Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Deal Closed

It's been a few days since the full moon and since I discovered that Blake is really the fire bearer. Blake has been elusive to me, he's avoiding me.

I did not try to talk to him or nag. I want to give him time to process his thoughts and emotions. I do not want to stress him or add too much confusion on his head.

Yesterday was the demonstration of the water purification activity. Blake and I just casually presented our activity to class, and acted like nothing happened. I let him act like that… for now.

He, of course, definitely needed that space.

I know one of these days, he will be the one who will come to me to ask questions. I can wait for it until he's ready to accept the life waiting for him.

I am also waiting for the Deceptor to contact me about the deal, if he will. Or, will he not talk to me? I don't know. Maybe not?

"May kukunin lang ako saglit sa locker," said Rizzy.

"Sama ako," I insisted. I'll get something in my locker too, my notebook. We still have more than 10 minutes before the next class starts.

Rizzy and I are the only ones who go to the locker since the other girls didn't have anything to get here. Also, we are only quick as the class would start in a few minutes.

I opened my locker and I saw a note. Another note. This is from the Deceptor, I guess. I opened it, "Bluewoods. 12 am. - D"

I woke up at 11:00 in the evening. I took a nap after doing some school work because of brain exhaustion.

I was done with this in the Aetheria. I love studying but not this one, I prefer to learn about my powers.

It was already 11:50 when I prepared myself and thought about going into the Redwoods already. Thankfully, I marked up the water there when I talked to the Deceptor. So, it will be easy to go there.

"The waters whisper, secrets they hold, I listen, may truth unfolds."

This place is really creepy, nothing changed the first time I came here—my consciousness, I mean. There are so many broken aquariums, garbage is everywhere, and the only light source are the few cracks in the walls.

"Did you miss me?" I heard his voice but I couldn't see him. I looked around, where is he?

"Where are you?" I asked him through water.

"Hmm… you know, I am not that dumb to show myself to you when you are not showing yourself either." His voice is echoing through the place, so I cannot decipher where his voice is coming from.

I answered him in a flat and emotionless tone. "You never show yourself to me, remember? Black face guy?"

I heard him laughing loudly. "Well… I am sorry for that but I cannot disclose my face. I might need it soon. I might need it to deceive you, little Beta."

Ohh… those dirty tactics.

"What can I expect from an Abyssal Order who fight in a dirty and unfair way?" I made sure to emphasize the few last words.

"I will just shrug it off but yeah, you cannot see me. So, I will say that my answer is a shrug," he said in such a casual tone like he was just saying some normal stuff. Is he joking? What a weird Aetherian he is.

To get back at him, I mocked his voice and said, "I just furrowed my eyebrows but you cannot see me. So, I will just say that I furrowed my eyebrows."

Sometimes, I can get the attitude of Aerona. It's no wonder we are always together in the past few years.

I heard him laugh again. I am right, he is crazy. "I didn't know that you have such humor… So funny," he said between laughs but he continued it with a deep low voice, that voice feels so powerful. I can sense the intimidation on it. "If it's up to me, I'd kill you right now."

When I heard it, I knew that I hit him hard. I secretly smirked. He cannot intimidate me, did he forget that we are on the same level? With confidence, I said, "Do it."

The place became so quiet, you can only hear the creepy echoing sound of the wind. No one bothered to talk, as if we were fighting with our aura and intimidation. If I were a normal Aetherian, I would think that he would use it as an opportunity to attack me but I know he would not.

After a few minutes, I finally heard him talk again but this time, I can sense that he already calmed down. "How arrogant, little Beta. Too bad, I am not here to kill you but you can wait for it, we will eventually go there." His voice goes back to when we first met, his calm and gentle voice.

"We will see… anyway, sure, it's better not to show ourselves to each other and get this over with. I know who is the fire bearer now." He definitely knew it, I knew that he was watching me. I am sure he was observing every inch and bit of my actions and obviously my life here.

"Well, that's good!" He sounded so excited and happy. "Now, you might want to get this sacred water of yours in my body."

I summoned back the water I put on him. "There, I removed it."

I heard a heavy sign as if he got unchained to something and felt relief of being free. "Thank you."

I give him my sweetest smile that I can give to someone like him. A bitter sweet smile.

Silence began until his voice became so serious yet so calm, it sounded so dangerous and made my skin crawl. "Leave this world, Ms. Water Bearer. You cannot touch Obsidius."

"I have dignity," I emphasized. "Don't do anything to the fire bearer too."

"Then, it's settled. Let's not get in each other's way."

"Sure. Let's close this deal."

I heard him chuckling, "See you in Aetheria."
