Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Trap

"I call upon the healing of the waters, to mend what is broken, and restore what is lost."

I am in the campus oval, acting like I am looking for something even though I am doing an aquatic healing. No one noticed anything uncommon in my actions. Well, I trained for this.

A girl with sunglasses dropped the book she was holding, she was surrounded by a low density dark energy.

"Thank you," she said after I helped her pick up her books.

I smiled at her, watching her walk again without any dark energy surrounding her. I successfully healed her aura.

I felt genuinely happy yet sad at the same time. Happy because I healed her with my powers. But, sad because a power from our world can do so devilishly to them. It is too cruel to have an unwelcome energy in the aura that can cause their death. A death that they don't know the reason for. A death they didn't deserve. That's too wicked.

20 minutes had passed, I kept on doing aquatic healing to low density dark energy. Exhausting, yes, but I needed and wanted to save them. Most are successful yet the few of them are not. I actually wondered why, but I didn't let it discourage me. I still need to save a lot of people.

"SERAAAA, GOOD MORNING!"

I flinched upon hearing that loud voice early this morning. How energetic.

I turned to the direction where I heard that loud voice. Thala was running towards me with a huge smile. She's like a walking color in her outfits, all pink.

She had an above average but not that high density of dark energy. Maybe, touching her would do the work.

I simply hold on to her arm. "Good morning, Thala," I softly said. In my mind, I recited the enchant, "I call upon the healing of the waters, to mend what is broken, and restore what is lost."

I saw how the dark energy faded in her aura. A slight curve formed in my lips. Now, no dark energy can linger to her.

However, after a few minutes, I suddenly felt weak as if something was sucking my energy. I felt nothing but weakness in my knees.

"Sera!" I faintly heard Thala's voice, panicking. My head is spinning, my eyes are blurry. "Sera? Sera? Help! Sera? Are you okay?!"

Everything felt disturbed, it felt distorted. Yet, clear as the sky, I heard someone say, "Illusionary Trap."

I know that chant. Deceptor. He got me, big time.

My energy cannot fight back. I felt so weak. After a few more seconds, I finally got into a deep slumber.

White walls and bright lights came into my view as I woke up, still feeling dizzy. My head hurts. I heard some faint voices.

What happened? I recalled the events, I used aquatic healing to Thala then I heard someone and I felt weak and soon passed out.

Deceptor.

I tried to get up and to sit down but everything was still blurry. And, my mind is aching too much.

"Sera, finally! Does anything hurt?" I looked at the one who owned that voice. It was blurred. But, I think it was Celestia's voice.

"Omg! Sera, are you okay na ba? Is there any masakit ba sayo? Do you want tubig?" My head flinched more upon hearing those many questions.

"Jeez, Thala! Calm down, will you?" That should be Freya with her mean voice.

"I'm just nagaalala lang naman!" Thala answered back.

I tried to close my eyes because of the pain in my head. "I'm okay, girls! Don't worry, where are we?"

"Nasa hospital tayo. Nawalan ka ng malay sa hallway buti kasama mo si Thala," Rizzy worriedly said.

My gaze finally turned back to normal, not blurry anymore. They are surrounding me with worried eyes. I still felt weak yet I slowly said, "I'm sorry! Nagalala pa tuloy kayo, okay na ako. Thank you."

"Do you want anything?" Hanna asked.

I tried to smile. "Nothing, thank you. Anong oras na? Baka malate tayo sa class."

"Girl, walang pasok ngayon. Linggo," Rizzy said, which made me widen my eyes.

How many days have I been asleep? It is Friday when I lose consciousness. Now, it's Friday?

"Lagpas two days ka na sleeping diyan."

"We called your mother but unfortunately she is out of the country." Hanna rolled her eyes.

Ms. Gale. I ordered her to find out who's the traitor, so she's really out of the country.

"Nagugutom ka ba? Dalawang araw ka na din hindi kumakain."

Upon hearing that, my stomach groaned in hungrieness. They looked at me with their narrowed eyes. I forcefully smiled.

"The doctor said okay ka na daw, we're just waiting na magising ka," Thala said while caressing my hair. She whispered, "So, maybe a vegetable salad pwede mo kainin. Hindi masarap ang food sa mga hospital here." That whisper is definitely not a whisper because her voice can still be heard throughout the room. Maybe in her personality that is already a whisper.

I slightly giggled. I don't know if that was a fact. I have never been to the hospital nor even tasted their food here. Thala's tone just made it like a satire statement.

"Thala, baka may makarinig sayo," Rizzy scolded her, giving her a look that made her pouted.

"What? It's true naman!" Thala rolled her eyes.

"I'll buy you a vegetable salad," Freya volunteered.

"Is that okay? Thank you!" I gave her my sweetest smile.

After Freya leaves, I ask them what happened after I lost my consciousness.

Thala sighed hard before her long explanation. "I called for help when I saw you nahimatay and I can't gising you. Dinala ka namin sa clinic kasi baka pagod lang and the nurse cannot figure out kung ano nangyari sayo kasi you are not sick naman daw... normal temperature," she said, shrugging her shoulder. "To further the assessment sayo, dinala ka namin here. Then, the doctor cannot also comprehend yung nangyayari sayo," she added, rolling her eyes. Then, she continued, "Kaya they put you in ICU for further observation. After a day, the doctors said na bigla daw naging normal ang vital signs mo. So, we just wait na magising ka then… here you are… wide awake and... hungry."

I nodded. "Thank you. Wala bang ibang nangyari aside diyan?"

All of them just shrugged their shoulders.

I felt that my energy was coming back so I decided to get up and go to the bathroom. As I looked in the mirror, I noticed something was missing. I touched my neck, trying to search for my necklace. It wasn't there.

I hastily got out of the bathroom, looking flabbergasted. They looked at me with furrowed brow. "Have you seen my necklace? Did they remove it?"

Rizzy pointed out the drawer beside the hospital bed. "We put it in there."

Without replying back, without thinking that I should be careful with my actions given that I probably still need to rest my body, I ran fast to the drawer.

"Sera, be careful," Celestia gently warned me.

My heartbeat fast, sweat started to build up in my forehead. In a low voice, I stated, "My necklace wasn't here."

They looked at each other with wonder eyes. They took a peek at the opened drawer. It was empty.

"I swear nilagay namin 'yon there."

They tried to find it in other drawers, even underneath the tables and bed. They tried to find it everywhere. Yet no traces of my necklace had been found.

I tried to calm myself down. Do breathe in and breathe out. Yet, my heart really beat so fast. I cannot lose it. That is my protection against the Erebos.

Deceptor may know me but their mens will definitely find and disturb me. They are brainless and stupid unlike the power holder in that cursed continent. I bite my lower lips.

"Sera, wala talaga. I am so sorry! We swear nilagay lang namin yun dito," Thala said, she's teary eyed.

"I will talk to the hospital admin. Let's see if we can see their CCTV footage," Hanna said, hurriedly storming out of the room. Celestia followed her.

"Sorry talaga, Sera! Dapat talaga nilagay ko na lang yun sa bag ko para mas safe," Rizzy said, she is also teary eyed.

I approached them and smiled genuinely. "Don't worry about it, it's not your fault. We will find it."

Hopefully.

If it was stolen. Who would steal that? I learned that stealing is really common in this country but those are done in the streets and unattended. Why would they steal a simple necklace in this hospital room?

One name came into my mind. Someone who would definitely have a reason to steal that simple necklace. Deceptor.

It makes sense. If that necklace was not in my possession. His underlings can sense me. That would make my life a living hell here. They would surround me like a hungry beast waiting to devour their prey. And, that would be a hindrance.

But, how did he know about the necklace? Probably the traitor again.

"Sera, nag text si Freya. Need daw niya help sa food kasi bumili na din siya para samin. Wala daw delivery yung store eh. Okay ka lang ba here? Mabilis lang kami, promise!"

"Of course, I am okay. Be careful ha."

I was left alone in this room. Thinking deeply about what I should do next, what action I should take. This mission is getting more dangerous. Not for me but for mortal people who can be collateral damage when I clashed with the Erebosian. I should avoid that.

After a while, a black vulture landed in the window. I sense a high density dark energy to it. It was carrying a note in its beak.

"Hey! You are awake already, did you enjoy my trap? Haha. Anyway, finding your beloved necklace? Get it in the redwoods tomorrow at 12:00 am. - O <3"
