be much difference between supernaturals and humans. Thank you, Hope."
