Synopsis
TRIGGER WARNING: This story contains dark themes including emotional manipulation, psychological trauma, blood consumption, violence, unhealthy family dynamics, and depictions of power imbalance. Reader discretion is advised. "Blood. Desire. Betrayal. And a girl caught in the fangs of it all." When Annette is sent to the enigmatic Heinz family's castle for bridal lessons, she expects cold etiquette and suffocating tradition-not six dangerously beautiful vampire brothers with secrets darker than the night. At the center of it all is Shuu, her aloof fiancé, whose languid indifference hides a hunger that sends shivers down her spine. But the Heinz brothers are more than just predators; they are rivals, each with his own twisted game, and Annette has unwittingly become their favorite pawn. As she navigates a world where one wrong move could mean her death-or worse-Annette must decide where her loyalty lies: with her own survival, with the hauntingly captivating Shuu, or with a future steeped in blood. In a house where love and cruelty are two sides of the same coin, only one thing is certain: the deeper she's drawn into their web, the harder it will be to escape. Perfect for fans of dark romance and heart-pounding gothic intrigue. This is a work of fan fiction based on the Diabolik Lovers series created by Rejet. Chapter 1 - Author's note

Heya, it's the author here!

It's hard to believe it's been over 13 years since Diabolik Lovers first came out. You might be wondering why I'm writing a fanfiction for it now, so long after its release. Back when I first discovered the anime as a teenager—and later stumbled across the otome game (which, sadly, wasn't even sold in my country)—it became a fleeting obsession of mine. Like many things from my youth, it faded into the background... until I revisited it last year.

This time, seeing it with older eyes, I realized there were so many things I hadn't understood as a teen. Back then, internet access was limited and I hadn't been able to explore the series fully. But now, with fresh curiosity and a need to take my mind off my studies, I found myself diving back in. That's when the idea for this story took shape.

This fanfiction began during a particularly difficult time in my life—while I was preparing for stressful exams. In many ways, this story became an outlet for my frustrations and emotions (though, of course, they're exaggerated and woven into this dramatic narrative).

This story can be read with or without prior knowledge of the original anime, otome game, or manga. It's set approximately 200 years before the main plot of Diabolik Lovers begins. While I've kept certain concepts and elements from the original (like the idea of the "Sacrificial Bride"), I've also added my own world-building and slightly altered some existing ideas to fit this prequel timeline.

Please note: I do not condone any acts, behaviors, or ideologies depicted in this fiction. This is purely a work of imagination, created for entertainment purposes only.

For those who aren't familiar with the Diabolik Lovers universe or would like a refresher, I'll include a general description of the characters and world later in this work.

I hope you enjoy reading this story as much as I enjoyed writing it.
