Chapter 58 - Awakening, Freezing Beam

The incandescent lights illuminated the Underground Base.

The bright lights shone on two figures, their shadows stretched and distorted by the cold walls.

Feeling the seriousness in Lex's words, Gino was silent for a moment, then took a deep breath and said, "I'm sure, Lex."

Some things always need to be done, some ideas always need to be verified.

The system wouldn't tell him which of Bizarro's talents he had copied, and Gino needed to figure these out himself.

And in this process, taking risks was unavoidable.

As long as his attempts and efforts were meaningful, Gino didn't mind suffering.

"Alright, it's your choice."

Lex didn't try to persuade him further. He knew Gino's personality and agreed with his decision.

Lex turned and walked towards another safe.

He crouched down and entered Gino's birthday.

"Beep~"

The safe opened, revealing a row of dazzling and brilliant green Kryptonite.

Lex, wearing gloves, gently picked up a smaller piece of Kryptonite. He stared at the mysterious stone, took a deep breath, and stood up, walking towards Gino.

Fifty meters, forty meters.

When the distance between them closed to ten meters, Lex stared into Gino's eyes, his voice low. "Tell me immediately if you feel any pain."

"I know," Gino replied, staring at the green Kryptonite.

Lex took a step forward.

The green stone got closer and closer to Gino.

Seven meters, six meters!

Even as the Kryptonite in his view grew larger, Gino didn't feel that sense of weakness.

"It worked!" A flash of understanding went through Gino's eyes, giving him a deeper understanding of the system's function.

"Copying Bizarro's talent successfully freed me from Kryptonite's limitations."

Gino's eyes flickered, and he even felt an indescribable fondness for the green Kryptonite.

"Give it to me. I think I've overcome those annoying stones," Gino said with a smile to Lex, showing he wasn't affected.

Seeing Gino was alright, Lex also breathed a sigh of relief. He wiped the slight sweat from his forehead with his hand and tossed the Kryptonite over, saying, "Here."

"Snap!"

Gino gently grasped the Kryptonite with his hand. The moment the cold stone touched his palm, a warm sensation arose.

"This feeling... it's warm," Gino closed his eyes, feeling the changes the Kryptonite brought.

It was like a traveler who had walked all day throwing themselves into a warm bathtub, or like warming up by a bonfire in the cold night.

Every cell in his body was cheering and jumping for joy. What he had previously avoided was now easily held in Gino's hand.

"Hoo, hoo."

Gino was enjoying the warmth of the Kryptonite, while Lex observed the changes in Gino.

The veins in the arm holding the Kryptonite bulged, and countless tiny blood vessels, influenced by the Kryptonite, turned a deep, dark green.

They spread densely, extending to Gino's left temple.

Immediately, Gino felt an itch in his Left Eye, as if something was brewing and gathering in his eye.

"Pop!"

Gino covered his Left Eye, and a slight prickling sensation caused Gino to close his eyes.

"What's wrong? Gino." Lex looked at Gino's reaction with some concern.

"No, just a little uncomfortable."

Gino couldn't describe his current state. His Left Eye felt sore and prickly, and large tears streamed down his eyelids. But the next instant, wisps of mist filled his eye sockets, easily freezing the tears on his face, as if adorning Gino's face with Ice Tear Moles.

The feeling grew stronger. Gino moved his arm away and struggled to raise his eyelids. He opened his eyes, and his originally dark blue eyes instantly filled with cold mist.

The cold mist made his Left Eye even more radiant and dazzling, like a clear, blue sea, containing an unfathomable ocean within.

The next instant, a thick, violent blue beam of light erupted from Gino's Left Eye.

Its brilliant blue light even outshone the lights of the entire Underground Base.

"Get out of the way, Lex!" Gino roared, instinctively turning his head to avoid his... well, brother-in-arms.

"Buzz!"

The energy contained within his Left Eye completely exploded. A dazzling blue beam of light shot out from his Left Eye, like a freezing ray of light, and soared into the air. It contained countless tiny ice flowers, and the sharp, cold light emitted a chilling mist, as if to freeze the air. The beam landed on a glass jar.

Boom!!

A swift, dazzling blue light emitted a piercing, high-frequency sound, like a furious blizzard whipping past one's ears.

The freezing beam instantly struck the glass jar.

"Crack, crack, crack…"

The extremely cold light, like a venomous snake, flicked its tongue and adhered to the iron jar. Moisture in the air condensed, turning into tiny ice fragments that rapidly covered the entire glass surface with a thick layer of frost.

As Gino's gaze lingered, the light continuously eroded the surface. The original frost gradually solidified and froze. In an instant, a giant ice sculpture, emitting wisps of cold air, rested quietly in the silent laboratory. The previously warm environment visibly cooled due to the presence of the ice sculpture.

Gino controlled the movement of his vision, and the ice energy contained within his eyes trailed a series of ice fragments along the path of his gaze.

"Hoo, hoo."

Gino was panting heavily, trying to dissipate the icy energy that had condensed in his Left Eye.

With a thought from Gino, the continuous beam of light quietly extinguished.

Gino covered his Left Eye, which was emitting a cold mist, and silently watched the scene before him.

The originally clean and tidy Underground Base seemed to have transformed into an ice and snow paradise. The experimental tanks, frozen into ice blocks, stood silently in place, but there was no doubt that their internal structures had already been destroyed and shattered by the extreme cold. They might shatter into pieces with just a gentle touch.

"This, it's unbelievable!" Lex stared at the scene before him in astonishment, his eyes filled with fervor. He turned to look at Gino, rubbing his hands, and said, "You have to cooperate with my experiments, Gino!"

The way Lex was looking at Gino now was like he was looking at a lab rat. Gino smiled helplessly, indicating that he would cooperate with Lex.

However, he was somewhat puzzled in his heart.

If he also replicated Bizarro's Freezing Beam, then why only one eye? Could it be...

Gino had a vague guess in his mind, but he couldn't be sure yet.

"Bizarro."

Bizarro, who looked like a zombie, called out somewhat aggrievedly, looking at Gino and Lex, and rubbing his stomach.

"Bizarro."

Gino glanced at Bizarro's ugly face, patted Lex on the shoulder, and said, "What do you plan to do?"

Lex also regained his senses from his frenzy, returning to the stern, domineering, bald CEO.

He stroked his chin, looking at Bizarro, and said, "Let's keep him in the lab for now. Later, I'll have the scientists under me teach him to learn a language, and then try to see if we can restore his normal appearance."

Hearing Lex's words, Gino nodded in approval.

Lex's arrangements were sound. Letting Bizarro run loose would only cause panic in the town. Many people would definitely think it was a zombie outbreak.
