Chapter 38 - The Last Night of Safety

Chapter 38 : The Last Night of Safety

In the police station,

Unknown began to wander around, hoping to find someone.

He walked around, calling out, "Is anyone here?" but no one answered.

He shrugged his shoulders and arrived at a spot with a refrigerator.

He looked around—no one was there—and then heard his stomach growling.

So, he went to the fridge and opened it.

Unknown was filled with joy. There was enough food in the fridge to last him a week.

He took some of the food and began eating voraciously.

He looked around again and saw a paper with the date written on it,

And the date was exactly the same as the one he remembered from today—

It was 2020/07/01.

After Unknown finished eating,

He tried to organize his thoughts and make sense of the events that had happened.

First, he was on his way home, and somehow ended up in this strange place.

Second, it didn't seem like there was anyone here.

"Man, I shouted so much my throat started to hurt, but no one answered me!"

Third, since the date written on the paper matches the day he was in before arriving here,

That meant he wasn't too far from his home—

Or at least, that's what he assumed.

Unknown tried to figure out why he was here, how to get out,

And whether there was anything he could do at all.

But he found no answer.

There was no logical explanation for how he got here.

Second... where could he even go?

If even this city was abandoned, then where could he possibly go? The forest?!!

Unknown quickly dismissed that idea.

Then he asked himself if there was anything he could actually do.

He told himself,

"Let's be realistic—there's nothing I can do."

Or… wait a minute.

Unknown remembered something.

Then he quickly looked at a place near the refrigerator—

In that spot, 11 meters away, there was a landline phone.

Unknown ran toward it, but—

Wait a second...

He stopped himself abruptly.

"Why am I this fast?"

Unknown raised his eyebrow in surprise and said to himself:

"I must be imagining things…

But no harm in testing it."

Unknown tried to jump—

And flew a meter and a half into the air.

He was amazed.

And like anyone who's just discovered something new,

He started jumping and running back and forth.

He fell a few times, but quickly got used to it.

After a while, Unknown remembered that he should call his uncle, Ibrahim.

So he quickly went to the phone and dialed Ibrahim's number.

The phone started to ring—

Ring ring… ring ring…

Unknown held the phone and waited for Ibrahim to answer.

But...

After three minutes, Unknown frowned.

"Is my uncle's phone turned off?"

He hung up, then dialed Adam's number.

And the same thing happened again.

He then tried calling every number he remembered, even his own phone—

But no one answered.

Unknown's frown deepened,

And the fear he was trying to suppress began to grow stronger.

He looked up at the sky—

It looked like it was midnight.

He glanced toward a place that resembled a bed.

Drowsiness began to wash over him.

Without realizing it, Unknown got up and lay down on the bed.

He didn't fight the sleep—he was afraid,

And tried to delay facing that fear with a bit of rest.

He told himself:

"Whatever happens… I'll deal with it tomorrow."

But he didn't know...

That tomorrow, the real fear would begin.

Tomorrow, the true suffering would start.
