POV: Ember
I hurled the romance novel across my bedroom and watched it smash against the wall.
"Perfect couples with perfect problems!" I shouted at the fallen book. "Why can't my life be that simple?"
For three hours, I'd been locked in my room reading stories about women who had to choose between two men. Every single book ended the same way - the heroine picked one true love and lived happily ever after.
But what if you couldn't choose? What if both loves felt equally true?
A soft knock on my door interrupted my thoughts.
"Mama?" Hope's little voice called through the wood. "Are you okay?"
My heart clenched. I'd been so focused on my own frustration that I'd forgotten about my children.
"I'm fine, sweetie," I called back, unlocking the door.
Hope pushed it open and peeked inside, her green eyes wide with worry. Behind her, Hunter clutched his stuffed bear.
"Why were you yelling?" Hunter asked.
