Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Chaos

It's been a few days since I came back from the sacred garden. Blake's still avoiding me. We acted casual in classroom and group activities to avoid suspicious and nonsense issues created by this mortal human.

I tried to reach out to him, I tried to talk to him but he avoided me, so I gave him more space. I do not want to push myself to him nor push the idea that he wasn't a mortal human. I want him to accept it by himself. I want him to fully accept with his heart. But, would that even happen?

In those days, I focused on using aquatic healing to cleanse the dark energy surrounding the mortal humans. The dark energy became lighter, this can be cleansed and taken over by the Equilibrium when I go back to Aetheria.

The Deceptor hasn't contacted nor messed with me. I never tried to find the Obsidius, I gave up finding that person for the sake of Blake. I cannot take a risk, I do not know how many Erebosian there are. Blake's safety should be my top priority.

We are in the classroom, it's break time but we decided to stay here because it was so hot outside. We were not hungry, so we stayed.

"You know, naisip ko lang… dapat they allow orders and deliveries here na makapasok sa campus para we weren't tired walking back and forth sa mga food stall, diba?" Thala annoyedly complained.

The things I learned about mortals are they tend to complain a lot and make false and nonsense stories. What nice beings.

"Edi walang kikitain ang cafeteria natin kung papayagan nila yan," Rizzy explained with her on point.

"Also, that is so dangerous. What if it is not food?" added Celestia.

"Argh… ano ba pwede 'yon? An illegal substance? A dangerous thing? They can just tingin in the food?"

"Eww, Thala. Will you allow someone to touch your food to examine if it was food?" Freya boldly asked, rolling her eyes and looking disgusted.

"Well… there should be another paraan to check kung–" Thala was interrupted by commotion outside. Students were screaming.

"What's happening?" Celestia rushed outside to check, and asked a student who was rushing, she looked frightened.

"There's a fire in the field."

Fire? Without thinking, I ran faster than the horse.

Arriving at the field, a huge fire comes into view. Half of the field was burned, trees were flamed. Students were rushing, some were watching, and few were recording with their cell phones.

Come on, humans. How about some help?

Think, Aella. I cannot use my water to extinguish the fire.

I roamed my eyes around to look for Blake. I saw him having a pale face. Some students and teachers were instructing students to leave the vicinity. It is a total chaos.

A wailing sound that gets louder and higher started to echo throughout the place. A fire truck arrived.

Do they witness Blake manifest it? I take out the crystal ball that Alpha gave me, and let it do its work. I saw it lit up and I let it, I have another work to do. No time to be amazed about Alpha's arcane.

Where's Blake? Minutes passed, I saw him running towards the exit. I immediately followed the path, and grabbed him without any words and took him to the corner. I checked the vicinity if there were any students around.

He looked so pale as if his blood left in his body. He is trembling too much.

I held his cheeks and whispered, "Blake…." He was staring blankly as if completely looking at a void space. "Blake…"

"Blake!" I tried to raise my voice, gently shaking him.

"Am-Amore?" he stuttered, still trembling. He looked around with furrowed brows.

"It's my… it's my fault…. the… the fire is my fault," he murmured between gasps while shaking his head.

Blake reminds me of Valen, they share the same characteristics—always composed and calm. This situation reminds me how Valen breaks down when he learns the truth.

"It's not your fault," I assured him while patting his arms. I keep repeating those words.

Minutes after, his body cooled down. "Right, it's not my fault," he seriously whispered.

"Yes, it is not your fault."

He keeps on nodding. My eyes widened when he pushed me. He glared at me intensely while his jaw muscles clenched. "This is your fault," he emphasized.

"Blake… let me explain everything. Listen to me."

Without any response, his intense eyes remained glaring at me. I sighed, he is filled with emotions. This isn't the time. Nothing would go through his mind.

"I can wait, Blake. I'll be here." I looked at him with my hopeful eyes.

"Is this a curse?" he asked me in a low tone of voice.

What does he mean by a curse? I saw our powers as a blessing but maybe for someone like him, it can be seen as a curse. He grew up as a mortal human, and knowing that he has superpower can be unbelievable.

"Only you can tell if it is a curse or a blessing," I answered gently.

"My mom died because of a fire."

That stunned me. His mother died because of a fire?

"There is no concrete explanation how the fire started but there are many speculations," he sadly explained. His eyes filled with longing and sadness.

I remained quiet, listening to his story. His voice changed to angry. "But now, I know this supernatural thing. I can tell that the fire started because of this stupid and cursed power," he intensely emphasized the last few words.

"Blake… I am sorry."

"Apologizing will not bring my mother back and my normal life."

I instantly pressed my lips together, I looked down. He's right, apologizing will not bring anything back.

He turned around, "Later at your house." After saying those words, he left me here.

I do not know if I should be happy that he might be open to any possibility of accepting the fire stone he had. Based on his story, he is definitely angry at his power as that can be the one who killed his mother.

He saw his power as a curse. He saw the fire stone as a cursed thing.

But, I hope, maybe… just maybe, Blake will not totally hate the fire stone.
