"Okay," Ryan replied, putting down his phone. He glanced at the clock on the wall opposite his desk. There were still 30 minutes left. His fingers tapped the desk unconsciously as he thought about tonight. Today marked their 3-month anniversary. Carl had already booked a restaurant for them to celebrate. Ryan had quietly bought a small gift. A pair of gardening gloves, perfect for his hobby. Ryan hoped Carl would like them.
"Ryan," Stella's voice pulled him from his thoughts. She was leaning on his desk with a mischievous grin.
"Is something the matter?" Ryan asked.
"Well, there's a new karaoke place that opened on Ninth Street. All of us are going tonight, and we invited some of the guys from Botney. You don't go out much, how about you come along?"
"No, thank you," Ryan said politely.
"Come on, it'll be fun!" Mary chimed in from across the room. "Plus, you could meet someone."
