Chapter 162 - The Return Arc: One

Sous pushed away from the desk in Faye's home office. She just got finished applying for a position for the Wendigo transport team. She had spent a couple of days working on her resume and uploading references, also having them checked over by Faye, just in case.

"How'd it go?" DeFaye asked, popping up beside Sous. He was good at teleporting, and was the spitting image of Faye including the cornrows the priestess used to where when she was younger. But DeFaye didn't wear glasses nor did he constantly have snot coming from his nose.

Sous chuckled and looked back at the computer screen. So much had changed since she was in prison. Technology was much more common even amongst magae and she was able to get back into reading visual novels.

She remembered having blushed when Makala saw her reading some on her laptop late one evening. Books were much more expensive than before so visual novels was another outlet for her to entertain yourself.

Sous got up out of the chair and stretched. She looked back at the computer, hoping that she got the position. "Its weird," she said to DeFaye. "One minute I'm a fourth year in Hacate and next I'm a thirty-five year old applying for jobs using a human invention."

The living room, Faye and Makala were heading out to go on a date since it was their date night. Cherie and DeFaye were old enough to be on their own so Faye told Sous about a pub that had wolves there. Sous had come to realize that besides for Tany, she really only fancied wolves.

Sous walked the planks to the destination that was about a two to three mile walk. She could have easily scaled the trees but Sous was nervous when it came to activities she hadn't done in a while. She was much older so she was much more cautious now.

There it was in the distance though, a small pub that had several wolves standing outside just talking. She walked through the crowd, eyes on her as she made her way inside, Omegas turning to her upon smelling her scent.

"A cup of blood, please, boiled and warm," Sous said, putting some change on the bar table.

Sous sat at the bar, remembering she couldn't speak a lick of Ench so she wasn't really able to speak to any of the Omegas. She was also bad at pheromone reading because she, herself, didn't have them due to her blood mixture. She had a scent that heighten around rut and that was it.

She finished her glass of blood and looked around the bar, something caught her eye over on the wall by the restrooms.

"What is that over there?" She asked the bar keep.

"Iz za phone. Za human inventzion," the bar tender said with his accent.

It was different looking than a cellphone. It just sat on the wall. "How do I use it?"

"Zouz callz zhe number, uze zhe operator. Zero."

Sous got off her stool and walked to the phone on the wall. She pressed zero and listened. An operator on the other line picked up.

"Where may I direct your call?"

"...uh, Kara Apex in Canas, Apex...pack," Sous said.

"Please hold." The phone rung on the other side, Sous twirled the cord and waited patiently. While doing so, she locked eyes with an Omega with dark black hair that went to her shoulders. She smiled at Sous. And Sous smiled back.

"Sous...?"

Sous was silent when she heard Kara's voice. She licked her lips, they became dry all of a sudden.

"Kara..." she whispered.

"Hello, Sous." The Omega said on the other line.

There were so many things she wanted to say to the Omega but had no idea where to start. "How are you?"

"Good now that I'm hearing your voice. You're out?"

"Yes, and I want to see you..."

Kara hung up the phone while out on her luxurious patio in the backyard that sat beside a large fountain pool. She placed her cell phone to the side, surprised by the call even with little time for them to speak because of the time limit and spending limit on bar phones.

Zhiliary came outside and gave Kara a cold glass of tea, their youngest in the living room watching television.

"Who was that so late in the evening?" The Alpha asked sitting down, popping a biskit in her mouth. She rubbed her hands and drunk some of her tea.

"It was a client interested in partnering with Hacate even though I no longer work there." It was a red flag it was so easy for her to lie.

"Have you spoken with Doureena, she called, you know?"

"I have no desire to speak to her." It was a day Kara couldn't forget. A day where her first born was ripped from her arms and taken to a witch in Vania. There were times when Kara wanted to go Vania, search out this witch, get her daughter back but with seven other children and the daughter being full grown already, would it be wise.

"Sous is out of prison," Zhiliary said. "I suspect she's going to come see you so I made so to put out a bulletin for the wolves to be on the look out.

Sous looked at the condom that was in her hand. She was outside in the back of the pun in the bushes with the Omega that caught her eye.

"They don't make condoms for female Alphas," Sous told the Omega.

She only laughed. "Yeah, zwenty yearz zago. Zhey didn't." The Omega took her bottoms off and laid in the grass, waiting for Sous.

It had been years since she had been intimate with someone. It felt good to be inside of an Omega, it allowed her to relax. Even if she held no romantic feelings, the release was well needed.
