"Is this true Kai!" Lucario's angered voice thundered.
Everyone's eyes were on Kai, waiting for an explanation.While some gloated about the situation,if it were to turn bad than it already is, they might have a chance to kick him out of the very much coveted head of the Caderro clan for maybe them or their children to take over. Kai sat calmly in his chair,centered at the head of the table.Even in family meetings like this, little emphasis were put here and there to distinguish him from the others as the head of the Caderro clan and the dragons organization.He loved the power it gave him, that was how he put these farm pests where they belong.His gaze swept across the conference room scrutinizing everyone's faces.
A smirk settled on his face, leaving everyone momentarily stunned. "He really does have a penchant for being calm in the most deathly situations but let's see how he can get out of this!" Kody whispered to Angelo.The whisper flew into Kai's earshot and he gave them a smug look as if sending the words "try, but you can't beat me!"
Lucario was livid at his son.He was frolicking around with someone who is considered the clans enemy and a war was knocking at their doorstep because of his son's actions.
"Yes.It is true" Kai admitted, "Are you crazy! Look what you've got us into! Are you aware the Costa nostra wants to go to war on this!" Ben his uncle said.
"Thank you for your concern uncle,but this cannot be compared to when your son Kody here..." Kai nudged his chin towards Kody who was sitting beside Ben and continued.
"Was accused and sent to court on multiple rape charges.Am I wrong Kody?" Kai's smirked widened at the dark sunken face Kody wore.That incident and crime of his was a huge flaw and stain to his reputation.It cost him the position of the leader that Kai currently was.The reminder of that memory and the loss he suffered because of it all left a bitter taste on Kody's tongue but he dared not talk back nor disrespect Kai either when they were alone or in public such as this meeting.To say he suffered a huge blowback at the hands of his own clan than at the court is an understatement!
He had broken a major rule,one that the foundation of the dragons was built upon.A law that made them a bit different from other gangs.Committing senseless crimes like rape and assault of a woman or child.
He did it countless times,many of which he couldn't even remember.And very unfortunately for him some of his victims had connections with gangs.More than a handful of them.Though the gangs were low-tiers compared to the dragons and other mafia beneath them,it brought a tough war.It was a fire that took years and a huge financial settling from the Cadderos to quench.
Kody's rank in the family could now be identical to that of a mere soldato.
"That wasn't as serious as this!" Ben argued,he himself knew the dynamics between his son's crime and Kai's involvement with an enemy.He thinks if he keeps pushing,he might succeed in pushing Kai away and replace him with Angelo.He had faith and confidence that his son would be able to surpass Kai if given the seat.
"What could be more serious than that incident? At least now it's only Dimitri and I will be able to handle him." Kai's point should have gone without saying but they wouldn't miss a chance to get to berate Kai now, would they?
"Him sleeping around with a girl from the Mannox clan should count as treason right?" Ben said looking left and right.Expecting someone to consolidate his claim.None did.
Kai's aunt Bianca would have very much seized this opportunity if her son had not pass away two years ago from brain cancer leaving only her twin daughters.
Bianca,Ben and Lucario were the legitimate children of Klaus Caddero.Their father had other illegitimate children but they weren't included in meetings like this and not often thought as part of the family.
Ben had one son,Kai and Lucario has two,Kody and Angelo.
Klaus,the revered patriarch of the Caderro clan choose Ben to succeed him instead of Lucario who is the eldest son.
The power was most likely to return to his side when Ben passes.
Who knew Ben would be conniving enough to step down early and give his seat to his son Kai? As much as they hated him,they could not dismiss the clear fact that Kai was a strong leader.The clan flourished excessively under his leadership even going as far as to own quite a few legal establishments.The same cannot be predicted to happen if one of Lucario's sons were to take over.
"Correct this yourself son.Send that girl back to Dimitri!" Ben sternly said.Kai raised up his head and looked at his father with a bored expression on his face.His irritation grew every passing minute his handsome face could not conceal it any longer. "I will handle it.And if that's all,I am leaving" he stood up as soon as he said that when his father said something that made him stop dead in his tracks.
