Chapter 5 - Château Aux-Le de Champignon

The limousine ride to Château Aux-Le de Champignon took about 30 minutes, the longest route would be an hour and a half, according to this body's memory.

After that, a purple castle and towers with anti-missile artillery and two Belissarius-535 7.0 tanks protected the castle on the outside, the drawbridge lowered and as soon as we passed the limousine stopped a few meters later.

The limousine driver opened the door and spoke with a strong Spanish accent in Latin.

"Crown Prince, Your Highness is at your residence, Château Aux-Le de Champignon, you may step out of the limousine."

I stepped out of the limousine and saw the inside of the castle, from what I remember of this body it is an 18th century castle made in 1782, made by the French engineer Charles Pierre Jean and completed in 1784, is the royal establishment of the Roman-tropical imperial family replacing the Palace of Neapolis, which is currently the museum of Roman-tropical Medieval History, since then, Château Aux-Le de Champignon has been updated to support new castle defenses rather than European castles that maintain their old structures.

The Imperial Guard fulfilled their mission and the driver returned the limousine, then they returned to the drawbridge and headed towards the military base to then go to the Palace Nova Florentia.

After a few seconds, a gardener appeared and spoke with a French accent in Latin.

"Welcome back Your Highness and Crown Prince of the Roman-Tropical Throne, Empress Flavia is in the living room with her cousin Princess Lucia."

I was surprised by the appearance of the gardener, but from what I remember of this body his name was Lucius Charles de Marmont, a Franco-Roman citizen who replaced the former gardener Valerius Constantius Favarus, who passed away two years ago, since then he has been the official gardener at Château Aux-Le de Champignon, he would certainly notice something different that I did now, so I nodded and replied.

"Thank you very much Charles, I will now enter the castle and meet with my grandmother, Empress Flavia and my cousin, Princess Lucia."

The official gardener nodded and went to the gardeners' house which was inside the castle, well now it's my turn to enter the castle.

I walked to the door and rang the bell, it took a few seconds until an employee opened the door, he was a middle-aged man with short black hair and brown eyes, he then spoke formally.

"Welcome back Your Highness, you may come in, Empress Flavia and Princess Lucia are waiting for you in the living room."

I greeted him and entered Château Aux-Le de Champignon.

Honestly, in my entire former life as an elite soldier doing interstellar missions, I traveled across entire solar systems, from shamanic tribes in the far reaches of space to civilizations that if they existed in the same period as Alexander the Great, they would make him a private soldier, this castle is very different from European castles, it is always changing so as not to become a mere castle that only expresses beauty of an ancient time, no, this castle is like a caterpillar always seeking to become a butterfly, it updates itself without losing the tradition of a castle that has housed more than 231 years of the Tropical-Roman Royal family, the castle is not for nothing the most historically preserved in the entire New World.

Inside the castle there were portraits of Roman generals facing the Portuguese, others showed the Battle of New Tarragona, some porcelain jars from the Qing Dynasty, a Katana belonging to Oda Nobunaga, a scimitar that belonged to Nader Shah and a portrait of Emperor Titus I with Pope Leo XIII in the Sistine Chapel.

Entering the living room, there was a middle-aged woman with brown wavy hair and brown eyes, on the other side a young woman with wavy hair and green eyes, they were respectively Empress Flavia and Princess Lucia.

Princess Lucia then gets up from the sofa, comes towards me, hugs me and says with her Sardinian Italian accent.

"Welcome back cousin, our grandmother was very worried about your situation that happened in Madrid, I am absolutely sure that this must have left some trauma in you and maybe you stop being the rattle that was before."

Princess Lucia Helena Giulia, representative of part of the House of Titus in the Old World and ambassador of the Tropical Roman Empire in Italy, is 38 years old and is married to Lieutenant Colonel Ambrosius Claudius Galba, one of the most brilliant Roman-tropical generals of his generation, has two sons and practically she bridges the link between modern Rome and Augustopolis, she has a peculiar sense of humor that would be close to The Office, but despite this she is a serious woman in matters that interest Augustopolis.

Apparently the memories of this body are working in synergy with me, well, I must impress my cousin who expects me to do something befitting the former owner of this body, I'll impress her by speaking Italian.

"Grazie mille cugino mio, sto imparando a parlare italiano così forse un giorno potrò vedere la Roma giocare in Serie A."

Princess Lucia was impressed that I spoke Italian, she then said still impressed.

"I don't know what happened in Madrid, but that young man who talked a lot finally used his gift to speak the language of Dante Alighieri, that's a good step, cousin."

Princess Lucia walked away from me and Empress Flavia stood where she was and spoke in her Sicilian accent, furious that I had spoken in Italian.

" Learning to speak the dialect of that 1861 farce called Italy? My grandson will not learn the language that sidelined the Roman legacy! That histrionic bald man who invaded Ethiopia in 1936 and declared himself Duce, tarnished the Roman legacy and ended up burying any chance of a process of Latinization in Italy! The language of Cicero and Pliny cannot be stained with an artificial state created upon confiscation from the Catholic Church! While you are living here, this language forged by faithless men from Northern Italy is forbidden to be spoken here in the castle!"

Ah, Empress Flavia or Flavia Marjorie Carla Pietra, is a noblewoman who descends from Eastern Roman nobles who fled to Sicily after the Fall of Constantinople, from 1453 until 1861, her descendants were always in government, whether the Aragonese, Castilians, French and finally the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, they were there, until in 1861 modern Italy was created and the red shirts and the Italian army expelled my grandmother's ancestors, She still holds a grudge when people talk about modern Italy and it always ends in a heated argument, so I think it's best to avoid topics involving modern Italy when I'm with my grandmother.

Princess Lucia chuckled at the tension in the living room and said something to calm things down.

"Okay, let's avoid talking about Italy after 1861, from 1860 until 753 BC we can talk about Italy, being the Kingdom of Rome, Roman Republic, Roman Empire and Italian states from the 7th century until the 19th century."

Empress Flavia was still visibly irritated, but decided not to start an argument, so she maintained her composure and ordered me.

"Go take a shower Titus Commodus Augustus, dinner is almost ready and then go to sleep, because the Castalia Imperial School will return to classes tomorrow, Thursday."

Well, I'm really tired of this trip from Madrid to Augustopolis and then the limousine ride here, well, I better follow my grandmother's advice.
