Silph Co.!?
Isn't this the company building that was occupied by Team Rocket in the Pokémon games!?
Ethan observed more closely. Although everything on the first floor of the building seemed normal—security guards patrolled back and forth, and the receptionist sat bored, yawning—somehow, it just felt off to him.
Just then, a police car, sirens blaring, whizzed past Ethan, but it didn't stop at Silph Co.; instead, it drove further away. Ethan looked out and listened intently. It seemed a commotion was happening a few streets away.
Strange, how did I go in for a Gym battle and come out to find the whole city feeling a bit different? It was as if something big was happening!
Walking into an deserted alley, Ethan climbed to a high vantage point, then took out his binoculars from his backpack and looked up at the upper floors of Silph Co. The smoke there had dissipated. He could see several people in black uniforms with large 'R' logos on their chests, herding a group of researchers elsewhere and extinguishing roaring flames with fire extinguishers.
It's Team Rocket!
He thought for a moment, found a public phone booth, and dialed the emergency number. The phone rang for a long time before it was answered, but the information he received after explaining the situation shocked him!
"What? You've already sent people to Silph Co. and found no abnormalities?"
"That's right!" the other end of the line said. "And we've been there twice already, but everything was normal; we found nothing! Right now, there are Team Rocket members causing trouble in many parts of the city. We're already swamped and have no extra police force to deal with your pranks!"
"Huh?" Ethan quickly said, "This isn't a prank. I…"
Mid-sentence, Ethan sighed and hung up the phone. Now, he understood Team Rocket's plan.
Team Rocket first called the police themselves, sending them to Silph Co. But when the police arrived, because everything seemed normal, they could only treat it as a prank and return to the station. Then, Team Rocket sent out peripheral members to cause disturbances across the city, distracting the police, while their main force began to occupy the building. Even if researchers called the police, when law enforcement arrived again, they would be handled by the disguised Team Rocket members in the first-floor lobby. And having already been pranked, the police wouldn't inspect too carefully, dismissing it as a second prank.
At this point, they could confidently and boldly seize control of the entire Silph Co.!
What a clever strategy!
However, as an evil organization, since Ethan had witnessed it, he naturally wouldn't ignore the matter. Thinking this, he took a few photos with his phone and sent them to Handsome. However, these photos were taken a bit late. They didn't show Team Rocket or the captured researchers, only a few dissipating black smoke plumes and flashes of fire.
Handsome's call came quickly.
"Is it really a major Team Rocket operation?" Handsome's voice was agitated, yet tinged with regret and self-reproach. "Damn it, I'm currently in Celadon City, investigating a Team Rocket base. Even if I rush over immediately, it'll probably be too late."
"It's definitely a major operation," Ethan slowly said. "And from the looks of it, they've probably completely taken over the entire building."
Handsome asked, "Did you call the police?"
"Of course."
"What did the police say? Did they dispatch officers?"
Ethan gave a wry smile and recounted everything he had heard and his own theories.
"I see…" Handsome also understood the key point. "It seems they had this planned long in advance. But why would they attack that particular place?"
Silph Co. was the most famous producer and distributor of products in the Pokémon world. Many products, including Poké Balls, were manufactured by the company. Given Team Rocket's financial resources, they shouldn't need those Poké Balls. Moreover, if the incident were exposed, it would surely lead to a police counterattack. No matter how he thought about it, Handsome couldn't grasp the logic.
"Why bother with all that?" Ethan said indifferently. "Even if Team Rocket is going to give the Silph Co. owner a birthday greeting, we can't let them succeed!"
"You're right," Handsome chuckled, then his tone changed. "However, these photos of yours don't show Team Rocket. Even if I submit them to headquarters and they negotiate with the police, it probably won't inspire trust."
Ethan paused, "Are you that low-ranking in the International Police? You don't have any influence at all?"
"Ahem… let's not talk about that for now…" On the other end of the phone, Handsome cleared his throat awkwardly. "Right now, the priority is to find out what their true intentions are. Can you help me with this?"
Although Ethan was already inclined to help, he still said, "Hey, hey, as an International Police officer, isn't it a bit inappropriate to involve a regular citizen like me in such a dangerous matter?"
"You're no ordinary citizen!" Handsome flattered. "From the S.S. Anne incident last time, I could tell you're a kind-hearted elite Trainer. And I won't let you go in alone. I'll immediately send a request to the Pokémon League through personal connections, asking them to send someone to assist you!"
People from the Pokémon League? They handle this kind of thing?
Hanging up the phone, Ethan stood in the shadows, carefully observing Silph Co. After a while, a woman about his age walked up behind him. Ethan turned and saw it was Sabrina!
"Why are you here?"
Sabrina was also surprised to see Ethan. She said with a slight hint of surprise, "The Pokémon League just contacted me, saying an International Police officer needed help. I never expected it to be you."
"I'm not an International Police officer," Ethan quickly waved his hand. "I'm just helping him out. Have you heard what happened?"
Sabrina shook her head. "They just said it was urgent and asked me to come here to help and follow instructions, so I rushed over."
Having Sabrina's help was indeed a powerful asset. Ethan then recounted the entire situation to her.
"So, we just need to enter the building and figure out what's going on inside?" Sabrina turned to look at the Silph Co. building and asked, "How do we get in?"
"Blending in from the first floor is impossible," Ethan had clearly already thought of a plan. "Originally, I was going to have Kirlia use Confusion to send me in from above, then have Gastly scout around. But since you're here now, let's go in together!"
Ethan is about to infiltrate the Silph Co. building, which has been taken over by Team Rocket, with the unexpected but powerful assistance of Sabrina! His intelligence, combined with Sabrina's psychic abilities, forms a formidable duo against the cunning Team Rocket. Their method of entry will be crucial.
How will Ethan and Sabrina gain entry to Silph Co., and what kind of challenges or high-ranking Team Rocket members will they face inside the occupied building?
