Weeks has passed by and no words from Alexander yet. The House of Walton's wishes him the best in his quest, The Walton's are Mr. Wilson and his household.
It was raining that evening when the tavern's swinging doors opens. There was silence everywhere, like they all saw a ghost? They all kept silent, watching every move of this stranger as the stranger walked in... heading for the counter, where the bartender also stood waiting and watching as the stranger walked in slowly.
Taking off hood but still had the wet cloak on. "Please, can i get a mug of beer" said this stranger, tossing a coin on the counter. "No Lad that's two coins now" "Price has gone up since last summer" said the bartender to the stranger. "Alright...here is another coin for the beer" said the stranger placing the coin on the counter. "Do you have an empty room" "I need one for the night" said the stranger still having his face to the ground as he gazed at his boots. "There you go" said the bartender, handing over the mug of beer to his stranger. The stranger drank in thirst while the bartender watched him. "It's like you're not from around here" said the bartender as she wiped on-top of the counter with a little rag. "Who's asking?" said the stranger as the stranger held his mug mid-air. " We are" said a man who sat at the corner of the tavern.
The man stood up from his chair at his end.
The man walked straight to this stranger. "You shouldn't be here...who knows you could be a run away-criminal" said the man as he stood behind the stranger with an intention to start a fight. "...or maybe a bounty on his head" shouted another man from the corner. Then everyone laughed loudly about it. But the stranger just stood there, not even shaking or a word. The stranger gazed into his mug, holding firm onto the mug as he still gazed in.
"I said you are not wanted here" said the man behind the stranger as he grabs the stranger by the shoulder to reveal his identity. Now their both eyes met. The stranger looked at the man who grabbed him from behind with hate and angry in his eyes as the stranger starred at the man.
"Hey!" "Leave him alone, you tavern-bully!" said the bartender as she banged a beer wooden mug on the counter to create a distraction.
"Let him be you...freak" said the bartender as she forcefully pulled out the stranger away from harm.
Meanwhile when everything was calm and normal, the stranger sat opposite to the bartender as he drank again... "Where are you from?"said the bartender as she wipes the beer mugs with a small cloth.
"I'm not a criminal and i'm not here to cause any trouble if it's what you ask" "I'm just a traveler who needs rest and a place to sleep for the night" said the stranger. " Mm....I see" "Then at least tell me what's your name?" said the bartender as she looked at the stranger with a smile. "I am Alexander Patrick" "I'm a traveler..." "I need a room to sleep for the night, please" said Alexander. "Mm-mmm...you are in luck alright" "We have an empty room around the back...it's not much, if you would take it?" said the bartender opening her palm to receive payment from Alexander for the room.
Immediately a half dead man threw himself through the swinging doors of the tavern. Now he is on the floor holding tight to his neck. Alexander was the only one who rushed to help him, while everyone just sat or stood there watching them both. "What happened to you...Sir?" said Alexander as he tries to put more pressure onto his neck to stop his bleeding. "-The- Ser-pent of the For-Forest" said the bleeding man as he exhaled his last. The bleeding man's eyes rolled to the tavern's entrance, like he saw his killer just standing there to finish him off.
His eyes wide open as he died, looking straight at the entrance.
Alexander turned to see what the bleeding man was starring at but found no-one was there. Alexander gently closed his eyes with his fingers. Blood all over the floor.
"What going on here?!" "Why won't anyone just help him?" "What's wrong with you people?" said Alexander as he stood with the blood of the bleeding-man all over his cloak and into his garment.
Alexander took the body outside burying him at the backyard of this tavern. When the body was in the ground, Alexander placed his both palms on the sand where he buried that man four-feet underneath him.
Then it starts to rain, Alexander looks up to the sky, the rain pours onto his face while he closed his eyes. Then he cried out loud. You know the saying that goes like this, "No one can see your tears while in the rain" But Alexander cried out loud so you would know he was crying though.
Now Alexander was seated in the tavern gazing into his beer mug."Are you okay?" said the bartender as she walked in from the kitchen. "I don't know, it's like nothing seems so right around this place" " They all just watch him die" said Alexander as he banged his hand on the tavern counter in great anger. "I know you are mad right now about everything" "The man whom you just buried was cursed by a Serpent, a bite or a cut can bring you great HELL" "It is said anyone who touches the cursed one... they must come for them" whispered the bartender. " They?" "Who's they?" asked Alexander. "The three Serpent sisters" said a man who also sat a bit far from Alexander as he drank too.
The stood up to leave the tavern "Just be careful Boy...keep your eyes open" said the man as he chuckled and left.
