After her afternoon with Lucas and Elena, Mila returned to the Kane villa with her nanny. This time, as the car pulled up to the large, stone driveway, Mila wasn't clinging to the nanny's hand or dragging her feet. Instead, she walked with a quiet, calm expression, her little backpack bouncing gently on her shoulder.
Inside the grand foyer, Vivienne was waiting. She stood by the staircase, dressed elegantly as always, her phone already in hand. When she saw Mila, she put on a smile and stepped forward.
"Mila, darling, there you are," Vivienne said, her voice smooth but distant. She crouched slightly to look at her daughter's face, but her eyes kept darting to her phone screen. "Are you alright? You're not scared anymore, right?"
Mila nodded, her face composed and her eyes steady. "Yes, Mommy. I'm okay," she replied softly.
