Chapter 10 - Naivety in Power

Days later, Lucian sat at his PC chatting with Onetwo about his knockoff NetSpector, asking him what features he should add.

--------------

@Abyss: I want to add a port scanner to it, though I can't find anything about the latest stuff.

Onetwo: A port scanner would be cool, but before you do, you should add some things like an auto device fingerprint checker, and real-time connection monitoring.

@Abyss: But I can't find the exact tutorials for it.

Onetwo: They are widely available on PyShell and RootWorks websites.

@Abyss: thanks.

Onetwo: I do want something along with adding these. Why don't you also add a BSSID tracker?

@Abyss: What's that?

Onetwo: It's basically just the router's ID number. That way you can keep a database of which networks you've scanned, even if they change names. It'll make your logs way cleaner.

@Abyss: So like an organizer.

Onetwo: Exactly. You'll know if you've scanned the same place before, and it's great for comparing results over time. Some guys even use it for Wi-Fi heatmaps, but that's overkill for you right now.

@Abyss: Is that easy to add?

Onetwo: I can help you with that... I could also give you a task for it.

@Abyss: Task?

Onetwo: Yeah. Once you've built the BSSID tracker, try scanning a decent portion of your area — coffee shops, libraries, parks, wherever — and send me the results. I'll pay you for it. Your version of NetSpector will log it cleaner than mine, and since you're actually there, you'll pick up local signals I can't get remotely.

@Abyss: That… sounds doable.

Onetwo: Great. Think of it as both practice and a paid test run.

@Abyss: How are you going to pay me?

Onetwo: I can pay directly to your bank account.

@Abyss: I don't have any... How about buying me something?

Onetwo: Sure. Ya

Lucian hesitated, there was something he wanted to buy...

@Abyss: Nox Pentesting kit.

Onetwo: That's costly... I can buy that for just some IDs.

@Abyss: I can give as much as you want... Those IDs.

Onetwo: Then, how about you give 150-200 IDs? I will send you some gift cards so you can buy the kit.

@Abyss: Yes... Ok

------

Lucian, leaning back, looks directly at his monitor... Then, eventually, leaning back and searching for the Nox Pentesting kit to see the price.

(Sighs)

"I have been doing this for months now, every time I see a new forum or chat group, they all talk about Nox Kit... If I can have it then!" Said Lucian as his cheeks widened with a smile.

Lucian, seeing his dreams to come, replies Onetwo again...

-----

@Abyss: You are not going to play me right?

Onetwo: I don't worry as long as you can provide, I will always be in contact.

Onetwo: Where do you live?

Lucian naively answers.

@Abyss: Georgia... USA

Onetwo: Very well... Let's start from tomorrow then... I hope you are free.

@Abyss: Sure.

Chat Disconnected.

---------

Lucian sat there, stars in his eyes, imagining the kit on his desk

.

"Finals next week," he muttered, glancing at the folder of question papers on his desktop.

"As long as I get an A-, I'm good." His grin widened.

***

A week later,

Evening, after the first test,

Luna hummed softly as the scent of simmering stew filled the kitchen, a rare moment of peace. Then—thud. Her smile froze.

Luna's humming stopped abruptly at the loud thud.

"Luci? Are you okay?" she called, concern sharpening her voice.

From upstairs came Lucian's strained reply,

"Everything good..."

But inside his room.

Lucian's fingers curled tightly around the edge of the desk, knuckles white. The sting from his smashed hand radiated up his arm, but the frustration twisting inside him burned hotter.

"Fck!... " Sitting back on his chair as he looks at the blank terminal. His hand is still singing. Lucian said.

"Why won't it work? Onetwo isn't online I can't ask him. Fck!"

(Cleanched his first)

Lucian was pasting Python scripts for the port scanner module, tweaking parameters to fit his NetSpector— but every attempt either crashed the terminal or yielded nothing but a blank screen.

Frustration curled up like a fiery pit, breathing heavily, Lucian's rage quits, shutting his PC off directly, and losing his slight progress. Which he regretted the same night.

Midnight,

(Eyes twitching)

"Can't fcking believe this... I didn't save," Lucian muttered, fingers flying across the keyboard as he retyped everything he'd written earlier that evening.

Days blurred together — one, then another, then a week. Before Lucian realized it, two whole months had slipped by. Finals were over, and summer vacation had arrived, leaving him with more time than he knew what to do with.

But it worked... Finally.

-------

Onetwo: What does it show?

@Abyss: What it's meant to.

-------

Lucian leaned in, eyes locked on the latest build of NetSpector. It was faster, stronger, and completely his. Sure, the code was a mess — tangled with leftover scraps and half-baked tweaks — but it did exactly what he wanted. And in his book, that was perfection.

He even gave it a new name: Alleyes.

His bloodshot eyes stung as he stared at the screen; his skin had the pale tone of someone who hadn't seen the sun in weeks. No excitement, no disappointment—just the quiet satisfaction of knowing it worked. The kind of tool that, in the wrong hands, could see far too much.

Lucian's fingers slowly moved as it was time to run it.

> python alleyes.py --scan

The terminal froze for a second, then...

Lucian was amused but had no energy to show it; he just stood up slouching, turned off his pc—His legs wobbling withe ach step he collapsed on his bed, getting the sleep he truly deserved.

However, the work is not finished.

Two days later, Sunday

For the first time in weeks, Lucain woke without thinking about code. But breakfast wasn't just breakfast today — he had a new plan in mind.

Lucian was halfway through a mouthful of toast when his father spoke.

"You got an A in your finals, I heard."

He looked up from his plate. "Yeah… I passed."

Luna's face lit up. "That's very good! Seventy-eight in total," she said, as if she'd been waiting all morning to mention it.

Julian leaned back in his chair, a faint smile tugging at his mouth. "Do you want a laptop, Lucian?"

Lucian blinked. How did he—? "Uh… yeah."

"Alright then. I'll buy one next week."

Luna wagged a spoon at him. "You better take good care of it."
