Chapter 93 - CHAPTER 93

c93: Let Whis Train Luya! Spicy Strips Reappear in the Multiverse

Trunks went to visit Gohan, while Goku was sparring with Luya inside the gravity-controlled chamber of the Capsule Corporation. Day by day, time flowed like a gentle river.

Three days later...

Goku and the others gathered in the lush garden of Bulma's West City mansion, a familiar gathering place for the Z-Fighters. Many friends had arrived, sensing that something significant was on the horizon.

At this moment, Trunks (Da Te) was silent and contemplative.

He had gone to visit his brother Gohan but the Gohan he saw now was far different from the warrior he once knew in the apocalyptic future. That Gohan was passionate and unrelenting, once tapping into Super Saiyan 2 against Cell. But the present Gohan had married Videl, started a family, and embraced a peaceful academic life. He radiated warmth and tranquility the very life Trunks had always dreamed of for himself, for his mother, and for little Mai.

Trunks couldn't help but feel envy toward Gohan's peaceful happiness... but also disappointment. The heroic figure he once looked up to now seemed so distant, a shadow of his former self.

The contrast made Trunks ache.

At that moment, Bulma approached, holding a data tablet. "I've finished preparing the time machine's fuel. There's enough to go there and back!"

"That's good to hear. I've been itching to fight this Black Goku!" Vegeta said coolly, arms crossed, but his eyes sharp with anticipation.

"Thanks for your hard work, Bulma! We'll bring back good news," Goku grinned brightly.

"Hold on a second!" Bulma frowned. "The time machine's only got enough space for three people. Are you sure you want four of you to cram inside?"

"Uh…" Goku scratched his head. This was a problem. He, Vegeta, and Trunks were all definite but Luya also intended to go.

"Tch. We don't need that many people," Vegeta said, voice filled with pride. "Even if Black Goku's strong, he's no match for Super Saiyan Blue."

"Is that really so?" Trunks looked conflicted. He believed in Goku and Vegeta's strength, but Black Goku was still a mystery... and terrifyingly powerful. He, a Super Saiyan, couldn't even touch him.

Luya smiled faintly. "If you're confident you can handle Black Goku, I won't go. You guys take the lead."

Vegeta closed his eyes, saying nothing more.

Bulma exchanged glances with Goku, and Goku gave Luya a warm smile. "Trust us a little more, Luya."

Luya nodded. "Alright. I won't join this time."

With that settled, Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks entered the restored Time Machine together.

"Good luck, everyone! Come back safely!" Goku waved cheerfully.

"Bon voyage!" Bulma waved from the ground.

Boom!

Fwoosh!

The Time Machine rose into the air, then vanished in a streak of white light.

They were gone.

Luya looked up thoughtfully, then turned to Bulma. "We should start preparing another batch of fuel. They'll definitely need it again when they return."

"Huh?" Bulma blinked. "What do you mean, Luya?"

Beerus and Whis both turned their eyes toward Luya.

"Wait, are you saying that Goku and the others won't be able to defeat Black Goku?" Beerus asked flatly.

Luya nodded. "It's just... intuition."

"Hmph. Then why did you agree to stay back so easily? Don't you want to help?" Beerus asked, narrowing his eyes in suspicion.

"It's not that I don't want to. Goku and Vegeta seem confident, and I didn't want to interfere. When they return, if the situation hasn't changed, I'll go with them then."

"You speak as if they'll be back soon…" Bulma muttered, puzzled.

"I don't know for sure," Luya replied with a slight smile, "but better to have the fuel ready. If anything goes wrong, they'll need a way back."

"Fair enough," Bulma nodded.

Suddenly, Luya turned to Beerus. "Lord Beerus, would you spar with me?"

Beerus raised an eyebrow. "You want me to spar with you? Aren't you overestimating yourself?"

Luya grinned. "Maybe. But I want to push past my current limit. I need to break through to the next stage."

Beerus waved a hand dismissively. "Not interested. Ask Whis instead."

Luya turned toward Whis. "Master Whis, what do you think?"

Whis smiled. "Well, Goku and Vegeta always bring me gifts when they train with me. So, Luya… what do you have for me?"

Luya paused. He knew Whis had a love for exotic foods. That was likely the kind of "gift" he was hinting at.

Luya quietly activated his system. "Hey, System! Do you have anything delicious in your inventory?"

System: "This system does not sell food. Cough, I mean, this system does not include culinary modules."

"Seriously? I thought you were a universal system." Luya was disappointed.

System: "This system is specialized in Dragon Ball content. Food is not within operational parameters."

"Looks like I'll have to cook something myself." Luya sighed.

System: "…"

Luya turned back to Whis. "Alright, I'll prepare a snack you've never tried before. If you like it, you'll agree to train me deal?"

Whis' eyes lit up. "Really? Then I'll happily await this 'mystery' food."

"Huh? What's this about food?" Beerus' ears twitched.

Luya smiled. "Sorry, Lord Beerus, this batch is for Whis."

"You!" Beerus was annoyed. Why was this kid so cheeky?

Luya asked Bulma to bring flour and chili peppers. He then started cooking — using the culinary skills he had picked up in his original world.

Soon, he returned with a steaming plate of spicy snacks.

Before he even reached the group, the aroma wafted through the air, catching everyone's attention.

"That smell! It's spicy and savory... what is that?!" Goten sniffed the air like a puppy.

"This scent...!" Beerus and Whis both turned in unison, eyes wide.

Beerus looked at the plate curiously. "What are these stick-like things?"

Luya grinned. "My custom creation a unique snack from my world. I call them spicy strips, or 'Latiao'!"

"Spicy strips?" Beerus and Whis repeated.

"That's right. Try them! They're homemade, so not factory-grade, but they're still delicious."

Beerus and Whis exchanged a glance, each taking one.

The moment they bit down...

"Wha?" Beerus' eyes popped open. "The texture… chewy yet firm! Not like melting ice cream, but incredibly satisfying!"

"And the spice!" Whis closed his eyes blissfully. "It dances on the tongue like flame. Fiery yet balanced. Marvelous!"

"Well? How is it?" Luya said smugly.

"Fantastic! You must make more for me from now on!" Beerus declared.

"And my training?" Luya pressed.

"Haha! Consider it done," Whis chuckled. "I'll guide your training from today forward."

Food truly was the path to an angel's heart.

Luya smirked. Mission complete.

Ding!

Congratulations! You have successfully persuaded an Angel or God of Destruction to train you! Rewards granted…

Ding! Reward: 2 billion combat power points!

Ding! Reward: Angel Energy Permission! The host can now perform feats powered by angelic energy!

Ding! Reward: God of Destruction's "Hakai Blast"! One-time use of destruction energy equivalent to Beerus' own!

Luya's eyes widened. This system… is insane!

If Goku and the others hadn't left, he wouldn't have triggered this event. There was no way he'd ask Beerus to spar otherwise.

All thanks to… spicy strips.

Latiao yyds!

(Latiao: forever the best!)
