Chapter 41: facing the chimera to get the map
This was all kept secret while Dobby used his time to carefully master the wand. He did not specifically save anyone at the end of the year but Dobby completed his mastery of the new wand and it obeys him.
Then he chose the full moon day to go in again. The dead giant squid that started to rot there so the water is completely messed up. Fortunately this water would not flow out into the lake outside.
Dobby did not want to eat this giant dead squid so he directly used the lightning wand to levitate it into the air and directly burned it into dust. This dust would be nourishment for those plans in the lake.

But there is poison in the air in the room. Also when he takes the map it would definitely make sound or something like in all the movies. It is a natural thing. No matter how well you sneaked you would meet a situation where you cannot escape.
So Dobby prepared special antidote pill and special oxygen cylinder for breathing. At the same time he also prepared gasoline filled in a plastic bag. It would burst with a simple touch. He would throw this when the beast noticed him.
Naturally this kind of beats or a dragon would first breathe fire as if it is their birth right to burn their targets to death. So Dobby throwing the gasoline bag would be no different than throwing a bomb on the beast.

So he has to run away from here without looking back. Even though he mastered the wand it did not mean that he can kill the beast with lightning. It is not that he doesn't want to attack it with lightning. It is just that he don't know any spells related to lightning element.
Well the exception is the killing curse which is actually related to the lightning element that is meant to destroy the soul and body connection. Unfortunately this kind of spell is useless against the beast like chimera.
So he made such an elaborate plan to snatch the map instead of fighting it head on. If it was the squid before it was just a giant thing and it is stupid without any special powers. So he can kill it in its home ground making it his home ground with plants.
But the current situation is different. In the castle he cannot plant anything. There is magic that would clean the great hall every time. Even in the head master office he brought the soil along with him to use it as the source to let the plants grow.
Also the soil was not directly poured on the ground but was put in bag neatly and carefully. With him constantly generating the vitality he was able to solve the crisis. But here the beast can move almost all the area of the great hall.
The great hall is filled with the poisonous mist that is very corrosive. At that same time the problem with fire. All these things are opposite to the plants that Dobby is related to. So he can only do this plan that is much easier and effective.
He put on the invisibility cloak and walked into the great hall. He is wearing special leaf slippers that are resistant to poison. The floor is clean with magic but it was specifically arranged to not to remove the poison.
So he cannot just walk over stupidly and die with poison entering his legs. It would be like walking on the burning coal pieces. The poison would enter from below and paralyze the person step by step. It would be extremely painful process.
It will fell that your skin, nerves, flesh and bones are burning on fire. As for how he knows well he checked it out from the information at Hogwarts library. He did a complete research on this creature that is different from the stories back on earth.
The leaves under his feet are constantly supplied with the vitality. But when stepping on the poison they would dissolve in the acidic poison and got damaged. Even though they are repaired with vitality the smell of burning is still there.
