Chapter 49 - Ball Invitation

Talia returned to her room, the house on the shadowy side of the island giving it a gloomy feel.

Talia switched on the light, squinting slightly to adjust her eyes. The woman sat softly on the comfortable bed, her emerald eyes fixed on a tattered photograph on the wall.

The young man in the photo was handsome, with long golden hair and a white shirt, like an angel descended from heaven.

"Hmph."

Talia snorted and pulled a dart from her pocket.

With a whoosh, the dart's cold, sharp blade pierced the young man's crotch in the photo. It seemed this act made her feel a little better.

"Despicable thing." Talia gritted her teeth, unsure of her feelings—a mix of resentment and bewilderment.

"Ding-ding~"

Her phone chimed. Talia opened it, and seeing the contents, the woman frowned slightly before letting out a cold laugh.

"Recommending an assistant for me?" Talia scoffed, muttering to herself, "They clearly intend to send an informant to monitor me."

Talia recalled Jino's threat and ultimately, with humiliation, chose to agree, arranging a meeting place with Tina.

.........

The first ray of morning sunlight streamed into Luthor Manor. Jino, dressed in pajamas, stood in the bathroom, spitting out the foam from his mouth.

"Young Master." The Butler approached Jino, carrying a stack of invitations. "Your memo indicates that you'll be sending out invitations for a dance party to your classmates during this period."

"I have already prepared hundreds of invitations for you, scheduled for 10 PM tomorrow night."

"Ah, if you hadn't mentioned it, I would have forgotten, Butler."

Jino smiled, taking the invitations.

The gold-embellished invitations looked quite grand.

Jino glanced out the window.

On the lawn outside the manor, servants were busy moving tables and chairs.

"Tomorrow night is certainly going to be lively," Jino smiled.

He was beginning to look forward to the dance tomorrow night.

"Oh, right, Butler." Jino turned to his Butler. "Please prepare a plane ticket to London. Have Tina go to the coffee shop on 16th Street in London. Once she's there, have her call this number to contact her superior."

After his conversation with Talia last night, Jino had already arranged Tina's future trajectory.

"As you wish."

Vroom~

The engine roared, propelling the Bugatti sports car into the campus.

It was another day of school. Jino arrived neither too early nor too late; many students were already there.

"Good morning, Jino!" Chloe suddenly jumped out from behind Jino, lightly patting his shoulder.

"Am I supposed to act surprised?" Jino turned around, looking at the campus trio.

"I knew I couldn't scare you," Chloe sighed. The four walked side-by-side, chatting.

Chloe leaned in conspiratorially toward Jino, lowering her voice:

"Did you hear? A thief broke into Loren's Antique Shop last night, and they found Mrs. Loren's body in a cabinet!"

"Wow, was the culprit caught?" Jino's expression was calm, while Clark, standing nearby, kept staring at Jino, trying to read something on his friend's face.

Unfortunately, Clark didn't know that scions were born actors.

"The police suspect Loren's daughter killed her."

Jino shrugged, "That's truly unfortunate news."

"But I also have some good news."

Jino winked at the girl, then pulled a stack of golden invitations from his pocket.

These exquisitely crafted invitations looked quite beautiful in the morning sun.

"What's this?" Chloe's eyes widened. She quickly reached out, pulled one out, and opened it.

The girl looked at the text on the paper and read aloud: "Jino Luthor cordially invites you to a dance party at Luthor Manor on May 24th at 10:00 PM!"

When she reached the last sentence, Chloe's voice suddenly rose, "Oh my God, it's a dance invitation!"

Hearing Chloe's shriek, Little Pete and Clark's eyes both lit up.

In the eyes of hormonally charged teenagers, a dance meant an invitation to the girl they liked. Clark immediately thought of Lana Lang.

Clark imagined himself holding Lana Lang's hands, dancing gracefully on the spacious lawn of Luthor Manor.

Gulp.

Clark swallowed, immediately pushing aside the matter of Tina. Tina? Could Tina possibly be more important than Jino's dance?

Chloe's eyes darted around. She took a deep breath, steeling her courage, and looked at Jino: "So, do you have a dance partner?"

Chloe's big eyes were full of anticipation; she didn't know what answer she would get.

"A dance partner? No, I don't have one." Jino shook his head, glanced at Chloe, and chuckled, "Do you want to dance with me?"

He naturally understood Chloe's intentions, but Jino wasn't interested in a relationship right now.

Chloe nodded repeatedly. "Of course!"

Jino ruffled Chloe's short blonde hair. "I don't mind."

Meanwhile, Pete, who had been about to speak, hesitated, then finally asked, "But Jino, with so many invitations, who are you planning to give them to?"

"Honestly, I'm not planning to hand them out myself."

Jino waved the stack of invitations in his hand, seemingly casually looking at Clark. "Perhaps I'll need a few helpers to distribute these invitations for me."

There was a reason he was doing this. If he handed them out himself, a whole group of girls would undoubtedly swarm him, begging for a spot. Jino hated wasting time on such things, so he might as well let his friends have the spotlight.

Beautiful women? He'd been tired of seeing them since he was a child. For those at the top, beauty wasn't a rare commodity.

"Ahem, I'm willing to help!" Clark immediately raised his hand to volunteer, puffing out his chest to show how reliable he was.

And little Pete also raised his hand.

This was a great opportunity to show off.

"Why not?"

Jino divided the invitations into two stacks and handed them to the two, laying out some conditions. "First, absolutely no drug users are allowed into Luthor Manor, nor any bullies who like to torment others at school."

"And no outside alcohol or 'weed' is permitted."

American high school students liked to seek thrills, but Jino didn't want a group of "addicts" at his manor.

Clark and Pete nodded repeatedly. "Don't worry, Jino, we'll screen them strictly."

Jino smiled. "I'm not worried about Pete, but Clark tends to be easily influenced and doesn't have much of his own opinion."

As he spoke, Jino gently bumped Clark with his arm and whispered, "Perhaps you could also talk to Lana Lang about who should attend the dance?"

"Good idea!" Clark took a deep breath, clutching the golden invitation in his hand. Just as Jino said, this was a good opportunity for him to get closer to Lana Lang.
