In the following days, Gilbert never looked for Cherry again. It was as if she had vanished from his world.
Just like before, after work, Cherry would go straight to her apartment to review. She would just spend her time studying and not think about anything else.
On Friday, Cherry came home late because she had been made to work overtime. It was nine o'clock at night, and she couldn't catch a bus home, so she was forced to take the bullet train.
When the train arrived, Cherry immediately got on, but a man wearing a black hat bumped into her. He quickly apologized, so Cherry just smiled in response and went straight to the empty seat.
Cherry didn't understand why, but as she sat down, she felt like someone was watching her from afar.
When she turned around, she saw nothing else suspicious.
Cherry ignored her feelings and pointed her gaze out the window of the moving train.
