Fai's mind raced with possibilities as he carefully removed the pendant from his neck, he then held it in front of him and proceede to focused his mind , activating the skill.
[FAE EYES ]
Fai uttered as he activated the system skill.
[Silver armored pendant]
[Level ... ]
[The system is unable to rank the pendant ]
[description]
* [This pendant has the ability to fight and to accomplish tasks assigned to it by the user ]
* [For it to be activated the pendant must be touched by the blood of the user ]
* [The pendant can only have one user , the blood of who activated it ]
* [ If the pendant is destroyed it returns back to the owner in the form of a pendant ]
* [The pendant can also evolve]
Fai slowly read through the astonishing information the system provided about his pendant, and he was utterly speechless.
What he had always believed was merely a sentimental keepsake connecting him to his late family was, in fact, a powerful weapon that could have been used all this time! The realization hit him with the force of a physical blow.
A profound wave of gratitude washed over him that he had, protected the pendant all these years.
So many times, bullies had tried to snatch it from him, seeing it as just another worthless trinket to torment him with.
Yet, it was his reckless defiance that had made them eventually give up on taking it, choosing instead to simply increase his physical torture.
Luckily, his aggressors, blinded by their own cruelty, had never understood what it truly was either, viewing it as something worthless and finding more enjoyment in the act of bullying itself.
Fai read through the system message again, struggling to fully believe what he was seeing.
After rereading it multiple times, letting the instructions and the pendant's true purpose sink in, he quickly scanned his room, his gaze darting around, searching for anything sharp that could pierce his skin.
'If I don't do this now, and someone else stronger than me comes across it, they will certainly take it from me and be able to use it,' Fai thought, a surge of urgency propelling him. 'I had better be the one to activate it, just to be safe, before anyone else discovers its secret.'
Fai continued to scan his room, his eyes sharp, still searching for that necessary sharp instrument.
His gaze finally settled on the southern part of the room. There, he spotted a small, jagged piece of mirror, broken from a larger, shattered one that somehow still clung precariously to the wall.
Taking the mirror shard, he used its sharp edge to make a small cut on the tip of his index finger. A bit of his blood immediately welled up.
As soon as his blood touched the pendant, he heard a distinct "cling" sound reverberate inside his head, sharp and clear.
This was instantly followed by a new system message, glowing undeniable before him .
[ A connection has been established with the Silver pendant warrior, you can now assign tasks and missions to the warrior ]
[Will you like to see the warrior stats?]
[YES ] [NO ]
Instinctively, Fai chose the "YES" option, his heart pounding with eager anticipation.
Another screen immediately appeared before him, almost identical to his own status display, but this one shimmered with a striking silver color.
[Warrior stats]
[ATTRIBUTES]
* [STRENGTH: 5] (Physical power)
* [STAMINA: 5] (Sustain physical and mental effort)
* [SPEED: 5] (How fast body can move)
* [AGILITY: 5] (Speed, reflexes, evasion)
* [ENDURANCE: 5] (Resilience and pain tolerance)
* [PERCEPTION: 5] (Awareness, sensory)
* [INTELLIGENCE : 0] ( Reasoning capacities)
* [Evolution : 0/100 low tier beast core ]
* [For increase in stats blood different from that of the user is needed]
* [To activate the warrior, a minimum amounts of 25 Hp is needed]
Looking at the screen, Fai realized that much of the information was similar to his own stats. However, there were a few crucial differences.
For one, he had a dedicated "skill" tab for his abilities, but the warrior had no such tab. Instead, it had a section for "Intelligence," which was currently at a jarring zero.
This implied a warrior with raw power but no strategic mind of its own.
At least that was what Fai thought
More significantly, it was clearly stated that to increase the warrior's stats, Fai would need other people's blood.
'Does that mean I need to kill others to grow its strength?' Fai thought, a cold knot forming in his stomach. He immediately recoiled from the idea. 'No, I don't think so.
Maybe all I need is just a little bit of blood, like I did with mine. Still, it's not like they will willingly give me their blood if I asked politely,' he mused, picturing himself in a comical scenario, approaching strangers for blood donations.
The image was absurd, yet it highlighted the immediate dilemma.
'Or could it work that way?' he wondered, a tiny seed of possibility lingered . 'Anyway, let's keep that thought aside for now.'
Fai then moved on to the next critical piece of information on the warrior system, something he hadn't fully processed during his initial quick glance. It was the "Evolution" tab of the warrior system.
The tab boldly stated that for the warrior to evolve to its next stage, it needed "100 low tier beast crystals." This immediately triggered memories of the world's changed history.
Fifty years ago, when terrifying creatures from the underworld had attacked humans, humanity had made a startling discovery .
within these monstrous beasts, something known as crystal ores could be found. These cores, with the brilliant assistance of the Great Scientist Lady Fagomor an old scientist renowned for her immense wisdom had allowed humans to produce many incredible things.
Who knows maybe It was even with the use of these very cores that human DNA had been successfully mutated, leading to the creation of mutated humans.
However, to obtain a beast crystal, one had to venture into areas of Earth that had not been completely cleared of these dangerous creatures.
And even then, it would require immense strength to even take down these beasts.
Even the weakest of these monstrous beings was stronger than the strongest normal humans. Only mutated humans truly stood a chance against them, and even they had to be powerful in their own right?.
Another way one could acquire these beast cores was through portals.
With Lady Fagomor's continued guidance, the humans were also able to provoke the creation of these mystical gateways.
They would then brave these portals, venturing inside to kill and conquer territories, explore unknown lands, and bring back cores along with other important materials, like lost artifacts and more.
So, Fai, being as weak as he currently was, wouldn't even be able to gather the necessary resources to make the warrior evolve, at least not for the moment.
The path to upgrading his new protector seemed impossibly distant, a reminder of his current limitation.
The very last piece of information on the screen was what truly made Fai feel a crushing wave of disappointment in his own current weakness.
'I'm not even going to know if it works or not,' Fai muttered to himself, his voice laced with profound frustration.
He had been so intensely looking forward to testing the pendant, to understand how it functioned and how truly useful it could be.
He had even secretly hoped it could help him in the assessment tomorrow if the worst came to be.
But now, the reality hit him: he couldn't even activate it. The requirement of a minimum of 25 HP meant his own paltry 20 HP wasn't enough to bring the warrior to life.
He possessed a powerful key, but lacked the fundamental energy to turn the lock.
Placing the pendant back around his neck, Fai sighed, a heavy weight settling in his chest. He decided it was best to rest for the night. The assessment day was tomorrow, and who knew how truly difficult it would be.
Switching off the single light, Fai went to bed, a complex mix of anxiety swirling within him, hoping for the best outcome tomorrow.
