Shun instinctively took a few steps back, cautiously. As he did, the water slowly rose and with it was a great brush of wind, fluttering his clothes and hair.
Shun turned his head to the fire before looking back at the rising water.
Quickly afterward, he planted his hand against the ground and lifted the earth below the firecamp. Once that was finished, he quickly went to Akira and shook her shoulders, trying to wake her up.
It was futile nevertheless, her eyelids kept shut. He then walked over to Micchan, tapping her cheek.
Yet instead of waking up, she changed her sleeping position.
"You've gotta be kidding me." His voice was low, and distressed. At the same time, he noticed the water was slowly getting to his ankle.
He eyed Akira and noticed the water had sunk her nose.
Without slowing down, he strode over. Water splashed as he walked. He then carried her on his shoulder.
Almost immediately, he heard a soothing lullaby. At first, it was muffled and faint, but with each second, it became louder.
Shun's eyes became heavy. His body became weak.
'So sleepy…' He muttered as he walked slowly like a zombie.
What he wanted right now is to halt whatever he was doing, plop to the ground and sleep.
Yet his instinct kept him awake, like a heretic's fork on his neck.
At this moment, his line of thought was fuzzy and blurry. He could only command himself simple things, and his subconscious mind is telling him to survive.
Combined, Shun simply did what should be the best course of action. He used his skill, [Echo of the Divine Forge] to raise two small pillars.
Following that, he put Akira first before walking over to Micchan and carrying her there.
With the two on each pillar, he manipulated the earth and increased its altitude. Now, with the firecamp, Akira and Micchan on a pillar around seven meters tall, Shun could felt a weight lifted off.
As the lullaby intensified, his strength squeezed out gradually. He became weaker as time went by.
