"Beep, beep, beep!"
The piercing alarm echoed through the empty Experiment Base.
Red lights shone on the cold glass, adding a strange atmosphere to the base.
Under the glass jar, Lex could even hear his own heavy breathing.
"Hoo... hoo..."
Why was he nervous?
Was it the fanaticism for science, or the proof of the possibility of creating a god?
Lex didn't know his own mental journey. He subconsciously turned his head.
His brother was looking up, quietly staring at the thing in the nutrient tank.
Gino's emotions seemed to affect Lex, as his own excited heartbeat gradually calmed down.
On the other side, Gino rubbed his neck, his eyes burning with fighting spirit.
He had probably guessed what Lex had created.
"b-zero," also known as Bizarro, existed as Superman's opposite.
Super speed, super endurance, flight – he possessed all the basic abilities that Superman did.
But, unlike Superman, his eyes shot out Ice Breath instead of Heat Vision, and he spewed scorching flames instead of Ice Breath.
In different versions, Bizarro's birth was often directly linked to Lex Luthor. He didn't expect that in this world, his cheap older brother had also created Bizarro.
However, none of that mattered. Although he was Superman's opposite, Bizarro was clearly not a match for the real Superman. What Gino valued most was one of his talents: the ability to enhance his strength through Green Kryptonite.
Gino lowered his head, gazing at the Golden Copy Card in his hand. He was determined to obtain Bizarro's talent.
Gino turned his head and quietly said to Lex, "My brother, let him out."
Lex looked deeply at Gino, bent down, and pressed the green button on the instrument, his voice barely audible, "I believe in you, brother."
As Lex's finger pressed the switch, "Bang!"
The glass container above shattered.
Scattered shards of glass mixed with liquid, spraying everywhere like a torrential downpour. Large droplets of water hit the cold floor, making a "crackling" sound.
The mixed water soaked the circuits, causing "hissing" sparks.
"Pop!"
The circuit tripped, and the entire Experiment Base was plunged into pitch-black darkness.
In the darkness where one couldn't see their own fingers,
"Can you see him?"
Lex clenched his fist and pulled a pistol from his pocket.
"Of course. He's lying on the floor." Gino's tone was calm, his eyes narrowed as he stared at the figure on the metal plate in the darkness.
His skin was pale and purplish, like a zombie from a movie. His original black hair seemed to have thinned, affected by Kryptonite, and he was only wearing a pair of briefs.
This tall guy was currently hugging himself, shivering like a clueless child.
"Wait a moment."
Gino narrowed his eyes slightly, looking at Bizarro, who was lying on the ground trembling with wide eyes.
The other party didn't show any aggression.
Instead, he was like a frightened child, hugging himself, his big eyes staring at Gino in terror.
"Ah, ah!"
Bizarro opened his cold, white, and cracked lips, as if burned by lime, and let out unintelligible whimpers.
Looking at the experiment's reaction, the young man sighed and tapped his head: "How could I forget, this guy isn't very smart."
If one were to ask what the main reason for Bizarro's overall strength being inferior to Superman's, it would definitely be his IQ, which was only around five or six years old.
Immaturity and a childish mind were the labels on Bizarro.
In other words, the guy trembling on the metal slab right now, the soul within his towering frame, was a little kid who still liked lollipops.
"What are we waiting for?"
In the darkness, Lex looked at Gino, puzzled. His brother was never one to hesitate. If Gino hadn't attacked the experiment, it meant the experiment wouldn't harm them.
"It's like this."
Gino glanced at his cheap older brother, a hint of pity in his eyes. He explained, "Your experiment might not be very intelligent." Lex frowned, straining to see the trembling figure in the darkness. "Not very intelligent? What do you mean?"
"Just what I said."
Gino started walking towards Bizarro.
Lex was alarmed: "Wait, Gino! Be careful of that monster!"
Gino ignored his brother's concern and slowly walked towards Bizarro.
His sneakers made a "tap-tap" sound on the metal floor, each step firm as he advanced towards Bizarro.
"Damn it."
Lex gritted his teeth, thought for a moment, and then turned and ran towards the circuit breaker. He decided to restore power to the Underground Base so he could better observe the situation.
On the other side, Bizarro's pure black eyes were filled with terror. He watched the figure approaching him, terrified. There was an indescribable aura emanating from the other person that made him instinctively want to flee.
"Wait." Gino accelerated, and in an instant, he was standing in front of Bizarro.
"Mmmph!"
Bizarro kicked his legs, his huge, pale body constantly moving backward until his back touched the cold wall.
He had nowhere to retreat.
Bizarro looked around anxiously, the guy was still approaching him.
"Ugh!"
Bizarro clenched his fists, he was going to fight back!
"Crack!"
Another string of sparks erupted, and the countless lights overhead flickered back to life, casting light into the darkness.
The sudden increase in brightness made Bizarro painfully cover his eyes.
Tears streamed down his face, and in the blinding white light, Bizarro saw the figure slowly extend an arm.
Bathed in the light behind him, the man seemed to have a halo.
Gino stood above, looking down into Bizarro's eyes, and said each word slowly, "From today on, your name is Bizarro."
"Bi… Bizarro?"
Bizarro tilted his head, mimicking Gino's pronunciation. The raspy sound that came from his mouth seemed to be a cause for celebration.
The initial fear was gone. Bizarro grabbed Gino's arm and shook it rapidly, a happy smile on his ugly face. He kept repeating Gino's words: "Bizarro, Bizarro."
The Golden Copy Card, which only Gino could see, was gently held between his fingertips. The moment Bizarro touched Gino's right hand, the Golden Copy Card slowly dispersed and disintegrated, turning into countless brilliant golden particles that scattered into Bizarro's chest.
[Contact with b-zero, obtain b-zero talent.]
As with the first time, Gino didn't feel a shock or a shudder. It was as smooth as breathing, and his body didn't change at all.
Neither did his eyes sting to awaken Ice Breath, nor did his throat itch to spew flames.
With a slight guess in mind, Gino forced a smile and shook off Bizarro's hand. He then held out his hand to the clumsy fellow, making a small person-walking gesture with two fingers towards the ground, signaling for Bizarro to follow him.
"Bizarro."
Bizarro obediently lowered his arms and shuffled along behind Gino like a lazy zombie.
"Gino?!"
Lex, who had hurriedly switched on the power, was worried about Gino's safety. He rushed over with a pistol in hand, only to see his own experimental subject following behind Gino like a well-behaved baby.
Then, Gino's next sentence left Lex somewhat bewildered.
"Lex, do you have any Kryptonite? Give me one."
"Wait, I need to remind you, that stuff does a lot of damage to you." Lex frowned, reminding Gino. As brothers, he naturally understood Gino's situation, which was also the reason Lex started his research. He wanted to help his brother solve the effects of Kryptonite.
