Chapter 39 – "The haunted ruins of reality
Unknown opened his eyes.
He looked around, wondering where he was currently. By coincidence,
he looked in the direction of the date paper.
The date written on it was 2/7/2020. At that moment, he remembered what had happened to him last night.
Unknown frowned and said to himself: "Now… the moment of truth."
But before he could continue,
his stomach started making noises.
His expression changed,
then he ran quickly,
ran and ran until he reached the bathroom.
After relieving himself,
he decided to head to the city once again.
And thus began another round of Unknown's wandering around the city, shouting like usual:
"Is anyone here?!"
Unknown's fear increased with every passing minute he walked without seeing anyone,
and it grew even more when he screamed in the middle of the city, yet no one responded.
Unknown began to behave strangely.
He started talking to himself out loud.
He began saying silly things about this all being a prank and that they should come out and end it.
He started running and behaving oddly.
Sometimes he laughed loudly.
Sometimes he cried.
Sometimes he did nothing.
Or a mix of all those things.
After four hours of this behavior, it seemed Unknown had realized something.
He sat down on the ground,
then with all his strength, he hit himself.
Unknown groaned in pain, but he gritted his teeth and endured it.
Why did he do that?
Because humans are social beings,
they need interaction with others.
When there's no one to interact with, the brain subconsciously tries to distract itself with something else to push away the fear.
Yes… fear.
If humans don't talk to others, they'll become afraid.
Eventually, that fear turns into madness.
Unknown realized this.
That's why he tried to keep himself awake by any means.
And the best way to stay awake in such a situation is…
To fight fear with pain.
Unknown 2 wasn't someone with a strong will;
things like fear and pain were on another level for him—
he couldn't deal with them.
After a few minutes, as the pain faded,
the fear began to rise again.
What helped spread that fear was the strange things starting to happen around him.
Unknown decided to return to the police station. He decided that it would be his stronghold for now.
But on the way, strange things occurred.
Why did rust appear on this pole?!
It was brand new just moments ago.
Unknown began to tremble with fear.
He had passed this pole just two hours earlier.
He remembered it because it was taller than the others.
It was clearly very new…
But look at it now—
It looked completely rusted.
Unknown located the police station and tried to run.
But his body wouldn't respond.
He looked down at his stomach.
His expression shifted to shock and deep fear.
He started screaming
and tried to run toward the police station.
Suddenly, Unknown opened his eyes.
He looked around.
His eyes landed on the date paper.
And now… the date was:
