✨ POV: Laz | Elena | Jake | Author
[Laz's POV]
I couldn't sleep.
The image of Elena walking into another guy's room kept playing in my head like a curse.
Sunlight spilled into my room—but it didn't help.
I dragged myself to the living room.
My boys—four younger guys I lead—were already there. Smoking, laughing, as usual.
"Yo."
"Boss!" they chorused, respectful as always.
I'm twenty-one. They're all younger.I'm their leader. Their big brother. Their blade.
"From today," I said coldly, "Elena is our main focus. Forget the rest."
One of them scoffed. "Why her? She's reckless. Her family doesn't even care about her."
That was it.
CRACK!
My fist connected with his jaw before I even thought.
He staggered back, holding his face.
"No one talks about her like that. Not ever."
Dead silence.
"You hear me?"
Everyone nodded. Fast.
"I'll watch over her. You lot stay clean. Master wants graduation with spotless records. No slip-ups."
They nodded again—this time sharper.
Yeah. That's my life now.Killer-in-training. Hired blade.I've killed before. I'll kill again.
And if you're wondering why I left Jake behind?
Don't.
I never liked him.
Kyla was the only reason I tolerated him. She's dead now.So is my patience.
I got dressed fast.
Went out to find Elena.
But the person I saw beside her... made my blood boil.
Jake.
Walking beside her. Both of them drenched in sweat.
Had they been running together? Laughing?
Elena... was smiling at him.
Jake was... smiling back.
The same Jake who never smiled at anyone.
What. The. Hell.
I stormed over.
"Elena. Good morning."I smiled. Fake.
She ignored me.
"I said good morning!" I snapped.
She turned, startled.
Jake looked up. His expression? Blank. Cold. Like I didn't exist.
"Did you just yell at me?" Elena snapped.
"I have every right. Boss said—"
"Tell your boss I don't need his damn help."
And she walked away.
Into Jake's room. Again.
This isn't a joke anymore.
Jake wants a war? He'll get one.
Just like with Kyla.
I clenched my fists. Lit a cigarette. My fingers shook.
[Author's POV]
Wait.
Did Laz just say he "handled" Kyla?
Wasn't she reported dead from Argent Blood Cancer...?
And what does Jake have to do with it?
Well—Back to the story.
That morning, Elena had the best run of her life.
Jogging beside her long-time crush—even if he barely said a word—made her day.
She was all laughter and smiles.Jake? Quiet as ever.
When she got tired, they turned back.
Then they ran into Laz.
Jake had already been warned.Mary had whispered through his earpiece.
But he played it cool.
Laz greeted Elena.Ignored Jake.
Jake didn't even blink.
But when Laz casually said, "Mrs. Elena,"Jake's brow lifted.
Elena exploded.
She cursed Laz out and stormed into Jake's room.
Inside, she flopped on the couch. Still burning.
"You should leave. Your people are waiting," Jake said flatly.
"What?" She blinked. "You're sending me away?"
"Yes. Get the f*ck out. I'm not in the mood."
He turned, opened his laptop.
Her chest cracked in two.She said nothing.
Just walked out.
Back at her dorm, her twin brothers were gaming.
She stormed into her room and slammed the door.
"I made him smile this morning..." she whispered."Why'd he go cold again? Does he think I'm dating that guy...?"
Tears prickled.
She stood.
Yanked off her top and shorts.
Her hourglass figure caught in the mirror.Flawless. Curved. Glowing. But she felt empty inside.
She showered. Dressed.
Still hoping to see Jake.
But when she opened the door...
Laz.
"Good morning, miss," he said, smirking.
"What do you want?"
"I'm escorting you to school. Boss's orders."
"What?"
"Your father appointed me as your personal guard."
Elena rolled her eyes.Knocked on Jake's door.
No answer.
Her heart sank.
She turned—And walked off with Laz.
[Scene: School Grounds]
Laz followed Elena like a silent shadow.
Even though they weren't in the same department.
It was Friday.Just two classes. Then the big event:
The Inter-Level Sports Tournament.
Elena?She couldn't focus.Mind spinning. Eyes distant.
She just stared out the window.
Jake.
Then the announcement hit:
🎤 "Good afternoon, students! I'm Mr. Donald, Assistant Director of the university. Welcome to the Inter-Level Tournament!"
"This runs every Friday and Saturday! Winners go from department → inter-university → national → then to face Erold and Heroparty!"
"You've got ONE HOUR to form teams! Each level gets TWO TEAMS! First game begins in 30 MINUTES!"
Cheers broke out everywhere.
[Scene: Match Ground – 100 Level Announcement]
Jake showed up.
So did Laz.
Aurora. Elena's brothers.
All the elite students.
But nobody noticed Jake.
Just the poor kid.A shadow.
The coach dumped him into Team 2—full of weaklings and misfits.
Jake said nothing.
But his mind was moving.
[Team 2 Formation – Jake's POV]
I gathered the 13 leftovers.
"What positions do you play?"
I listened. Thought.
Smiled.
"4-3-3."
They blinked.
"Seven defenders?"
"Perfect," I said.
Four defenders at the back.Three defensive mids.
We don't need to win.We just can't lose.
They nodded.
On the other side?
Team 1 was stacked.
Laz. Aurora. Hollande's son.All attack.Laz's crew in midfield.
Elena's younger brother in defense.
It was a dream team.
The coach? Only focused on Team 1.Everyone expected them to win.
[Commentator's Booth]
🎤 "Let the game begin!"
Jake bent down.Tightened his cleats.
A faint smile crossed his lips.
He had something in mind.
