They sat on the benches at the teleportation station. Tany couldn't take her eyes off the blood that was on Sous' hands. She felt...different about this death. The woman was old...working a business that maybe she hadn't any fault in. Far as Tany was concerned, the woman could have been forced herself to partake in the industry. What if she used to also be in the same position as the others who were forced to sell themselves?
Sous looked up at Tany but the witch averted her eyes. She felt uncomfortable all of a sudden, not enjoying the blue particles that surrounded themselves all-round Sous.
Maybe she was being hypocritical though, for the three sisters could be just as cruel one could argue. They in fact dabbled in the dark arts.
Tany shook her head...this was different. The sisters didn't any harm onto those they were ignorant of.
"I wanna go home," Tany said.
"I'm not letting my eyes off you and we're here in Faelock already." Sous said.
Tany shook her head and got up. "I can protect myself. If that Alpha comes for me, I'm sure I'll be fine."
She got up from the bench to leave but Sous grabbed her arm. Out of instinct and disgust, Tany turned around and landed a slap across Sous' face.
Slap!
All those at the station stared at the two teenage girls. Sous held her cheek, staring at Tany, startled by the action.
Tany turned her voice into a whisper. "I don't like what you did back there." Sous kept quiet. "You didn't have to kill that old woman like that. Make her suffer like that."
"She sold my mother," Sous argued.
"How do you know she wasn't forced to do it?"
Sous stepped back from Tany. "She was old, Tania." That was the first time Sous said her first name in full. "She was grown enough to make her own choices, choose her own destiny. She wasn't a victim. She was a madam."
Sous walked back to the bench and sat down waiting for Shadow and Monica to get back. Tany started to shiver with the cold. The clothes she wore were light.
Sous balled her fist, the blue fire engulfing her hand as the particles flew about her. "Come to the flame so you can get warm."
Tany walked to Sous and sat down, moving closer to her. She reached out to touch the flame, surprised that it wasn't burning her.
"I didn't know you had this power," Tany said.
"The particles are because I'm part fairy. If you look around, you can see all the fairies have a sort of glow to them." Tany did just that. She looked at the dozens of fairies that were out at the station. From the employees to the kids and families, and yes, they all had some sort of particle like glow to them.
Tany held on to Sous' arm, her bicep. She disagreed with the assessment of the old woman but it seemed it was something they would not come to terms with.
"This power...its my dad's. This isn't mine," Sous exclaimed. She unleashed it only one time before and that was when she was stabbed in the stomach, almost died then and there. She gulped. So this was what her father's power was like.
She looked at her arm and Tany's hand that was smaller than hers.
"Faye says I kill too easily...and you know, Shadow told me that too one time," she spoke. "Maybe its because of what I've seen when I was a kid. I kill first and ask questions never."
Tany took Sous' hand within hers, holding it tight. She leaned into Sous. "Sometimes, its not so black and white. Not so good as evil. Remember that the next time you want to take someone's life. Think of the reasons why they're doing it...is it because they're evil or because they're desperate and have mouths to feed at home."
Monica walked to the two girls but stopped when she saw them in such an intimate manner. She coughed to get their attention. "Its time to get going. We have the coordinates to the city hall so we can speak with the clan leader."
"Atreus is his name," Shadow said skipping into the scene.
Monica walked side by side with Sous. She tapped her on the arm to get Sous' attention. The fourteen year old looked at her. Monica cleared her throat, unsure of how to ask the questions she was going to ask.
"So..." she started. "Are you and Tany together?"
Sous became wide eyed, a small cherry color came over her nose that she scratched just a little.
"Its just...Kara really likes you and I don't want her to be hurt."
Sous stopped walking and turned to face Monica. "I wouldn't do that to her. Me and Tany, we have feelings for each other. I know she likes me. She asked me out even but I like Kara more. So no, we're not dating or anything."
Monica nodded her head, satisfied with that answer. She continued to walk onward toward the city hall while the fairies above them flew from one place to another with the trees as their canopies.
