Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Progeny of the Universal Tree

During the nascent state of the universe, as reality first began to form, the Dragon God embedded the Universal Tree into its very foundation. As the universe expanded, so too did the Tree, its roots intertwining with creation and its branches reaching across the stars.

From its branches grew ten fruits of opposing natures. From these fruits, the Dragon God created the Ten Tree Races.

Taking the Fruit of Beginnings and the Fruit of the End. The Dragon God then split the Fruit of Beginnings into four parts. From three, he created three distinct colored humanoid beings — the Beings of Beginning, the Elarien. He did the same with the Fruit of the End, splitting it into four, and from the three parts, formed three distinct colored humanoid Beings of End, the Syrithra. The final piece of each fruit — one of Beginning, one of End — was fused, forming a seventh being: a humanoid of both Beginning and End, the Kealion. These seven distinct colored beings are known as the 7 Primordial Eternals, or Chronaries. The 7 Chronaries took from their very essence and with the power of the cosmos, formed the Eternal Race. This race is the first race to be created from the Universal Tree. Their purpose is to observe the universe and carry out the Dragon God's will. They are the representation of the beginning and the end. They serve as envoys and guardians to the Dragon God's domain. They are few in numbers, compared to the other races, and are long-lived and almost immortal.

After shaping the Primordial Eternals, the Dragon God turned His gaze toward two more fruits: the Fruit of Life and Death, and the Fruit of Death and Life. He split the Fruit of Life and Death into seven parts. From each piece, a primordial human was born — seven in total, each radiating a distinct color, the Vitaria. These magnificent beings, first of their kind, extended their lineage by molding a foundational pair — one male and one female — for each of their seven hues. They breathed the breath of life into these creations, igniting within them the spark of mortality and growth. These pairs intermated, birthed children, and from their union, the Human race multiplied and spread throughout the cosmos. They became the embodiment of mortality, life, and balance. Then, the Fruit of Death and Life was split into seven parts. From these, the seven colored primordial vampires or the Thryvans were born. Like their counterparts, these beings of immense power forged their own foundational pair—one male, one female—for each color. But unlike humans, they infused their creations with blood, essence, and the power of the cosmos. These pairs, too, intermated, bore children, and from their line, the Vampire race was born, spreading through the stars as the mirror and shadow of humanity.

After shaping the Primordial Humans and Vampires, the Dragon God turned His gaze towards the Fruit of Radiance and the Fruit of Abyss (also known as the Abyssal Fruit).

He split the Fruit of Radiance into 7 parts. From each piece, a primordial gems were born — seven in total, each radiating a distinct color, the Lustrari. These 7 Primordial Gems, each a radiant being of immense energy and distinct color, brought forth the progenitors of their lineage through an act of Radiant Crystallization. They projected their essence outward, causing it to condense into nascent crystal-seeds—embryonic forms of the Gem Race. These seeds were then nurtured in mineral-rich sanctuaries or fused with raw elemental light and earth. Over time, they grew into humanoid forms, each bearing a unique, hidden gem at their core. The color and properties of each new being mirrored the essence of the primordial who birthed them. Through this act of solidifying radiant essence into life, the Gem Race became the living expression of "Somethingness"—that which is, and always will be.

The Gem Race, though humanoid in appearance, harbors a hidden crystal embedded deep within its body, radiating pure life force and serving as its source of power. If this crystal is shattered, the individual dies instantly. Due to this vital vulnerability, Gem culture places a deep value on privacy, trust, and secrecy, shaping social norms around the concealment and protection of one's inner essence. Their gem core serves as both a conduit and a catalyst for magic, allowing them to command a wide spectrum of magic: elemental, spiritual, and conceptual. Their radiant origin prohibits the use of dark magic, and like all races, they are incapable of wielding corrupted magic, which lies outside the natural forces of the universe. Their inherent light manifests in healing abilities, luminous auras, as a basis power of the race. While immensely powerful, their hidden vulnerability makes them targets for exploitation, though uncovering the exact location of their core remains exceedingly difficult.

The Abyssal Fruit was also split into 7 parts. From each piece, a primordial abyssal being was born — seven in total, each radiating a distinct color, the Umbryn. These 7 Primordial Abyssals, beings of deep void and raw will, brought forth the progenitors of their kind through a process known as Void Genesis. They employed their power of erasure not to destroy aimlessly, but to carve out absolute, perfect voids—true null-spaces, absent of light, matter, and even potential. Within these vacuums of existence, new Abyssals began to form, coalescing from the essence of nothingness itself. Each new being was born from the absence created by its progenitor, subtly shaped by the primordial's distinct void-aspect and primal color. Through this inverse act of creation, the Abyssal Race, also known as the Obscuryns, came into being—not by forming matter, but by making space for its absence to speak. They are the ultimate embodiment of "Nothingness"—that which is not, yet gives meaning to all that is.

The Abyssal Race consists of humanoid beings marked by their distinctive blue skin and quiet aura. Though linked to nothingness, they are far from emotionless; their personalities are nuanced and varied. The Abyssals wield the terrifying power of erasure, capable of nullifying elements, light, darkness—even abstract, conceptual forces, simply putting everything and nothing. However, their ability comes with a cosmic rule: they may only erase what is beneath them in nature or power. Anything above their innate tier is immune to their touch.

While they possess vast reserves of mana, erasure is costly—especially at larger scales. The greater the object or concept being erased, the more mana it consumes. Their powers are both feared and respected, as even other races understand that with intense training, similar effects (albeit lesser) can be imitated. Their power can also be used for "creation in reverse"—by clearing existence itself, they pave the way for new phenomena to emerge. As with all other races, Abyssals are unable to wield corrupted magic, as it is a deviation from natural law.

After shaping the Primordial Gems and Obscuryns (the Abyssals), the Dragon God turned His gaze towards the Fruit of Veiled Eclipse (the Fruit of Pure Darkness) and the Fruit of Luminous Dawn (the Fruit of Pure Light).

The Fruit of Veiled Eclipse was split into 7 parts. From each piece, a primordial Dercen was born — seven in total, each radiating a distinct color, known as the Ecliptans. These 7 Primordial Dercens, each a weaver of the veiled eclipse, each brought forth the progenitors of their lineage through a process known as the Mirrorborn Genesis. Each Primordial selected a place of deepest shadow—abandoned caverns, celestial voids, eclipsed realms. There, they focused their will and poured pure dark mana into the world. The darkness condensed, twisted, and took form—bodies sculpted from shadow, spirits infused with the Veiled Eclipse. Their eyes, born of utter absence, reflexively veiled themselves, absorbing all light and overwhelming them in brightness. This necessity, coupled with a sacred cultural tradition, ensured their eyes were always covered, symbolizing reverence for their origin and protecting others from the unsettling void of their gaze.

The Dercens, weavers of the Veiled Eclipse, are embodiments of true darkness. Though outwardly human in form, their eyes are pools of pure shadow, always hidden behind veils. Their mana and aura are suffused with blackness, transforming any spell they cast into a darkened version of itself—whether flame, lightning, or ice. They grow strongest under moonlight, starlight, and deep shadow.

The Fruit of Luminous Dawn was also split into 7 parts. From each piece, a primordial Litren was born — seven in total, each radiating a distinct color, known as the Glaviens. These 7 Primordial Litrens, bearers of the luminous dawn, also bore the progenitors of their kind through Mirrorborn Genesis. Each Primordial chose a realm of radiance—sun-cradled peaks, celestial vaults, dawn-forged realms. There, they radiated pure light mana, illuminating and sculpting their creations. From the brightness emerged bodies of brilliance, spirits forged in the Luminous Dawn. Their eyes, too intense to be seen, instinctively turned inward and were veiled, emitting intense light that would overwhelm others in darkness. This necessity and sacred tradition ensured their eyes were covered, symbolizing reverence for their origin and protecting others from their blinding brilliance.

The Litrens, bearers of the Luminous Dawn, represent the essence of true light. Though similar in appearance to humans, their eyes shine with concentrated radiance, forever concealed behind veils. Their mana and aura radiate with luminous brilliance, turning all magic they use into a brightened, glowing form. They grow strongest under sunlight, celestial energy, and open brilliance.

Both the Dercens and Litrens cover their eyes for identical reasons: necessity to moderate perception and remain balanced, cultural tradition symbolizing reverence and inner power, and protection for others. Their magic mirrors one another—neither superior, only inverted. Dercen magic is dense and concussive like a collapsing void, while Litren magic is equally dense but expands with radiant force, like a bursting star; both crush or shatter with overwhelming energy.

Dercen magic absorbs ambient mana or weakens enemy spells through engulfment, while Litren magic invigorates ambient mana or burns through enemy spells with intensity; both manipulate the battlefield's magical balance. Dercens create zones of shadow and silence, and Litrens create zones of light and clarity, disorienting enemies in opposite sensory ways. Dercen magic can cloak allies, obscure them, and subtly sap enemies' strength, whereas Litren magic can enhance allies' abilities or subtly restore stamina; both support their side through suppression or augmentation. Neither race is bound by moral extremes, as their affinity for light or dark is biological, not ideological. Both races encompass scholars, warriors, artists, and rulers—with varying cultures, faiths, and philosophies, and both wield all forms of magic except Dark Magic, which belongs to a separate race and functions independently of their nature.

Dercens and Litrens are cosmic mirrors, not rivals—night and day, necessary halves of a greater whole. They share limitations, being strongest in their aligned environments but weakest in extremes of the other. Their mutual respect stems from shared traits like veiled eyes, pure elemental mana, and instinctual power. They possess symbiotic potential, balancing each other in battle, politics, and culture, and embody a philosophical duality where the mystery of the unknown (Dercens) and the truth of revelation (Litrens) are intertwined.

Turning to the last pair among the Universal Tree fruits, the Dragon God meticulously divided the Fruit of the Sun and the Fruit of the Moon, each into seven distinct pieces.

From the radiant essence of the Fruit of the Sun, he formed the 7 colored primordials of the Pyrelux race, known as the Ignarions. Simultaneously, from the ethereal glow of the Fruit of the Moon, he brought forth the 7 colored primordials of the Brithrent race, known as the Tenebrea. The Brithrents—Shadows of the Moon—are a race fundamentally composed of shadows. They are beings of the night and its deepest recesses, embodying the very essence of twilight and the unseen. Born from the Fruit of the Moon, they exist as semi-corporeal entities primarily composed of shifting shadows, giving them an elusive and often unsettling presence. All Brithrents are female, acting as the moon to the Pyreluxes' sun, and at the core of their power is the command of true dark magic.

This is not a malicious or forbidden force in itself, but rather their inherent, fundamental ability to manipulate, extend, and empower shadows on an unparalleled scale. Their signature ability lies in their profound connection to the departed: they can raise and command the shadows of the fallen as their loyal soldiers. These spectral legions retain echoes of their former selves, growing in power and number based on the Brithrent's own immense mana capacity and individual skill. They view death not as an end, but as a transition, seeing themselves as keepers of the balance between life and its inevitable conclusion.

Due to their unique semi-corporeal nature, Brithrents largely perceive and interact with the physical world through their Pyrelux partners. They represent a formidable and unique power in the universe, an exclusive domain of the night and the spiritual remnants it harbors.

The Pyreluxes—Suns Incarnate—are a race of living suns, embodying pure radiance, power, and overwhelming heat. Born from the Fruit of the Sun, all Pyreluxes are male, acting as the sun to the Brithrents' moon.

They possess a humanoid appearance, yet their very essence radiates with the profound power of a star. Their bodies constantly emit intense heat, and they bear distinct markings reminiscent of the sun. The power they wield manifests as pure flames of the sun, capable of immense destructive force, but also, depending on the individual's mastery and control, capable of creation, purification, and other transformative properties.

An uncontrolled Pyrelux is a cosmic danger; thus, an "eternal sun without control of its power isn't allowed into the world," implying a rigorous path to discipline their formidable abilities. A unique aspect of their existence is the trace of shadow that constantly follows them – these are the Brithrents, their inseparable counterparts. This physical manifestation highlights their profound symbiotic relationship, where the Brithrents absorb the Pyrelux's boundless radiance.

Due to their immense heat and luminosity, no other being can truly approach a Pyrelux, just as no one but a Pyrelux can truly touch a Brithrent, cementing their exclusive bond. They are not connected to other celestial bodies; rather, they are celestial bodies made manifest from the Universal Tree.

Their life is intrinsically linked to their Brithrent partner: they cannot truly die in a normal sense. If a Pyrelux is killed while their Brithrent partner survives, their essence will simply return and reform.

The Sacred Bond between Brithrent and Pyrelux is one of perfect symbiosis, their lives bound in cosmic matrimony: "Sun and Moon. Fire and Shadow. Husband and Wife." Each pair forms a closed energetic circuit, balancing sunfire and shadow in eternal reciprocity. Their bond is one of exclusivity, where no other being may touch or withstand either race; they exist purely for each other—physically, spiritually, and magically. Their lives are intertwined even in death: if one is slain, the other's life sustains them, ensuring that as long as one partner lives, the other cannot die permanently and will eventually reform. If separated, a Brithrent may draw power from the moonlight and solar radiance, but this sustains her only in part, while Pyreluxes resonate naturally with the sun but gradually destabilize without their partner's balancing shadow.

Their procreation is unique: their union produces offspring exclusively by race, with male children born as Pyreluxes and female children as Brithrents. All descend from the original seven sacred pairs of Primordial Pyreluxes and Brithrents, who formed the root of both races through divine union and natural propagation. Together, they represent the duality of existence: "Where the Pyrelux gives light, the Brithrent gives form to shadow. Where one burns, the other cools. Where one destroys, the other remembers."
